  1. I don't think there's a zero tolerance penalty like hitting a QB in the head. If the ref threw a flag there it would have had to be along the lines of generic roughing. Which I think it was.
  2. And maybe wishing he wasn't - ouch!
  3. Okay Darnold is body slammed and injured. A Jet does a wimpy pile driver on Rypien and it's a 15 yard penalty? Someone needs to tell that moron of a ref that makeup calls don't work that way.
  4. They kept thinking he was going to slide and he didn't. I'm happy for Darnold.
  5. Not sure I fully buy into this. People seem to forget that Allen walked into a crappy situation here. He was behind Peterman and McCarron, didn't take many first team snaps and had an offense with arguably the worst personnel in the entire 2018 NFL. A leaky O-line and the worst receiving & TE group in the league. And his QB coach never played QB. Then Peterman has an epic meltdown in Baltimore and Allen is thrust into the starting lineup in week 2. He then faces three playoff teams in his first three games. Did okay with San Diego, struggled big time at Green Bay and had a spectacular game against Minnesota. Let's not forget that after the Baltimore & San Diego games folks on the national scene were wondering if the Bills could beat Alabama! Allen took his lumps and had his ups and downs his first year here. He got injured and came back and played much better in his last 6 games. And for all his accuracy issues he also had some spectacular passing & running plays. I'm unconvinced that had Darnald been drafted by Buffalo and went through a similar situation he wouldn't have completely melted down and had twice the TO's that Allen had.
  6. This is classic Cowherd. He knows Allen should be ranked ahead of Carr but if he wants his Tweet to get clicks leave Allen off the list and put Carr on top. BOOM, click & comment city.
  7. A+ Football is not about perfection. Allen had over 300 yards passing, 4 TD passes and 1 TD rushing. He had 2 TO's but it's hard to count the INT against him as it was one of the worst calls I've seen in some time. Through two and a half quarters, Allen was perfect. Five possessions and four TD's as the Bills raced out o a 28 - 3 lead. Then adversity struck and with the game on the line Allen marched the offense the length of the field and won the game. That's an A+ grade in my book.
  8. Before we get to depressed about the defense this reminds me of the Philly game last year. After we were gashed on the ground by the Eagles I didn't think they could fix it and EVERY team would run the ball down our throats. Instead our run D got better for the rest of the season. I suspect that what we saw today was more a schematic problem then a talent issue. They will fix it. Also this is where not having fans in the stands hurt us. Do you think down 28 - 3 the Rams make this a game if the house is packed? I don't. One final thought. Allen has arrived.
  9. A lot of the "experts" basically said the same thing about Allen but not with as much malice. This is why these people won't ever admit that they were wrong. And as bad as this clowns take on Allen was his praise of Rosen looks a bit misplaced in hindsight: Loser: Sam Bradford (and Everybody Else in Josh Rosen’s Way) Two years ago, Sam Bradford signed a $36 million contract with the Eagles—two months before the Eagles selected Carson Wentz with the second pick in the 2016 draft. A month and a half ago, Bradford signed a $20 million contract with the Cardinals—and Thursday night, Arizona traded up to take Rosen, who surprisingly dropped all the way to the 10th pick in the draft. Rosen provided the quote of the night about his fall: Some feel that Rosen might be the best quarterback in the draft, and that the Cardinals got great value to find him at no. 10. But alas, it means the Bradford era in Arizona could end before—or soon after—it starts. Poor Sam—err, actually, extremely rich Sam. But regardless, it’s another bummer for the former no. 1 pick.
  10. Judas priest when will NFL D coaches understand that the prevent doesn't prevent anything. I hate this defense. Miami is lucky it's not 28 - 14 going into the 4th.
  11. Even worse did you hear this jack wagon from MINNESOTA call Buffalo "western Siberia"? If Buffalo is Siberia what is Minneapolis - Antarctica?
  12. Some folks are talking about the slight under-throw on this great pass. As I think back to last year Allen was missing his deep throws by putting the ball 10 yards over the WR's head. Clearly he's adjusted and that pass was placed exactly where he wanted it to be. It seems to me that on the deep passes Allen has changed his throwing motion. Last night I saw Wilson's deep throws and Allen seems to be using Wilson's mechanics here. As an aside this is the 2nd straight year where Allen focused on improving a certain aspect of his game and he did. This may be his greatest attribute - the ability & burning desire to get better.
  13. It's situational with Allen. On his first run, where he was safe at home with that nice slide, it was a first down play. The Angry Man run was on 3rd & 8.
  14. Well that brawl wasn't the best example of social distancing that we've seen.
  15. I remember that play and it was a PERFECT pass by Allen. What happened is that Beasley got knocked of his rout into Diggs rout. This caused Diggs to hesitate. Had he not had to do this the pass hits Digs in the hands at full stride! Watch the replay and you can clearly see what I describe.
  16. Their points are not valid IMO when they lie by omission. If you only focus on the negative plays for a QB you can make any of them look bad or have issues. Like you point out you can't discuss a QB like Allen without talking about his freaky great plays and year to year improvements.
  17. And Beasley had some big catches to. That 2nd & 24 first down catch was fantastic. The Diggs effect is clearly coming into play as both Brown & Beasley continue having great production. Another cool stat is that through 2 games Allen has thrown 3 TD passes to three different rookies!
  18. Living down here in Cincinnati you learn real quick that the Bengal's do not fire coaches quickly. Given the covid and Burrow's promising start I would bet that Taylor's job is safe for two more years - at a minimum. These are two good points. * Burrow will learn that he needs to surprise teams with his athleticism and not make it a central part of his game. If you sleep on Burrow he can rip 20 yards off on a run. But unlike Allen he's not going to break a lot of tackles or stiff arm LB's. * Maybe he's just shaking off the cobwebs but so far Green has not looked good IMO. He seems slow and and he's not making the circus catches he used to. Diggs was a vastly superior pickup at WR compared to Green.
  19. Put Burrow on Cleveland and the score is 56 - 7. Mayfield really does under perform considering the talent on that offense.
  20. That was a bad pass. I would have kept running it. What a dumb penalty by the Bengal player.
  21. Compare how Burrow looks with no preseason playing on a team with no O-line to how Rosen looked. I think Joe is going to be okay. He's got the tough mentality to survive the next couple of years.
  22. You can't drop that pass in the NFL.
  23. That was a nice drive. One of the things that Burrow has is that he is pretty unflappable.
  24. We have a saying in Cincinnati for what is happening to Burrow. He is getting Klingered.
  25. Having watched Burrow play last week and this week I agree. And he's doing it with a very bad O-line. The only other guy I can think off getting off to this kind of start was Dan Marino. But he didn't come in until game 4 or 5 and he had a full preseason.
