Sean Payton on Broncos 2022 Season - Wow
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Doesn't bode well for Jets And yes I'd trade Sean for Sean. -
Don't get me wrong. I would like to see Allen rush the ball less and dump the ball off to his running backs and wide receivers for them to take the hits. But you included quarterbacks from eras where they could murder the quarterback in the pocket. It's completely different now. multiple protections for the quarterback in the pocket and outside of the pocket. Allen can last quite a long time still doing what hes doing today.

The vast majority of these guys weren't good QBs regardless of age or running frequency. Young is a HOF and the most obvious exception as you pointed out. Wilson may still rebound and I doubt his decline has anything to do with running. He was sacked relentlessly behind a bad Seahawks oline the last two years he was there. And I dont think he cares about football anymore. Excluding Rodgers and Roethlisberger skews the data set. Both were mobile guys that moved around a lot in the early part of their careers.

Training Camp opens today! 2023 Season is upon us!
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. This is a McDermott problem. Elam was the best DB on the field in the playoffs. That is just stupid. The guy has played college football at the highest level. Virtually no learning curve at guard. Plug and play day one. -

Being better than Edmunds at run stopping is no hard feat. He's a liability in coverage. Sadly I'm not sure any of the three MLB options on the team are good. My guess is we will see Milano at MLB in passing down and distance situations and one of the small guys at OLB. I agree Dodson is probably the best run stopping MLB so he may see more snaps than last year. I dont think I've ever seen MLB by committee before but I think taht may be what we see for the first several games. Maybe after that one guy will emerge. -

Dodson at MLB is ridiculous. He is not good at anything. At least the smurfs should be able to run. Torrence needs to be a day 1 starter. They need him to start all year so he is solid by playoff time. Bates should be utility back up at every spot. He should be first off the bench in case of injury for all 5 spots. Maybe if Snell looks good he could be primary backup at RT. -

Sorry but why does Matakevich on the PUP list make me laugh? Seems like even when healthy he is PUP! -
Don't need one. With new rule its better to Fair catch the ball and take it at the 20 or 25 wherever the rule states.

Rewatching the Week 3 Dolphins game
Ethan in Cleveland replied to buffblue's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pretty sure we are saying the same thing. Bring 4 guys but do it creatively. That said at the end of the day guys like Miller, Oliver, and Rousseau need to win some 1:1 matchups. Its not all scheme. Bengals have a great DL and are far more physical than the Bills. We are a soft team on defense and have been for years. Much better at chasing than attacking. We put up great numbers against bad QBs. There are times were we play extremely well against the run and other times that we get gashed by the run. Hard to explain really. Anyways it doesn't matter. Allen and the offense are our only hope. -

Wow. You couldn't be more wrong. Blitizing elite QBs is a recipe for disaster. And no I'm not calling Tua elite but he is accurate enough to beat the blitz. Getting pressure on the QB rushing 4 is the best way to win. Now you can rush four guys in a multitude of different ways - stunts and zone blitzes for instance. But sending more than 4 guys against good to elite QBs will get your burned more than not. -

OP 3rd and long like it or not is a drop everyone deep defensive call for almost all teams across the league. Then you hope one of your three guys can beat their block to hurry the QB. Allen would like nothing more than to see them rush 5 and give Diggs,Davis, or Knox a 1:1 situation on 3rd and long. You can scream for more blitzes all you want but they just aren't going to happen. I just can't see how McD play calling will be any different than Frazier. The only hope for the defense is Miller and Rousseau developing into pass rushers. Beane crapped the bed with Epenesa and Basham picks. I still hate the Oliver pick. He will never be the inside pass rusher they hoped. Bills have the secondary to contain most teams. I believed Edmunds was a fraud and a myth that he took away passing options with his length. Will be interesting to see if I was right or wrong. McD should play to his strengths and play a deep cover shell and force teams to play perfect football to beat them. Bills have an offense that can outscore anyone. The D just needs a few stops or forced FGs a game to win. -

Lol. Tre even in his prime could not handle Hill one on one. Not even a knock on Tre. There are so few CBs that can play man coverage at an elite level. Tre was an elite zone corner. He is not and never was an elite man cover corner. Unfortunately I'm afraid Sauce may be one of those guys and Diggs will have to face him twice a year. -
Hunter Renfrow a possible camp casualty

Another post with no idea what Davis does on this team. Thank you -
And they have to play a #1 schedule unlike years past I was talking time zones not air travel time. West coast teams that have to travel east and play 1pm games (10am for them) have it worse than an East coast team that has to travel west and play a 1pm(4pm for them) game. Haven't checked the stats in a few years but my recollection it was a decent sized disadvantage.

Losman's knee. Unfortunately he didn't end his career so we had to suffer a couple more seasons with him. He went to the playoffs with Mac Jones Brady, Belichick, the OL coach, and a solid kicker were the only constants during their dynasty. Brady and BB won with defense, with offense, with old and with young, with new players and guys on the roster forever. Their dynasty does not happen if both aren't there together. QB trumps HC all the time but look how many making QBs can't overcome bad coaching.

Bills have a top 3 QB and multiple other good to great players. They could easily only win 10 or 11 games and still be an excellent team come playoff time. The AFC is loaded and it will be hard for any team to get to 13 wins. Anything less than a deep playoff run however will be a massive disappointment and another black mark on this coaching staff. We all know we are stuck with McDermott so all we can do is hope Allen wills this team to a SuperBowl just as Manning did with Dungy.

Cleveland Hypocrites release DT
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we get it. We understand why better players get different treatment. We are saying it is hypocritical. Both are true. -
I am excited to see what Baker can do. He almost beat Mahommes on the road in the playoffs with a bad Cleveland team. Then he plays hurt for almost an entire year and the Browns get rid of him and trade for a sexual predator. Not saying he is great but he is far better than Darnold and obviously the other Josh. Will be interesting to see if he gets a new national commercial in his new city.
