A very flawed team for most of the season. Had to claw our way to wins against midling opponents most of the season and any attempt to discuss the issues drew a strange barrage of hate on the board. Kudos to the players on this team who did fight and claw all year to pull out the wins we had. We are the class of the AFC East, but not in the same league (this season) with the Bengals or Chiefs. Beane needs to simply do what he has to do to fix both lines. There are popular players he needs to let go of to make room I am sure and some tough decisions. They need to do some real soul searching as to why our DL got steam rolled by backups and why our starting OL got consistently beat by 3 and 4 man rushes and cannot open run lanes. There are guys playing out the final years to either big long-term contracts or letting them walk. Today's game made you ask where are the playmakers on this team.

He has only had a few solid games this year. I like Dawkins as a person, but we need a LT that can protect Allen and Dawkins has not lived up to that expectation this season. Slow moving his feet, gets bull rushed back into the pocket, gets beat on inside and outside moves... Teams like to settle on the LT, I get it. But I would not mind if the Bills bring in someone who could really push for that LT spot. May light a fire under his rear.

If we are honest Josh's accuracy on dumps and swing passes has never been his strong suit. It is why defenses don't really focus on covering those areas. That, and the fact that Allen usually prefers to throw deeper. It would be a good thing for him to focus on working with his RBs in the offseason he has weapons in Hines and Cook who are effectively crippled if we cannot use them that way.

If missing Jones creates this kind of mismatch for our DL against backups, Beane has to seriously reevaluate his investments across that line. Rousseau, and Jones have been showing up all year. Oliver is effective, but usually if we have someone like Jones next to him... We know Von can bring it. The rest?

The pressures matter, the sacks matter. He gets paid too much to play at the level he has been playing this season. He has been really inconsistent and Allen doesn't need that on his blind side with Brown on the other side. He needs to get back to where he was or they need to start looking for their next LT.

I thought this before... Cook needs better cleats. He has slipped a lot in past games... should be an easy fix if your equipment folks are on top it. For a weapon like Cook you want him to be able to make quick cuts. Our OL talent needs more investment than what it has had... and some push and e v a l of existing high $ contracts.

I am kind of glad Josh is not getting as much of this ball washing that they are piling on Mahomes. Can kind of see why it is a turn-off. Seems like everytime they really preasures Mahomes he found Kelce, so you know what you have to take away to make him hold the ball a bit longer.

It is the way officials are not calling OPIs and DPIs this season. It allows for a lot more physical play from both sides of the ball if the trend continues. Makes the mismatch of DBs and Safeties on TEs even more enticing as TEs can get that pushoff at the top of their routes and create space for themselves.

Greg Cosell Preview of Bills vs Bengals on One Bills Live
WideNine replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting article from The Ringer that dives deeper into the successes and some of the things that are not working as well this season. Goes into some comparison data between Daboll's offense and Dorsey's too that is interesting. https://www.theringer.com/platform/amp/nfl/2023/1/20/23563615/josh-allen-buffalo-bills-offense -
Execution ultimately falls on the coaches, but true - players have to run the right routes, catch the ball, protect the ball, and block. DPIs are a complete mystery to me this season, but they certainly are calling less of them and allowing DBs to be more physical before the ball gets there. The good news is that the Bills are middle of the pack on penalties as a team, and for a first year OC I think Dorsey and his staff can take some pride in that, and they have done a pretty good job getting plays in on time. There were a few instances where Allen wanted the play faster, but I don't recall any leading to a delay of game. There are a lot of positives out there that fly under the radar.

He and Dorsey have had better games. Most of the dialogue here was fair for a one-game assessment. Some as expected was a bit knee-jerk. I thought Miami's all-out yolo on blitzes actually was pretty effective at generating opportunities in a game where they should not have hung with us with the QB they had and their top RB out. Yet they fired their defensive staff after. Go figure. The offensive gaffes happened and they put our defense in a hole a few times, led directly to scores, and kept Miami in the game. Folks are just going to have to come to peace with that. BUT one game is one game and not an indictment of all that Allen or Ken Dorsey bring to this team. Critique on play calls or execution within the context of a game is not the same as what many sports pundants on the outside do to churn controvery and generate clicks. Where they use things like "never" or "always" when describing Allen and the team's play.
