Hopefull this is a fun topic for early in the week. There are so many amazing players in the NFL now. Generational talents in many cases. These are the players that I think will be first ballot HOF in no particular order. Decent mix of offense and defense. Zach Martin retired this year so he is not on the list but he is first ballot HOF for sure. I feel like I am missing other OL and DBs. Josh Allen Patrick Mahomes Aaron Rodgers Derrick Henry Mike Evans Lamar Jackson Bobbie Wagner Fred Warner Trent Williams Travis Kelce Chris Jones Myles Garrett TJ Watt Cameron Heyward Joel Bitonio Too soon to tell but have a really good chance Penei Sewell Ja'marr Chase Justin Jefferson Patrick Surtain Several young QBs that have a lot to prove yet Probably need to wait until year 2 of eligibility Matthew Stafford Lane Johnson DeAndre Hopkins

I think he was just pointing at the flag on the ground already and the fact he didn't have to complain to the refs. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the play where he drew the flag for roughing. It was not in any way simulated gunshot.

Bills Defense, will it get better as season goes on
Ethan in Cleveland replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is not dumb to ask the question. They gave up 40 to the Ravens in a game the Bills did not have a turnover. Dolphins converted 67% of their third downs and many were in long distance. Jets QB is awful. It's the same story for all of McD's tenure. The defense periodically gets destroyed by heavy rushing attacks like Baltimore or go back to 2017 and the Saints 200 yard rushing game. The defense pads the stats against QBs like Fields and probably this week against Rattler. The defense has trouble getting off the field unless the other team makes a mistake just like the Jags and KC in the playoffs, and the Dolphins game with Tua dropping a snap, and twice with illegal man downfield. However, a fair critique of the defense can't omit the frequency with which they create timely turnovers. Credit the defense for the late game stops against the Ravens and the late INT of Tua. Problem is in the playoffs the turnovers disappear. Mahomes has 9 TD passes and zero INTs in the playoffs against Buffalo. What is dumb is to assume the same late season and playoff defensive failures will occur again. There are many new faces on defense and many are young. They may continue to develop and as others have said the PED cheats are soon to be back. Rousseau probably is not going to be this ineffective all season long. Oliver was a beast and does not need to be rushed back. The problem is that young players tend to fade as the season goes on. If they are playing a lot of snaps now, the rookie wall may be quite a problem come January. Maybe this year will be different. Have hope. It's week 4. -

Game week thread - Saints at Bills
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hopefully McD and Tabor watched all these kicks being blocked and put in a few more reps. I don't care if we block one. Would be nice but may not be worth the risk of running into the punter penalty. I just don't want to see a punt or FG blocked. The Ravens came very close to blocking that game winning FG. -
Did you bet?

Raid the Browns after they start the fire sale. Get Bojorquez and Greg Newsome. Instant upgrades over whoever the punter is this week and Rapp/Bishop

Agree! With the pitch clock it is an amazing sport. Go Guardians!

Just a brutal weekend for football both college and NFL. Very few games that are even remotely interesting. Bengals Vikings looked good on paper until both QBs were hurt. Chargers Broncos is probably the only one of interest today. Monday night should be good. College was awful. Only 3 games between top 25 opponents and those were terrible.

No they left that very good question out -
Sorry I did forget Grable. That is an interesting one. Have to wonder if they just leave him on IR for this year. Lundt might be able to sneak through waivers. Also I wonder with how well Hawes is playing if they decide that Anderson is expendable. He is not on the field much any more. I like this idea a lot. However it takes two to trade. If you were another GM what would you offer? To me I think he is terrible and not exactly cheap either so I wouldn't part with even a low round draft pick. Now maybe there is a team like Titans or Carolina with lots of cap space that would be willing to take him on fir a 7th round pick.

Well you have to cut someone to bring those three back to the roster. So either you cut the PED guys or someone on the current roster needs to go

Bills have three players that hopefully will be returning soon. Hairston and Hoecht seem like locks to make the 53. Ogunjobi to me is 50/50. Play GM for a moment and post what you would do knowing what you know today. Here is what I would do... Add Hairston - Cut Ingram Add Hoecht - put Milano on IR designated to return - this gives Milano time to heal and kicks the decision on another player down the road. Add Ogunjobi and cut DQ. I considered just cutting Ogunjobi but DQ has been awful. As much as I want to get rid of Epenesa, DQ is playing even worse. I also considered cutting Samuel but I think they keep him for injury insurance.

Milktoast," as an adjective or noun, describes a timid, meek, or unassertive person who is lacking in boldness or vigor. The word is an Americanism derived from the comic strip character Caspar Milquetoast, created by H.T. Webster in 1924, whose name was taken from the bland, easily digested food known as milk toast. Origin The word "milquetoast" comes from the Caspar Milquetoast comic strip character, who represented a timid, meek man. The character's name, in turn, was taken from the dish of "milk toast," a soft food of toast with milk. Meaning of Milk Toast (the food) Milk toast consists of toast, often buttered, served in warm milk. It's typically a bland, nutritious, and easily digested dish, sometimes served with sugar or salt and pepper. -
Going to give a shout out to the reporters this week. They asked some decent pointed tough questions of McD today. Usually it is milk toast stuff, but they questioned why such a poor showing on 3rd and long, where is Landon, where is Rousseau, and lastly what happens when Hairston and the PED cheats are eligible to come back. Good solid set of questions. They got few answers but kudos for them raising a lot of the concerns raised on this board.

What happened to the run game in the second half?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
They sold out to stop the run. Brady doesn't have a good feel for the game and honestly Josh is playing a bit too conservative. We should be calling more play action and we should be going more no huddle to slow down the pass rush. I do like them running and picking up first downs on 3rd and 2. Putting that on tape now will play dividends later int he season when they have Josh run more. As for Josh, I think he has checked into several runs that haven't worked out too well. Also he seems to have thrown more hot reads short of the first down marker than I am used to seeing from him. He's not Trent Edwards back there but he took very few deep shots. He threw one to Coleman that got a DPI. And then the pass breakup/drop by Kincaid in the end-zone. Not much else that I recall. -
Kicker decision between Bass /Prater
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Jistafan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unless you put Bass on season ending IR, this isn't even a discussion. He's the kicker this year if he is healthy. -
Looked really good. They are intentionally playing more 4-3 defense. If/when Milano comes back, will be interesting to see snap distribution.
-
At least he is active. Landon Jackson hasn't even dressed for a game.
-
The only person in the organization that is not held accountable for lack of improvement is McDermott. It's not going to change until Josh is fed up losing in the playoffs. We just need to accept it.
