Too Early Mock Draft?
PetermansRedemption replied to RocCityRoller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Average running backs are a dime a dozen. Above average to good running backs, not so much. You definitely don’t take one in the first 2 rounds. Rounds 3-6 are the sweet spot for a RB. I’m all for taking one in the 3rd. If you look at the good RB’s in the league, most were actually drafted. The only notable exception is Phillip Lindsay, but we will see if he can replicate his freshman season. -
Or maybe Zay shouldn’t have been relied on to be the number 1 or 2 receiver immediately. If he wasn’t on a team of cast off WR’s he could have developed properly. Relying on a 2nd round pick in his second year as your top option is not a recipe for success. Even with that, Zay had 652 yards and 7 TDS, nothing to sneeze at. His yards per game went from 20 in his first season to 40 in his second. He has improved. Now that he isn’t going to be relied on as “the guy” he might actually be able to develop some. You keep Zay for at least one more year, likely two.

KR/WR Andre Roberts (Jets) to Bills

Averaged 14.1 yards on 23 returns. Pretty good in my opinion. -

Don’t forget he returns punts too. That’s another couple of touches per game. -
With all the moves, I'm now conflicted at 9

If there is any way to get Josh Allen, it’s Josh Allen, 100%. But I think he goes top 4 at worst. Could go 2-3 range easily. -

Love the signing. This was a desperate need. I can’t remember the last time the Bills actually has a big play in the return game. -
What if Metcalf is BPA at draft time?

I don’t think the WR signings preclude Buffalo from taking a WR. I actually think it’s a better situation to draft a WR now than prior to the FA signings. Now he can come in and ease into the lineup. Take a year or two to fully gain the number one receiver role (unless he blows you away). -
WR John Brown (Ravens) to the Bills

Quoted for truth. I’ve been pushing this since the signing. He was on pace for a very very good year with a QB that actually throws and isn’t a glorified RB. -
Absolutely. He has a huge uphill battle to not be a bust at the NFL level IMO. Not that my opinion means much ?. But if the Cardinals didn’t take him first overall I am curious to see if he would be the first or second QB off the board. From all I’ve seen so far, I would take Haskins over him. And I’m not very high on Haskins either.

Ziggy Ansah to visit bills

I have a feeling this will be the final “big” free agent contract the Bills dish out this year. -
Lombardi tweets Barr might not be the only flip

He was absolutely paid based on his 2017, 7 TD year. I believe they can get out of it with no dead money after year 1. That should tell us all we need to know. They clearly don’t value him too highly. The 2nd and 3rd years are just placeholder years. They are there in case they don’t find anything better. It’s basically a 1 year deal with a team option for year 2 and 3 at the same cost as year 1. It is actually a really good contract for the team. This is earth shattering news. I must follow you on Twitter ? -

I believe if they make Anderson an official coach he is only allowed limited contact with Allen during the off season. He would have to be an independent contractor ala Jordan Palmer, and that is kind of going down a slippery slope considering he was just on the roster. -
Gettleman - idiot or genius?

I’m pretty certain Odells multiple 1000+ receiving yard seasons are what made him a superstar. Guy has put up 1000 yards, at least, in every season. Except two years ago where he was hurt and only played in 4 games. He has 44 TD’s in 5 seasons and that includes his injured season. His numbers speak for themselves, Odell is a superstar with or without the media. -

I don’t like Anderson at all, but it’s clear this regime does. I have to believe behind the scenes he’s really helping Allen out. So you would be looking at Barkley being cut, which isn’t going to happen after that extension. If they could stash him on the PS I would be all for it. But no way a 4-5 round QB isn’t getting poached. UDFA on the other hand, not a bad idea to have one of those QB’s floating around the PS.
