NFL Week #18 - Patriots* @ Bills - Post Game Thread
WideNine replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Odd thing when watching the body language of Allen and our offense. How relaxed Allen was walking in and out of the huddle... Just seems like they did not take NE seriously; Like they just knew they could turn it on and win. Just my take, but it reminded me of how Brady and NE used to act against our Bills. No matter how desperate the Bills were or how close the game was, NE just had this attitude that they could win it whenever they felt like stepping on the gas. Hoping this is how the AFC East plays out each year for a very long time - with the Bills on top and the rest fighting to find the backdoor into the post season. -

I can envision Cook as that back you can easily motion to the slot. Nothing against McKenzie and Bease, but I could see the Bills shifting to more Cook and Shakir in the slot as they learn the ropes. They are both pretty sure handed and offer explosiveness from that position. It takes time to learn to read NFL defenses/zones, but Cook vs most LBs and Safeties is a mismatch. If Allen motions him and sees those kind of matchups it will likely be a money play. Not sure they get there this year, but it is an option Dorsey could explore. -

I don't think Gabe's handle on the WR2 spot is that secure. Not saying they shop him. This is a patient coaching staff, BUT I would not be shocked if they target a WR in the draft that can push Gabe. He needs a strong finish this season. -

He has been protecting the ball and running with a bit more decisiveness than Motor. His pass-pro is a bit hit and miss as Motor is pretty good picking up extra rushers coming free, but Cook is getting better. He has earned more touches. If Allen hits him more on those dumps, Cook could make one guy miss and take it to the house. He has that kind of breakaway speed. Dorsey just has to keep reinforcing that habit in Allen as it will put defenses in a lot more conflict situations. With the way they are dropping guys into coverage and spying Allen, they leave a lot of space in front of the sticks. -

True. Gabe drops did not help the stats either. Not sure what is going on with Gabe, gaffes seem more concentration than injury-related. Hope he recovers form or the Bills are shopping for WR2 opposite Diggs. -

Not sure who said he was not good. Making some poor decisions and missing the layups... yeah he does that. He is usually clutch down the stretch even if the game gets close due to some brain cramps. Davis... not so much this season. -

C'mon... Allen has had some brain farts out there today. Recognizing those and hating on our QB are different things. If anything the folks that get most frustrated when he lobs an INT or misses the easy throw are the ones that desperately want him to succeed. -

Yup. Diggs is just fine if the ball is where it needs to be. Nice long ball Allen. -

Rookie needs more time to bake. He was there, just leverage and positioning so he can play the ball instead of being screened from it by the guy he is covering. -

Looks like Frazier had his lighter pass rush package in there, but NE knows what fronts to run against. They are not quite at the pass, pass, pass place in the game. -

Dugger is in on a lot of tackles for NE, but I swear he is hurt every series. Not that I distrust Belechick and think his players may get hurt for one down (a lot) just to get the right defensive personnel and call into the game. But yeah... I don't trust Bill. -

There was a time when our defense would occasionally have a few tackles for a loss. Even better, get off the field on 3rd down. Come on boys, this is what you want to show Damar? You sucking and playing soft? -

Ball has to be somewhere near him. Diggs has a great high point, but even he can't pull them down where Allen has been sailing them. Folks can hate in me all they want, but Diggs is playing fine if Josh gets it there. -

We are playing NEs receivers like they are Hill and Waddle. Need to challenge them more. Pass rush has been non-existent unless we blitz too, and the Pats have kept a good balance to keep our guys from teeing off. We squandered chances to break this wide open on Offense. -

True. And he had Cook wide open at the sticks for a fresh set of downs and just got his TD tunnel vision. Not sure how many seasons it is going to take to get Josh to see those, or if he will ever learn. He gets too focused on passing into the deeper shell zone where all the DBs have dropped into coverage. Frustrating. -

Last few games I have seen Allen motioning for the play to get in faster. For a QB who operates so well with a quick rhythm, they need to work on that for him. All QBs operate better in a rhythm, but Allen in particular takes his game to another level. Getting the plays out in time is something that is not that hard to fix.
