QB Rankings (& Point Differential)
Ethan in Cleveland replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
No reasonable person thinks Lamar Jackson is better than Josh Allen. No matter how many awards he may or may not win. However there are many people that think Jackson is a terrible QB. Those people are wrong.- 42 replies

Joe Marino's Bills "Mt Rushmore"
Ethan in Cleveland replied to mushypeaches's topic in The Stadium Wall
At this point you just leave several spots blank for TE. Warlock is the only guy that is even in the discussion. As for Jeff Wright, he doesn't belong on any list unless if has something to do with mustaches. Will be controversial but Marcell Dareus was a better player than Wright ever was. No idea how he left Pat Williams off the list. -

Milano is better player than Conlan ever was. In fact I'd list Sam Cowart and London Fletcher over Conlan. Nice to see Talley not make the list. -
As you know I'm not a fan of special teams but to deny that they have an impact on the game is nonsense as well. The HOF is as much about the players as it is the history of the game. It's hard to near impossible to talk about the evolution of the NFL without talking about how the original special teams expert changed the game. So in that context I would vote Tasker in. If you are just going off of talent alone however then I would not vote Tasker in. For those that should be in on talent: Jim Marshall Clay Matthews Reggie Wayne Otis Taylor Sterlin Sharpe I would also vote Dick LeBeau in again as a coach. He already is in as a player. I can't think of any other coach. They finally got Flores and Coryell inducted. For those I would remove, there are several. There are so many guys that are in the good to great category but are not truly elite. As of late it seems much more watered down. All of the following would be removed and I would be fine with it Steve McMichael Patrick Willis Rhonde Barber Zach Thomas LeRoy Butler John Lynch Brian Dawkins Kurt Warner Marv Levy Lynn Swann

I've only lived in Cleveland for under two years but the number of people saying he is a raging alcoholic is overwhelming. The Browns organization wants nothing to do with him. Local radio almost never have him on. Even the QCKinetics scam advertisers stopped using him. It's sad but moslty self inflicted. Maybe he drank because of CTE and pain or maybe he was just an alcoholic. Parkinson's is usually a progressive horrible disease. Early stages it would be hard to distinguish from liver failure. Both can produce tremors. If he truly had Parkinsons that might make him ineligible for liver Transplant.

Yeah I hear ya. I have Rice #1 Brady #2 Montana #3 and LT #4. I agree you could make an argument for Brown as the GOAT. You are correct about the Browns. One of only a very few franchises with no SuperBowl appearances let alone wins. Lol and the Titans don't count for the Oilers. Their QB history since they came back in the league is actually worse than the Bills during the drought.

Who is your surprise cut this year?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
All of these players are good. That's why it would be a surprise. I'm fine putting the best five out there. I never thought Morse lived up to his contract. He was 10-15 guy at best never a top 5 guy even though at one point he was paid top dollar. So I have no issue with them moving McGovern to C or giving the rookie a shot. However if Van Pran is good enough to start 3 years in the SEC, he might be a long term answer at C. And if that happens that opens up all kinds of possibilities for the roster. -

For every 100 or more guys this regime has appropriately parted ways with there will always be Wyatt Teller. I fear cutting Elam could be the next version of Teller. He flashes talent at times. Hopefully last year was more about the foot injury and he can really push Benford for the starting job. -
Who is your surprise cut this year?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I guess I equate those two(cut/trade) in a question like this. You are correct he could probably get a 7th for him or a capable backup RB in the very very rare player for player trade. -
Irrelevant is an interesting term. Jim Brown is on the very short list of best player of all time. Ozzie Newsome is on the list of best TEs of all time. Probably still top 5 in talent. He would be a superstar in this era. Can't tell the story of the NFL in the 80's without The Drive and The Fumble. Relevant yes. Winning not so much.

Who is your surprise cut this year?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Remember this would be a surprise.. David Edwards If Van Pran proves capable to play center, them McGovern stays at LG. I like Anderson to be the backup inside as he can also play Center. Collins is the utility knife that can play extra OT in heavy sets and can back up both OT and OG spots. -
Can't write a history of the NFL without mentioning that game and Namath in particular. He played well with no turnovers and 17 of 28 passing. He was named MVP and is the only Superbowl MVP to not score or throw a TD. But it was the NY Jets defense picking off Earl Morrall three times that won the game

I think the two biggest surprises that could happen are Bass and Miller. I don't think either will be cut but I would not be shocked either if they were. I am pretty much assuming Milano will be on PUP to start the season Cuts that should happen but won't are one of the following Gilliam and Hollins. I'd cut Gilliam and give Hollins a good look at WR#6. If you get rid of Gilliam you keep Morris as TE#3 and you can carry an extra OL like Collins for jumbo sets.

Josh Allen: which ways will he struggle and shine?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to ryguy101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can't argue the stats. Diggs was one of my favorites. That said we don't know the gameplan nor how the defense played him. You think Davis gets 4 TD receptions against KC if they were designing a defense to take him away. Belichick took away Reed in SuperBowl XXV. I think any defense can take away a #1 WR if they want. Hell even McD can control Hill when he wants. Elite TE not the same story. Kincaid and Knox can be unstoppable this year if Brady lets them. -
Josh Allen: which ways will he struggle and shine?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to ryguy101's topic in The Stadium Wall
His INTs will be down from 18 to 13 His INT rate will be a far more respectable 2.25% His YPA will fall to below 7 while his comp % increaes to a career high 70% with a greater emphasis on short easy throws. He will still struggle with deep fly pattern accuracy. He's just never been that great throwing a deep ball with arc. At this point I don't see it ever getting better. Just have to live with some missed deep throws from time to time. Good thing is he usually misses too far and avoids INTs on these throws. -

Name one player you hope you are wrong about...

I hope so too. If not I don't think he will be on the team next year just like White was let go. -

I get where you are coming from. But he was playing at a high level prior to the ACL. It's a longer recovery for older players but he has had another 6 months to rehab and no brace now. I have little faith in anyone else on the roster getting to 10 sacks so I'm still sticking with my prediction Miller leads the team in sacks. -

Beane is in a tight spot with this one. That contract will be difficult to eat. Bills played several tight games last year and you have to figure with all the new offensive pieces they will take time to gel. That means a few more FG attempts and maybe less going for it on fourth down in the red zone Bills can't take all year to see if Bass figures it out. I'm not sure they can even survive September if he is struggling. -

Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
You could be right but my guess is in the end Miller will lead the team in sacks. Now he could do that still with only 5 sacks which would be sad. I think he starts fast but age kicks in and he wears down by season end just like Floyd did. He probably gets to 10 sacks if he can get a couple late in the year and the Bills are still playing meaningful games in December. -
How close is Allen to Mahomes if all things were equal?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen with Reid would be far better than Mahommes with McDermott. My guess Allen with Reid turns the ball over less, runs less, but still scores at the same rate as he always has. Herbert with Harbaugh will be in this conversation by year end though It's the QBs job to not throw INTs. Score by run or pass makes no difference. YPA and int% are the two most critical stats for a QB. -

Agree. Really hoping he is a backup Bishop should start or they wasted a second round pick when there were bigger needs at WR and DL
