  1. I'm with others in wanting the Bills to sit anyone on the injury report AND play their starters for 1 - 2 quarters. I get there's a risk of injury but I would worry about Allen being rusty in the first half of the playoff game if he got no snaps this Sunday. I think treating this like the 2nd preseason game seems the way to go.
  2. And this is why I would take Joe Burrow over Chase Young in the upcoming draft. The relative impact of a QB versus a pass rushing specialist is hugely in favor of the QB. And unlike Bruce Smith, who played the run very well, Mack is a bit of a one trick pony. We're you the guy who threw that out? I just remember seeing it and saying to myself come on man, maybe he had 5 bad throws but 10, no way.
  3. I think we're actually pretty close on this topic. And yes Mahomee has had the better season. As for crazy takes on 2BD it comes with the territory and IMO Allen is the target of most of the insanity thrown out around here. I mean just today we learned that: * Allen should be moved to TE * The Bills will NEVER win a championship with Allen at QB * Allen sucks * Allen missed on 10 throws against the Pats * Allen is regressing
  4. Who the hell is saying this? What I've seen posted is that Allen isn't that far behind Watson. Which I think is true. But then again I think Allen is emerging into being a very good QB and Watson is already a very good QB. Most of the stuff on Jackson on 2BD is positive. At the same time it's not knocking Jackson to say that if he were dropped into the Bills offense he would struggle and not be as effective as Allen. That doesn't mean Allen is better then Jackson it simply acknowledges that the 2 play in very different systems and that Jackson benefits from playing in a system designed for him. It's a testament to Jackson's skills and the brilliance of the ravens coaching staff that they've taken the NFL by storm. As for Mahomes, the most common point made on 2BD is that he has a great offensive mind coaching him and he's surrounded with fantastic skill players. I can't think of to many folks who claim Allen is better though. Mahomes is probably the best QB in the NFL. Allen isn't there yet. But it's okay to speculate on how the two might fare if they switched offenses to play in.
  5. I think you're talking to me so I'll reply. My point wasn't to say that Allen is equal to Mahomes he isn't and he has a long way to go to get there. My point was to show that Allen is closing the gap. And for the record what I posted wasn't cherry picking the stats. It was comparing 2 games played only 2 weeks apart that featured a common opponent with an elite D in their house. I thought it was interesting that in this situation Allen played about as well as Mahomes did. I found that encouraging. My post was aimed at those who continue to use Mahomes great play as a way to take a shot at Allen. And lets be real Mahomes gets a lot of love on 2BD and a lot of attention. For how many years did we have to see repeated posts reminding us that we passed on drafting Mahomes?
  6. And this is why the # of drops attributed to the Bills receivers is artificially low. Bills receivers seem to make fewer tough catches then their counterparts around the league. And while that low pass to Knox wasn't a drop it's a pass that is caught by a lot of NFL skill players.
  7. Brown & Beasley are very good but we need a big bodied WR on the field to compliment Beas & Smoke. It deprives the Bills of flexibility in the passing game.
  8. I would agree that Mahomes is better then Allen - right now. But the difference in skill players can not be disputed - at least by a rational person. I would also argue that the Bills got the Pats A+ game and the Chiefs got their B game. My point was that when both QB's played NE on the road, only a couple of weeks apart and against one of the top 3 D's in the NFL and they both played equally well.
  9. To be honest watching Sunday night football is becoming a chore & a bore. Al Micheals isn't very observant and he's got a bit of a nasty streak. And Collinsworth is insufferable and wears his favoritism on his sleeve. As for the game - the Bears fans can boo all they want but Turbisky has been running for his life. And I didn't realize the Bears had lost all 3 TE's from last season.
  10. Interesting observation in reaction to all the Mahmes love on 2BD: Versus New England Mahomes = 26/40 for 283 yards; 1 TD & 1 INT; QB rating of 84; 6 rushes for 6 yards. Total yards = 289 Allen = 13/26 for 208 yards; 2 TD's & 0 INT; QB rating of 103; 7 rushes for 43 yards. Total yards = 251 Seems like very comparable games against a great defense in their house. Sure KC beat NE 23 - 16 and the Bills lost 24 - 17.. But would folks agree that KC has a better set of skill players?
  11. This is so true. Another NFL Sunday and I've seen dozens of poorly placed balls caught by receivers making great plays. In fact it's the norm for most teams to have 5 - 10 of those kinds of passes. The ONLY thing about Allen & the Bills in these situations that's different is that Bill's receivers seem to make less of those catches. So another week of watching NFL games continues to show QB's overthrowing open receivers on the deep ball. QB's missing wide open guys on intermediate passes. QB's taking bad sacks & taking their teams out of FG range. I could go on. We put every Allen play under a microscope and declare any misfire a problem. Yet by those standards there's only 2 good QB's in the NFL. I also love the play by the Eagles Sanders there - Unselfish and Smart!
  12. Judas Priest, this is the Dolphins team some folks thought would go up and beat the Pat's in Foxborow when NE needed to win to take the division?
  13. What did I miss here? There are "Bills" fans thinking TN is better then the Bills? Really? There's a small but vocal subset of masochistic Bills fans that post on 2BD. It's nauseating if you ask me.
  14. Nice article but did you notice that Thad started covering the Bills 20 years ago at the start of their decline? I think it's pretty clear that Brown is to blame for the last 20 years.
  15. And size matters in the red zone - that guy looked pretty big.
  16. Without being privy to the Bills film room we'll never know for sure about the play design. But I think it's fair to say that Daboll's play designs are NOT getting the most out of our TE's & RB's in the passing game. The question is whether it's on the players or the design? I'm leaning towards both.
  17. I'm beginning to wonder how much scheme is contributing to the Bills offensive problems. I'm watching all these games on Red Zone and I'm amazed at all the WIDE OPEN guys on some pass plays. And it's NOT becasue they're making shifty moves like Smoke did yesterday but because the play design got them open. I'm talking about Darnold throwing a 2 yard pass to a TE that is so open he rumbles 30 yards before he gets touched. Or the 61 yard TD pass that Brees threw to a TE so open that he ran 45 yards untouched for the TD. Or the TD pass from Jackson to Ingram where he was wide open. We just don't see much (if any) guys getting that open for the Bills.
  18. Watching NFL Red Zone and I'm amazed at the catches and big plays being made. Did you guys see the catch #89 on the Ravens just made? The Bills need this kind of play making before they can elevate their offense to the next level.
  19. I'm with you here except that I would only take Mahomes. Watson is very good but I see Allen closing in on him. Those wanting to take Jackson are nuts unless they specify the caveat that they would want a complete rebuild & redirection of the offense. I think Jackson is doing great but you can't separate the unique offense he's in from his performance. Put him in the current Bill's O and IMO Jackson flounders. And I don't rule out the very real possibility that by the end of next season we wouldn't trade Allen for any other QB.
  20. You are spot on here! It's really deranged the way some fans do this with Allen. I just watched a replay of the 1st half of the Bills/Raiders 1991 Championship game and Kelly had two bad throws where he missed wide open guys about 15 yards down the field and the 1st thing I thought was that it was a good thing we didn't have social media back then!
  21. I'm astonished you apparently don't watch much football. Sure Allen misses a receiver at times but you're acting like he does it all the time. Most of his passes to Beasley are darts and right on the money. And just like Beasley & Knox will drop a well thrown pass Allen will miss a throw. It happens to every QB. I watched all 3 games yesterday and I saw all 6 QB's miss wide open guys. Allen did not stand out in doing this and he went up against the best defense playing yesterday. I just don't get the fixation with every bad pass Allen throws.
  22. Do you watch the games? On almost every screen pass Allen has NO CHOICE but to throw the ball into the ground to avoid completing a pass for a 5 yard loss. It's clear to anyone with eyes that our O-line struggles to get out in front of the screen and to block in space. There is absolutely zero evidence that Allen can't throw the screen pass. On the rare occasions where there's been room for a screen Allen has hit it EVERY time. On a couple of the 10 - 15 yard gains off the screen we had holding penalties that brought the play back. By my recollection only one screen pass has worked all season and that was the 49 yard one to Singleterry against the Redskins. In fact the inability to execute screen passes, which is not on Allen, has hurt Allen's completion %. In almost every game Allen has to throw 1 or 2 balls at the feet of the RB because the D is all over him. Those should be easy completions that pump up Allen's stats. More importantly successful screen passes neutralize those all out blitz packages thrown at the Bills. This is a serious deficiency with our offense and I don't see it as Allen's fault in the slightest.
  23. This is such an important point! The REAL test of a young QB is whether the DC's can figure them out and shut them down. How often do you see a guy come out and play lights out for a few weeks & then it all comes crashing down around them as the DC's figure out their weaknesses. There are several examples of it happening just this year. Allen's ability to improve on what needs improving is very encouraging. After last season he needed to develop his short & intermediate level passing accuracy and he did. He also had to learn how to read defenses and get to his 2nd & 3rd reads and he has. While focusing on these things, he let his long ball game get away from him. So what happened? He focused on that and we can see the results the last few games where he is throwing a much better deep pass. Allen's ability to IMPROVE every aspect of his game is huge. It's a defining quality of a young QB. Just look at how much better Allen played against NE yesterday versus the first game. Is he there yet? Hell no, but why would folks doubt that he's going to get there? If he's proven one thing since he left Wyoming is that he's willing to put in the hard work and has the physical & mental tools to keep improving his game. He improved his game from college to the Senior Bowl. He then improved his game from the Senior Bowl to the Pro tryout camps before the draft. In his rookie season Allen improved his game from before to after his injury. He then improved his game from the end of last season to the start of this season. And he improved his game from early this season to now. IMO you have to be blind or irrationally stubborn not to see this. Allen continues to get better. This is either trolling or a prime example of Allen Derangement Syndrome!
  24. Yea I know you said after the merger but you can't ignore JACK KEMP my man! And lets be honest, the Bills backed into the playoffs with Tyrod.
  25. So you jinxed us by asking this BEFORE we scored?
