Steelers QB Mason Rudolph fined $50K by NFL

Completely disagree. Go back and watch. He tried to rip Garrett’s helmet off first. I’m not even sure how this is debatable. -

Rudolph started the whole thing. Should have gotten at least a game. If he didn’t react by trying to take Garrett’s helmet off, none of that would have ever happened. 50k is getting off easy IMO...- 89 replies

2020 Draft Position and Potential Targets
whorlnut replied to STL-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My draft crushes are Tee Higgins and CeeDee Lamb. I really think we will be too far down for Lamb, so Higgins is my guy. He’s 6’4” and has a championship pedigree. Exactly what Allen needs opposite Brown. -
Bills should move CHRIS BROWN to Scouting Department
whorlnut replied to kirkwoodus13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. I’m sick of the accuracy complaints about Allen. It’s just easy for people that don’t know much about football to hang onto this theory because the media was saying it predraft. Bottom line is Allen is accurate on the short to mid stuff and the only real problem is the deep ball. I’m tired of hearing about the deep ball as if it’s some kind of high percentage throw to begin with. Ummm...he’s right around 60% right now, so there’s that... -

He’s “right” on a guy that has already been traded and is currently a backup to a journeyman? Ok dude... -

And he loved Jameis Winston and said we should trade all our picks to move up for him. I remember it well... -

Get used to it. Once he starts he doesn’t stop. It’s beyond annoying. He shows up like a zit every now and again and you just have to ride it out for a while. -
So you can admit you were dead wrong about Winston?
-
Too bad we didn’t give up an entire draft to move to 1 to get Jameis Winston, huh?

100% problem with the Deep Ball this year.

And you don’t know that he isn’t. The point is we won’t know until he has that type of receiver. -

whorlnut replied to Allen2Moulds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You’re missing the point. The point is he is overthrowing because he knows he has to throw the ball out in front of these guys. His timing is off. It needs more practice. I’m convinced the focus this past offseason was the short to intermediate stuff, which he improved immensely. This next offseason he will work on timing on the deep stuff with his receivers. A guy like Higgins who fights for the jump ball will allow Allen the confidence to put the ball on him more than throw it out in front. This should result in more deep completions. -

If Allen has a receiver that can fight for 50/50 balls, I’d bet the farm that he wouldn’t overthrow as much. He’s overthrowing because he knows he has small receivers that won’t win if the ball is slightly under thrown. Go get a Tee Higgins and watch how he progresses. I can’t see him going anywhere anytime soon. He will get next year and maybe even more beyond that. The pegulas love Beane and McD and their vision. Allen is their guy. They will build through the draft and get him viable offensive weapons. -

I want a SB. And I’m saying Allen has a VERY good chance to put it all together. You are kidding yourself if you think he has all the ammo to make it happen right now. Brown is a very good receiver and Beasley is good in the slot. Dawkins is meh...Ford has a ways to go...and Morse is good. Other than that, together could use upgrades everywhere on offense. Singletary might make it with the right scheme but that’s it. this off-season will be HUGE. They need to go offense heavy with their premium picks. The WR class is the best in years. A guy like Tee Higgins or CeeDee Lamb can take this offense to the next level. -

If he can be somewhere between 10-16 it will be good enough. Do you realize how hard it is to find a top ten QB? He certainly has the ability, and time will tell if he reaches his enormous potential. -

Ah yes...jblibbity and his precious metrics. Here’s a metric for you to chew on...Allen is one of the highest rated 4th quarter qbs in the entire league and leads the league this year in comebacks. He has a clutch gene that few have. The staff is handcuffing him by making him afraid to let it rip for three quarters but when he has to, he comes through. Im waiting on you to defend your rants about how great Winston would be. You basically said that year that we should trade our entire draft to move up to number one to get him. As now that he sucks, he’s still gotten his entire rookie contract, which is exactly what Allen will get. -

Jblabber...long time no see. How is Jameis Winston doing? You know...the guy you claimed as can’t miss. I don’t trust anything you have to say about quarterbacks. Allen will almost 100% get next year. Period. They will add playmakers and allow him to grow with them. The line is still not that good. We dont have a WR that can win 50:50 balls and that’s messing with Allen’s confidence. If your guy Winston can get his entire rookie deal then Allen can too. No one cares about the wins or the 4th quarter comebacks. All anyone cares about is 300 yard games and a deep ball. Where have you been? It’s so ridiculous. -
QB who can pass to victory - a myth?
whorlnut replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I totally agree. Allen can be the guy but he needs more than Brown and Beasley. People can say you don’t need a true number one all they want but you can’t tell me a Mike Evans or Julio Jones wouldn’t help this offense. Brown can be an excellent two and Beasley is our slot guy but we need a one. Someone like Tee Higgins or CeeDee Lamb would go well with this team. We also need a few more stud linemen. If we got a good RT in the draft we could move Ford to LG and that would take care of a lot of problems. This team is close and so is Allen. We just need more pieces and another off-season. I want instant gratification too but it’s sort of unrealistic at this point. We might sneak into the playoffs, but then again we might not either. Either way, 2020 has always been the target year IMO that we would really compete. -

Great post! Our own Jim Kelly struggled mightily at first and look what happened. The point is Allen is here for a while so you all need to get used to it. I think Pegula is all in with McD and Beane’s vision and they will be here for the foreseeable future. Allen is their guy so he will too. If guys like Winston, Mariotta, Tannehill, etc got as long as they have, then Allen will too. He has the tools and he’s no where near as bad as some of you think he is. Yes his deep ball needs to come around, but last year he struggled with the short to intermediate throws and now it’s a strength. He’ll work on the long stuff and get better this off-season. it’s kind of pathetic in my opinion to read some of the posts on here calling for this kid’s head after 20 starts. He’s 11-9 with a pretty bad roster on offense. Going 5-6 last year with the crap he had to work with was a minor miracle. You guys act like we have some right to have the next Brady/Rodgers/Brees. We don’t. They come along very rarely. If we can get average to above average play from Allen for the next 10-12, that should be good enough. And who knows? He might even be better than above average. I won’t put anything past him. He’s a hard worker and wants to be great. -

We have one. His name is Josh Allen. The coaches have clipped his balls and won’t allow him to do too much though. It’s sad really... -
Rational Thoughts after the Browns
whorlnut replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if this were true, I would take it. Just look at how many below average starters there are in the league. There are VERY few above average and elite QBs. This. Allen takes all the blame in these spots, but Daboll is doing him NO favors. He’s terrible. The guy has never been a good OC. EVER. he’s always ranked near the bottom. What made them think he could develop a young QB and develop game plans to his strengths? -
McDermotts tie vs win mentality [edited title]
whorlnut replied to HomeskillitMoorman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
“Winning the right way” doesn’t mean crap if you’re coaching scared and afraid to stomp on your opponents throats. It leaves too many door open for the other team to make a comeback and get back in the game. I’m starting to lose some faith in McD. The way he coached that last drive is inexcusable. We were moving the ball with plenty of time and had a TO and he played for the tie and worse, he though a 50+ yarder was close enough. What a joke. -
