Scoring and not turning the ball over in close games is the be all, end all. Possessions: 10 Cinci’ 9 Buffalo Yards: 397 Cinci’ 317 Buffalo Turnovers: 0 Cinci’ 2 Buffalo TOP: 37mins Cinci’ 23mins Buffalo Cincinnati punted after Josh’s INT on a drive that went -1 yards. After the fumble the D gave up an 85 yard drive but still held their own in the RZ when it mattered. They gave up on massive catch to Chase during it who, with it, was still held in check this whole game for a stud #1. Our drive that followed we went 75 yards in 4:36. If Von Miller makes that tackle instead of falling on his face on 3rd down on their last drive, we might be talking a different story. We might not. They could have kicked a FG. Which really would have been a wash without the Kincaid fumble in the RZ as we come away with at least 3. Either way our defense isn’t that bad for missing key components throughout the season; an all-pro LB, all-pro CB and a run stuffing DT who was playing lights out for not being a marquee name on the unit. The only play I hang the hat on a failed drive for them is that TD to Sample at the end of the 1st half; horrible tackling and recognition on a big 3rd and 7 with under 2 minutes to play. Cinci’ did not turn the ball over, we did. That team rolled over a defense considered the consensus #1 by hanging 31 the week prior. Need to score consistently. Need to mitigate the turnovers.

That’s on Torrence and the coaching staff to rectify that. But as for on the field, a seasoned vet like Morse could make sure he has his assignments correct before the snap if it’s a consistent problem. On the rest, I see more often than not on a lot of our passing plays, a clutter or clogged area that isn’t out of design to get picks or rubs. Pretty easy to sit Pat and squat on your assignment. Personnel as well as coaching plays a part in that no doubt.

His career went into a coffin. Maybe he picked that up along the way… In all seriousness, a punter isn’t changing this season.

So, logically, if they do cut White what is their replacement plan? Go after Jaylon Johnson on a similar contract as it was apparent from reports they were seriously interested in acquiring him during the trade deadline. If Sneed hits FA due to KC not offering him a new deal, which I doubt, you would like to think they make an attempt there also. SB winner, versatile in scheme and a gritty player. Win-win-win.

Would be nice to see if they try a Benford/Elam/Douglas trio running man across the board. I love Taron but he’s been abused in several games. Maybe that was the thinking behind trading for Rasul as he primarily played NCB? 🤷♂️

Why does Buffalo carry running backs on their roster?
BBFL replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tanner Hudson, Drew Sample and Irv Smith Jr. all had pretty decent games and had a significant chunk of their stats for the 8 games this year against us. Need to get everyone involved instead of the usual suspects. Got to try something else sometimes which is why they carry so many. -
When the play calling is being labeled as sh-t, this makes more sense. A lot of it in there…

Are people really that unhappy with our 4-2 Bills?

Let’s get a “We love Dorsey!” chant instead. Would do as much good.

Rasul is going to help, he didn’t look awful last night. Hopefully that’s a building block for the secondary to see a dramatic improvement. Neither was Gilly, look how that worked out. Taron plays a lot of man when the rest are running zone concepts. Maybe we get a look at that being the case with Kaiir. Worth a try to have him be available and doing something if they were completely unwilling to trade him like the reports…

Watched the game again… 3 man pressure was nuts from Cinci’ whilst we invest a large portion of our resources in a DLine and rushers who at times go absolutely invisible. Think if we struggle to get there blitzing and just a regular 4 man rush that things need to be reevaluated for that portion of the defense. We are all clearly upset and need to find the tangible reasons as to why we lost and have been losing games. A multitude of reasons and the players are why but the players are the only ones performing what the coaches want. Is it players more than coaches or vice versa? Either way, something ain’t right… 😔

Been in them games without the D forcing a turnover though man… 🤷♂️ All losses by 6 or >. That’s one TD in each loss. ONE. How bout they score some more with one of the best the league can showcase @ QB & WR.

Wow. 2 big drops by Ekeler. Weird from a reliable guy. -
Going to be a hot take for some posters here but I honestly believe if the offense rights the ship to what they have been the past few seasons that the defense itself improves. They aren’t great but for being a dead last team the past few weeks in DVOA, we have been in every game. They’ve actually kept us in close proximity to teams once they go up 2-3 scores. There is certain issues and statistics that are indicative of a poor defense but our biggest problem is not scoring consistently or periodically throughout games.

I always wonder how high rotations help younger guys you draft high and hope to be a cornerstone… For guys like Von, Shaq and Phillips it’s understandable to keep them fresh and on the field for what they do best.
-
Trust The Process.
-
Unfortunately that is too little, too late. Maybe we can tag and trade him…? 🤔😂
-
It’ll be different. TTP.
-
It is all dependent on where we finish this year but I don’t see us falling in the top 15. So for Coleman, Harrison Jr. and Odunze you will undoubtably be trading up in the draft.

You need playmakers in this league. We have a very short supply of them.

Every loss or close game shouldn’t come down to a defensive player being present or not. A game here or there, sure. But this is a trend. You win a game in today by scoring the most points and that is where we are struggling. This defense, for all it’s missing players, are doing a decent job to have us in games. -
You’re absolutely right about the volume of negative threads that gets made but that’s the whole point of a forum; to institute an opinion or take and see if the people you share a common interest agree or disagree with your perception. Is it unnecessary? definitely. But they have their place. People are upset. Rightly so. This team has underperformed against sub par teams. Last night’s game is just a continuation of the past 4 weeks where we haven’t played very good football. Milano out hurts. Daquon out hurts. Tre out hurts. These missing players aren’t the reason this team is misfiring on offense and losing games. Nor should it when you have a Top 3 QB in today’s game. For a defensive unit being undermanned they have actually been the sole reason we’ve have had any chance to be in every loss we’ve had. No more than 6 points in each one for a total of 21 points. Our defense isn’t that great this year… Neither is the offense. The offense was and is how we have won the majority of our games since Josh’s arrival. #LAMP
