11/21 Colts at Bills, Postgame Postmortem Thread

I completely disagree with this. After falling behind 14 - 0 Allen led the Bills on a TD drive to cut the lead to 14 - 7. The Bills didn't see the Ball again until the two minute warning and were down 24 - 7. At that point Allen drove the Bills into long FG range. I saw no evidence of "panic" by Allen in the first half. In the 3rd quarter on the Bills first possession Allen had a pass blocked at the LOS and then threw two nice balls with the first being dropped and the 2nd Davis slipped and instead of catching a ball in stride for a huge gain had it fly off his finger tips. After the Bills finally forced an INDY punt the next series Allen drove the Bills into FG range and then they missed the 46 yarder. I saw no evidence of Allen panicking in the Bills first two possessions of the 3rd quarter. Now Allen and the rest of the team did panic when the Colts went up 31 - 7. But the idea that Allen went into "panic mode"at the first bit of trouble is not what I saw today. What I saw today was a defense that could not stop the Colts running game. I also saw a defense that couldn't force a Colts punt until midway through the 3rd quarter.- 529 replies

11/21 Colts at Bills, Postgame Postmortem Thread

Agreed and while the offense struggled it was the defense that pooped the bed today. The Colts didn't punt until mid-way through the 3rd quarter. They scored 31 points on their first 5 possessions. Given the weather conditions this should have been a 20 - 17 type game. But for the 2nd time this season when the Bills went up against a physical offense the defense was completely blown out. The defenses play today would be like if the offense went three & out their first 5 drives and turned the ball over twice while doing so. In fact the offense did move the ball within limits. Sorry but IMO this one was on the D just like the TN loss was. -

There's only so much you can do with the dump offs and the Bills did a lot of that today. But with a penalty prone O-line that cant pass protect and a non-existent running game it only takes one negative yardage play or a penalty to wreck your check down Charlie offense. In the first half today the Bills had the ball THREE times. That's right - THREE FREAKING TIMES. And it wasn't because they were three and outing every possession. * On the Bills first possession down 7 - 0 they had a nice drive with Allen taking what the defense gave them. Then on 3rd & 3 at the Colts 30 Allen looked like he would have easily picked up the first down on a sweep only to see the play whistled dead because Ford jumped the gun. Then on 3rd & 8 we had a holding call that pushed us out of FG range and into a 3rd & 18. The next play was an INT. When you have an undisciplined O-line that can't block the short passing game is not the answer. * On the Bills 2nd possession they drove for a TD. * On the Bills 3rd possession after McKenzie's horrible fumble that gave the Colts a 24 - 7 lead the Bills drove into FG range only to see the long FG hit the goalpost. * On the Bills 4th possession at the start of the 3rd quarter two dropped passes forced the Bills into a 3 and out. -

Agreed. Win the next two games and we're sitting at 8 - 4 and first place in the AFC East. We can all agree that the Bills sucked today. If they don't play better there won't even be a wild card playoff game in the Bills future this season. I get that. But then again five weeks ago that's what EVERYONE was saying about KC when they sat at 3 - 4 after having gotten beaten badly by the Bills & Titans. Now they've won four in a row and are the 2nd hottest team in the AFC after NE. -

Call me a cantankerous, behind the times old man but what the hell is "custom wearable art"? -
And the penalties were off the chart bad. They extended at least two Jaguar drives preventing a couple of three and outs. The PF's and holding by the O-line after the Bills had crossed midfield on multiple occasions likley wiped out 6 - 10 points. There were also a couple of drops that came at crucial points in the game.

That was a hold? BS! You call a hold on 3rd and 9 to GUARANTEE that the first down is not made. Notice how garbage man Aikman made no comment on the replay clearing showing NO HOLD. It's getting harder and harder to watch the NFL. For the count: Four called penalties on the Falcons, one on the Pats.

And what impressed me the most about this game was that at the end of the 2nd quarter Allen threw a bad pick 6. He came out in the 3rd and led the Bills on a long TD drive. It was like the pick 6 only pissed him off. That told me that he had the Kelly/Elway/Farve QB gene.

Like you I am shocked at the number of people who say Allen played poorly in this game. We see this mostly on 2BD by some posters. As soon as I see a post claiming Allen didn't play all that well in the Colts game I dismiss that poster as a football illiterate who is simply trolling. The fact is that Allen played fantastic and that it was one of, if not the best, performance by a QB in the playoffs last season.
