Cinci is a good team. They remind me of our Bills... elite QB, and some stars on offense and defense, but a few holes too. They probably have a chip on their shoulder based on the fact that they represented the AFC last season and all anyone could say is that it should have been the Bills. After the offseason all the prognosticators were saying it was going to be the Bills and KC with the Bills going to the SB. They were treated like their run last season was an anomaly. Should be a very competitive game, but I am expecting another down to the wire nail biter.

Mike Gesicki is a free agent. Would the Bills take a flyer on him?

I have only noticed him as a player in the field, but having a good locker room is important too. A lot of comments about him being douchie, I am assuming there are some things he's done off-field that folks are talking about. -
Josh Allen Bashers, what's your solution?

Now that guy is always going to be sharpening his knives for Allen. Even when Allen was playing lights out last season he was the last to acknowledge it. Too biased for my taste. As much as there are folks that cherry-pick the plays they like from Allen to gloss over the things he could improve, there are those that cherry-pick just the negatives to justify their overall poor assessment of Allen as a QB. The truth is usually found somewhere closer to the middle than where these talking heads land. -

Yesterday's game is a tough one to assess. Miami went full out yolo taking their chances with the blitzes. They are decent at stopping the run, but I would have liked to have seen a few more power gap runs with Cook against that. If they are sending the house, it could slow the rush a bit and if he breaks free from that first wave of Blitzers then goodbye. Other than that, I would want to take a longer look at the game and avoid the knee-jerk. That fumble at the start of the 2nd half... give some credit to Miami for a well-timed corner blitz. Josh just needs to be aware of where he is at on the field and the likelihood that Miami may bring that pressure from the slot and our offense needs to have some effective hot routes for Allen to hit quickly in those situations. Or he can quickly throw it away, or turtle up and take the sack, anything but a fumble on the doorstep. -

Shakir can high point a ball. Knox always baffles me. He will sporadically drop the easy catch that is right to his hands on a crosser, yet will dive in the EZ and make a one handed grab around a DB and still have enough body control to get a knee in bounds with just a few inches to spare. Apparently he needs the difficulty level to be set to near impossible. -

O When folks say he does not take the layups, that is not just a single game assessment. That is Cover 1 breakdowns, Coselle breakdowns of film, its analyst across the board looking at tape where Allen has ignored wide open chip shots for low percentage plays that do not always pan out especially with this year's RZ turnovers. Its an area of his game that needs work to force defenses to defend more of the field and it is an exploitable weakness in defenses that key on Allen when he leaves the pocket. I love the play yesterday to Cook for the TD. I know it was an RPO, but the way the D-line player ran right by Cook to wrap up Allen shows just how much defenses key on Allen and ignore the other weapons on our offense. -

That guy used to kill us. He is totally underutilized in the new Dolphin offense. He is solid, great route runner, very good hands, if we had the cap to bring him in - definitely. -

There is too much absolutes in some folks that see any critique as folks hating on Allen. There is a reasonable middle ground. Particularly when I recall being such a staunch advocate of Allen from the get-go and giving him time to be coached up. If anything critique of Allen is driven more by fans desperately wanting him and the team to succeed and for Allen not to take so many unnecessary hits. Those that see the amazing things only Allen can do, also can recognize that there are often high percentage throws he needs to take more often over lower percentage heaves. That is where I think Dorsey needs to be better at finding ways to reign that behavior in to get Allen to work the sticks and use his outlet options more often. Mahomes does that well, just the shovels and dumps to his outlets that keeps him from getting decleated and keeps the chains moving. Problem is that I think Dorsey may be just as stubbornly aggressive as Allen. There are also things he can clean up around taking care of the ball... not mishandling snaps and protecting the ball better when scrambling than he did yesterday. Was wagging it around one handed like he stole a purse Allen is my QB, I will always back him, but I can still respect a player and think there are ways they can improve their game. -

Of course a win is a win, but even the ever upbeat McD said in his locker room speech, "We need to take some valuable lessons away from this game here. We can't expect to do that again and get a win out of it. Each week is going to be harder and harder..." That is all I am asking from this team, take the win, but clean up the things you can, don't do things to beat yourself, then see how our boys stack up to the best in the league. We have a great team and I want this season for them... there is a lot of skill on this team too, our 1st year players Cook/Shakir/Elam starting to come on, the next few games would be an awesome time for it all to come together. -

Truth. Every offense has to adjust to how they are not calling DPIs, there have been plenty of intances the past few weeks of defenders knocking receivers off their routes before the ball gets there and reeling in the INTs - no call. If they are not calling the physical stuff then receivers shouldn't worry about pushing off to create separation and using their hands too. We just have to adjust on both sides of the ball to how they are calling these games... whining about how those calls used to go wont help. -
That's the danger of extending that ball, you have to be deep enough to jump or push that you know it is breaking the plane of the goal line. Huntley did not have either. That hurts, but let's see if the Ravens can move past that... a lot of time left.. We will see what they are made of now.

They are doing what they can with what they have, but yeah. It's pretty ugly. Their best bet is what they are doing... run and dink and dunk down the field... drag it out and keep the Bengals offense off the field and hope for some turnovers. Keep it close and hope you can steal a win.

In those cases we need to send our players to the magical Dolphins tent where brains are rehabbed over commercial breaks. In all seriousness, I thought he got his bell rung with that hit to the side of the helmet, but they were working on his abdomen. -
Have to take Chase away and take your lumps elsewhere. He is where Joe goes when he needs the big play, much like Diggs for Allen. Force a QB to have to go somewhere else and they hold the ball just a bit longer for the rush to get home. They have a lot of weapons so if you are picking your poison, you could do worse than trying to stop Chase.

Not sure, but they were working his foot around and he was pounding fluids so cramping maybe??? We will see, but hopefully nothing serious because things seem like they are starting to click for the kid. -

That's a reasonable take. I have more respect now for how much Daboll was able to reign Allen in without taking away what makes him special. That could not have been an easy thing to balance. Funny how some things come into focus only after someone moves on. Dorsey is also a very emotionally charged person (we have seen this and Allen has alluded to it) and Josh is Josh, so we may be in for a roller-coaster ride for as long as they are paired up. -

It is not unreasonable when your defense has given up a long time-consuming drive that ended in a score to NOT have your offense go out and pitch a 3 and out of low percentage passes that puts them right back on the field. Dorsey has just shown too often this season a lack of situational awareness that he needs to correct. It's not about taking shots against cover 0, it's about taking them at the right time. There is value in slowing things down and trying to work the sticks at certain points in a game. -

Other than some 3rd and very long plays they continue to give up, I thought the defense played pretty well. They had a few opportunities during those few long scoring drives where they could have gotten off the field. Just needed better execution and tackling. Regardless, they were not the reason this game got as close as it did. -

So easy to see Daboll's fingerprints on the Giants offense. The way receivers are expected to block downfield, designed QB runs... -

He was an curious selection with how much zone we play, BUT having a DB that can play man when needed is never a bad thing. Zone can be taught and executed by more DBs, but good man coverage depends more on raw athleticism IMO. There are a lot of teams that rely heavily on timing routes and disrupting timing is key. DBs that can jam and redirect WRs off the line are key to playing those teams and DPI rules seem to be getting more relaxed which increases the value of DBs that are physical. Miami is very much a timing offense and Mac is not great off schedule so we do need that skillset. -

This sounds like when my teen kids would argue with me. Just exaggerate for dramatic effect. "So fine, if you won't buy me a nice car I will just have to walk to school, and fail everything when I am late every day." "Well, there is a bus son." The offense played well enough to win and poorly enough to lose. The adults can probably handle discussing both. -

They may have decided not to follow Hill and rather just let Tre play one side and Elam the other. But yeah, I saw both on him throughout the game. Elam is pretty good at jamming and playing press, a bit more natural at that than Tre.
