McDermotts tie vs win mentality [edited title]
whorlnut replied to HomeskillitMoorman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree about Daboll. He was NEVER good as an OC and McD thinks he’s all of a sudden going to be good here? What a joke. And I didn’t edit anything. -
McDermotts tie vs win mentality [edited title]

First...I’m not your “bro”. Second...it’s not BS at all. McD is way too conservative. He’s on his third season of proof for that “opinion”. Keep being you... -

McDermotts tie vs win mentality [edited title]

I agree completely. McD and Daboll took the ball out of Allen’s hands once they got their last first down. He was on the good side of the 50 in less than a minute and getting chunk plays. Then our amazing OC started getting conservative. It’s infuriating. He needs to go. I just can’t take any more of him. And I agree about McD. As much as I don’t want to admit it. He’s a great motivator, but doesn’t have a killer instinct as a coach. I’m sure he was overjoyed when he got the lead and his precious defense had a chance to put it away. Then they lost the lead and he was playing for OT. The problem was that our qb was moving the ball and was in a spot to win it. McD then panicked and kept to his strategy of playing for OT. He just can’t adjust to certain situations. It’s becoming an issue. -
Simple poll. Is Josh Allen improving as a passer?
whorlnut replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How can anyone say no? Good grief. Give the kid a break. -
Why is everyone so bent on such a low percentage throw as a deep ball? The guy has improved his mid range to intermediate passing game this season and has a completion % over 60%. He’s done everything that they wanted him to improve on yet people still find something to complain about. It’s hilarious to me.
-
Exactly. I’m beyond sick of hearing these comments. The guy has a winning record as a starting qb. He had 5 wins last year with a crap roster and has had numerous comeback wins. What more can he do? Has he been perfect? Nope. But people need to stop acting like he’s supposed to be at this point. He was drafted as a project with enormous potential. So far he has played like it.

For years? He’s almost 32 dude...geez -

You really aren’t smart. You just aren’t. Moore has the same offensive genius and weapons that Mahomes has. Makes a huge difference. I’ll bet you thought Matt Cassell was the real deal the year Brady went down and he went 11-5, huh? Smh... -

I’d be all over that. My guess is it will take a 2 though since he’s in our division. -
A lesson learned? It is not all about Defense
whorlnut replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need to focus more on offense. This is 2019. -
I got a great idea! Let’s spend another first round pick on a defensive player! Problem solved...

First Time I have been concerned with Josh Allen
whorlnut replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody EVER wants to blame the defense, but you are right. Up until Tre’s INT, they absolutely sucked. Period. it’s hilarious to me no matter how bad the D is at times, they always seem to get a pass. The lack of any competent quarterback over the years has made us all gun shy. Even when we do have a guy that is 10-7 as a starter it’s not good enough. Some of you should be ashamed. -
Really? You’re really looking foolish in this thread, which isn’t surprising. You are bashing Allen, but are too ignorant to admit that the defense was the real culprit in almost losing this game. Yes, everyone’s precious defense sucked today. Until Tre’s interception. Allen has drops from Knox that would have been 6 and Beasley. That would have changed a lot. All you are likely focusing on his missed deep ball to Roberts. Wake up and see the big picture...

Josh Allen’s deep ball hasn’t been there so far

Excellent post and I completely agree. -
Josh Allen’s deep ball hasn’t been there so far

Stay with me here... I really believe some of Josh Allen’s deep ball inaccuracy can be blamed on not getting enough arc under the ball. He just doesn’t “drop the ball in the bucket” so to speak. I think his arm is almost TOO strong. He has the ability to fire the ball on a straight line more than just about any other QB in the league, while most qbs have to get more air, or touch, under the ball to throw deep. By throwing on a line, the ball usually arrives in the defender’s face mask assuming our guy has him beat. This is also why he often overthrows. It became clear to me this past Sunday when I saw Darnold drop one in Robby Anderson’s arms from near the end zone. Darnold has to throw that bal with nearly all he had and had perfect arc under the ball to drop it right on Anderson. Allen would have fires a missile with ease and likely have overthrown his guy. Either that or the defender would have made a play due to the lack of touch. I think a lot of this can be corrected. Much has been made about Allen’s quick learning this offseason with short to intermediate throws. I expect this off-season to refine the other area Allen struggles with and you will see a complete qb in 2020. -
He will probably be more realistic that Lamb. Lamb is too good to last until the 20’s...
-
CeeDee Lamb is the apple of my eye right now. He’s a dynamic playmaker that could really change this offense.

Reasons to not feel so bad about Patrick Mahomes
whorlnut replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is absurd. When the Chiefs took Mahomes many mocked them. Mahomes was considered a late first project at best. Ah, the benefit of hindsight... -
I would say he’s more like Dez Bryant in that he’s not very fast but he’s a hands catcher that should fight for the ball in traffic...

My guess is that Beane is looking to draft a DE in the first next year. If he was at Iowa, I’m sure Espensa was at the top of his watch list. If he was at the Penn State game, Yetur Gross-Matos is a stud and could be there in the 20’s. Dang it...I was hoping for one of these stud WRs but this is certainly trending towards DE being on the top of their list...

We need Josh Allen to be Tyrod Taylor for 3 quarters
whorlnut replied to Strethor's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know exactly what you’re saying. I said before that Allen is like Rothlisberger where he will make you scratch your head for three quarters but then have you in a spot to win a game you have no business winning. That’s exactly what he is right now. I love Allen. I think he’ll be the guy for the next decade, but it would be nice to see him be more of a manager until he needs to be different in the closing minutes. This kid has it. He just needs to harness it more in the early stages of the games. -
The backup QB is, was, and always will be the most popular person on the team for any fan base. Especially one as dysfunctional as this one. Heck, people even claymores for Frank Reich when Jim Kelly was here. It really shows the impatience of the fan base when they don’t get instant results. We have a 23 year old who is basically a wild stallion that needs tamed. He’s got all the tools. Now it’s up to the coaches and him to put it all together. One thing that can’t be argued is that he is a gamer and you can’t teach that. It’s instincts. All the great ones have it. Matt Barkley doesn’t have it. So you can sit there and whine all day long that Barkley should be the guy, but you’re not going to win that argument. Not even close. Josh Allen is this staff’s guy and has a winning record even with what he was given last year. There is something to be said about that. He’s not a game manager. Never will be. He’s a Favre/Rothlisberger/Cam type qb that will make you crazy for 3 quarters but win it for you in the fourth. Get used to him. He’ll be here for a long time.
