So the Better Business Bureau is the ‘BBB’? 🤔
-
Totally agree. I say this point as a Bills fan when discussing MVP’s… I love Josh. He is the man but in terms of neutrality, Mahomes edges him due to the accolades and success post-season (Coaching plays a huge part in that). Josh however is undoubtably more valuable to the franchise he plays than most QB’s out there… Without Josh this team is barely scraping 6/7 wins. Donezo without Josh period. However, you would like to remain competitive to at least stand a chance… What about Minshew?

So with Montgomery heading to Detroit, one would presume he is Williams’ replacement and he won’t be returning? Think it is a bit of a drop in talent but the contract is what speaks volumes. Will be less than what Williams will fetch; whether it’s back in Detroit or elsewhere. impressed with Brad Holmes and the roster he’s setting up in Detroit. Super intriguing to see where they’re headed after the dysfunction and misery theyve sustained over the past few years.

Draft Prospect Interviews with Bills - Post 'em here
BBFL replied to Yantha's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is anyone able to find information about offensive linemen we interviewed? Can’t see to find anything appertaining to names/targets… Only name I am seeing is OG: Torrence (FLA) Thanks -

😂 One can only hope. He didn’t have that great a start to the year but definitely reverted to his previous play. That whole team was a let down, especially defensively, yet he somehow graded one of his best seasons to date.

That’s where I think Kim matters most. Being a Buffalonian cannot be overlooked. She understands the bond between city and their team. -

He’s obviously capable but I think his best play is worrying about himself per sé. Dude is a dog, definitely a lynchpin to the D. Letting him, hypothetically, just play is when Milly is at his best. -
In principle one would have to agree seeing as the league is predominantly a passing one but there was a report alluding to the assignment of cap space and it appears the league values a QB’s #1 target as the second most important position on the team - financially. Obtaining a top end prospect at a high priced position on a rookie friendly deal for 5 years wouldn’t be the worst thing for this FO to do. The best would be build the offensive line for Josh and procure depth and talent for defensive that will be cost effective assignments down the road (no need for financial splashes to resolve issues which have shown an average D can win and get you to the big dance). Wouldn’t hate anything that goes toward the O in the bigger picture but holding out next year for a WR would be awesome… Odunze from Washington and both Buckeyes; Marvin Harrison Jr. & Egbuka would be the icing on the cake. No way Marvin makes it out of top 10 and no way we pick there. Unless… 🤐

Imagine working a job behind someone, waiting in the wings for your defining moment only to fall into the same role elsewhere and wait in the wings of the younger brother. Rough! 😂 Great option to acquire. Very underrated talent.

1 year removed from a deal that put him top 5 $@TE. Ouch. 😬

2018 was hypothetically one for the ages… Josh stands alone followed closely by Lamar. You never know what’s going to happen. Have to keep an open mind and be hopefully consistent at trying to find the guy to turn your future around. Reminds me of the 2011 draft in terms of prospects being questionable and a mad scramble for QBs.

The concern is a guy getting top dollar (top 5 at DE) who’s coming into the tail end of his career. He was bought for closing. Would you rather Von be closing an opponents entire season than a regular game? So far out of the 2/3 (yes the deal is 6) years we will have him before likely parting ways, it will have been, depending on your perspective half or a third of them when it actually matters… At this point I’d rather him ride the pine until the snaps absolutely matter and/or playoff time.
-
Thanks. Seems like a level headed assessment. I love Von but that sword to get us to the SB wasn’t one I was hoping the Bills were willing to die on. They were and we live with the hopeful consequences. There was a lot of fans suggesting that the pass rush shouldnt have been the biggest priority going into last off-season, especially with the amount invested and tied up in the defensive line to begin with. So does that possible minor adjustment/reset to the roster begin next offseason or do they continue rolling the dice without change in roster priority going into 2023-24? One would hope they are at the same gauge of principles the majority of the fan base is at… protect Josh and maximize the elite talent he possesses.

So ideally where, in a perfect setting, would you be taking space from? Looking at the contracts for the next few years I concur that tight is the appropriate phrase. Not much wiggle room without rearranging numbers that sit atop of the pile.
-
There is absolutely no way they trade out of that spot now they are there. You need a QB. Whether you get the wrong or right one @ 4/5/6/7 etc. is at the decision of other teams and how the draft falls. They are guaranteed to have the pick for franchise QB in their own control. If, idiotically, they trade out of that just for assets then why trade to 1 to begin with just to have a potential crapshoot? You’ve given up one of the few proven “assets” the team actually had in Moore…

Steeler fans absolute hate Edmunds. He’s honestly similar to ours… One they feel over-drafted and under-productive. If Edmunds walks and you go the option of a FA Safety/DB to fill the shoes of Poyer you would think CGJ or JB3 would be a target. Doubt we offer them the kind of money they will fetch though as it’s going to probably be in line with Minkah/Derwin/Marcus Williams @ 4-5yrs/70m+… Nasir Adderly (LAC), Mike Edwards (TB) and Will Harris (DET) are all intriguing options available on the market to fill Poyer’s role. Maybe Julian Love (NYG) and Thornhill (KC) too? This year seems to have a decent amount of solid players who you won’t have to break the bank for and could be a great pairing with Hyde whilst not being a weak link if, heavens forbid, Micah gets injured again.

Yes, he got a ring. Was integral part of that SB season before getting hurt. I believe OBJ was signed because Woods was done for the year. Think that Championship holds more weight for him. “Home town pro football team”, in his home state… home county in fact. So you got it right on the head, payday was the right move.

You don’t think they can turn it around and creep into the P/O’s by capturing a division title? Tennessee is in literal liquidation; weird why they wouldn’t try and ship a few of these cuts into picks seeing as they only have 5 come April (I believe). Indy? Yikes! What you got going on there?! Team was poised to compete the past few years but bad decisions at QB still lead them down that rabbit hole. Jacksonville are coming off a reasonable 9-8 record from 3-14 the year before. One which they got hot against underwhelming teams to round out their year. Who knows what you’re getting next year. They have the cap space, the draft ammo and potentially a coach players will be willing to play for. With that division as it stands… Why not just winning period but taking the division? EDIT: They also have the third easiest schedule for 2023-24 @ .431 OW%

Man… #28… He looks Cooked. 👀
-
Not particularly. Moton & Ekwonu are the only decent O Linemen they have who are worth anything IMO. They are not going to trade either for 3-5 rounders.
-
Can’t disagree. It was the right move. I still think he can become the receiver we all projected after that game. Logically it’s going to be tough to see him doing that here long term on team friendly financials. He is absolutely a starter in the league, a reasonable if not solid #2, I just feel if you can get some value in a deal that brings in another rookie wage on the books it may work out better long term. He’s going to get a reasonable contract, especially if he repeats last (“underwhelming”) season numbers. The bigger question that determines how valuable he is going into this season is what production will you get if you ballpark 100 targets to Shakir, Knox or any other FA / prize rookie you draft….? Do you walk away with 50/850/6+ at a minimum?
