  1. I'm guessing that's Singletary right there at 203 and 19 top speed. He's a nice player, but the Bills need to add a back who places higher on such a graph.
  2. Yeah. I honestly had no idea Shakira was even still doing music. Either way, don't really care. I watch football games for football; not commercials or halftime theatrics. To each their own.
  3. I think the Bills were actually an underachieving team, which is at least partially why fans wanted Rex GONE. They had alot of talent and weren't getting proportionate results. McDermott and Beane went a different route and got rid of guys who didn't fit what they were building, but McD inherited a "talented" football team. They've gotten to the playoffs twice in 3 seasons, so I'm not complaining. That being said, they have A LOT to prove in terms of acquiring offensive talent.
  4. Agree completely on the keys for Allen and I'm also not sure about Jackson's longevity. It looks like the strategy is (wisely) to let him get his rushing yards, but take away the bread and butter tosses to the tight ends. It's a pick your poison situation, but it definitely "worked" for the Titans. I think the Bills had the same strategy; just happened to catch us a few times. If you look at the playoff game, he had 20 rushes for 143 yards which is pretty remarkable if you consider they were down from the start. Doesn't mean you just let him run wild, but the strategy (appears to be) to rely on the front 7 to slow him down "enough," but do all you can to take away those TE's. So again, I just don't know about this QB class. The class was billed as "generational," but I'm old enough to remember 1999; TIM COUCH/Donovan McNabb/AKILI SMITH/Daunte Culpepper/CADE MCNOWN. So that's 3 flat out BUSTS, one very good QB (McNabb), and one guy who had some decent seasons(Culpepper). Not exactly generational. It IS too early to draw final conclusions on this class, but there are some similarities emerging. As I said before, Allen, for me, is the wildcard. I wouldn't be surprised it he doesn't improve in the areas you mentioned and remains a middle of the road guy, but I also wouldn't be shocked if he puts in so much work that he continues to defy analytics. He's already exceeded my expectations, so I'm much more open to the possibility that I was wrong initially. I'm far from sold, but I feel better about his chances now than I did when he was drafted. Rosen/Mayfield/Darnold. I just don't see greatness or even the potential for greatness. But that's just like, my opinion.
  5. There is certainly an amount of projection involved, but two seasons in is not too early to start thinking about the possibility. Outside of Jackson, the other 4 QB's have some serious question marks. Based on recent history, we generally have a decent idea as to who these are by now. Time will tell. As far as Darnold and Mayfield go, they COULD turn into franchise guys, but I don't personally see it. Allen is the guy I view as being the least "settled."Definitely improved a great deal in year 2. Still has a LONG ways to go, but he's got the highest ceiling. Doesn't mean he'll get there, but he's got a better shot than the other two IMO.
  6. Rosen does not have the pre-requisite arm strength required to excel at the NFL level, especially when you take into account his lack of mobility. He's in this position because he's simply not a good QB. People get really hung up on first round draft picks and the expectations that come along with that. It means nothing. There's a LONG list of first round quarterbacks who washed out of the league. I don't care about his personality or any of that nonsense. He's not good. I understand he's played under rough circumstances, but he doesn't pass the eye test. I caught large segments of games in 18' and one thing stood out when Rosen was in there; even when he made the proper read, which he does pretty well, he didn't have the zip on his passes to get the ball to the receiver on time. Many of these throws occurred when he had a clean pocket and a solid platform to throw from. He also doesn't have a great feel for pressure and where it's coming from. Guys like Brees and Brady don't have great arms(still better than Rosen's), but they're ELITE at sidestepping pressure and creating platforms/throwing lanes. Baker's not that good.(IMO) Darnold's not that good(IMO.) Rosen is not good at all.(IMO) Jackson is good, but I'm not sure how long it'll last. Allen is really the wildcard here. If he's able to elevate his game, the class looks quite a bit better. If not, this could very well be a historically bad QB class. Brees has ELITE pocket presence, which allows him to sidestep pressure and create throwing lanes. That's how he's been able to do what he does with his physical limitations. Chimed in before reading all the responses. Appears my entire post has already been covered.
  7. Yeah. I really don't understand the deal with Kenyon Drake. All the guy does is ball and he gets bounced from Miami for nothing. I'd be all for that.
  8. Based on these metrics, the greatest area of improvement from Allen needs to be YPA. Russ was more than 1.5 better in this category. Josh needs to become more "efficient." That comes with better recognition, better timing, and better ball placement. "Taking what the defense gives" you doesn't necessarily mean the checkdown. Sometimes as the play develops, Josh has a tendency to lock onto his primary target and that leads to a degree of inefficiency. Having said that, he is raw. The hope is that experience will slow things down for him. It goes without saying the Bills need to upgrade the skill position talent. But I said it anyways.
  9. Nobody has to feel "bad" for the guy, but he paid the ultimate price for his horrible decisions. He paid his debt as far as I'm concerned. Anyways, life is complicated. Of course he had to be held accountable for taking lives. But recognizing the guy had some SERIOUS psychological issues going on should not be conflated with justifying his actions.
  10. I personally think Spain is a major culprit and should be replaced. That's my opinion. He's ALWAYS graded out pretty well as a pass blocker and not so good as a run blocker. Same goes for Morse, but he ain't going anywhere and there are intricacies at the C position that make him valuable. I'll just have to assume he's good at blocking assignments and all that jazz. The problem is that when you look at the line in totality, there really isn't a single "mauler." I think Dawkins is solid, especially for an LT, but even he's not a mauler. I like Feliciano, but again; not a mauler. I assume Ford will kick inside to RG or LG, but I'm not personally sold on him even at guard. Not a popular take, but I think he might be JAG. He did 18 reps of 225 at the combine and that has always stuck with me. At his size, that's just not right. Hopefully he can build strength over time, but he's not a tackle. When I'm watching the Titans, I'm extremely impressed by Henry, but also focus on Saffold who quite frequently manhandles the defender. That type of run blocker doesn't exist on our squad. So you've got Dawkins and Morse who are set at their positions. Beyond that, I just don't know. I'm OK with having a JAG at one of the guard spots, but I would love to see them upgrade the OTHER guard spot as well as RT. A tall task considering they also need weapons, but they've gotta find a combination that generates some push. I don't know about pitch count with Singletary, but I've seen him look a bit gassed after a big gain. Of course that's when Daboll goes right back to the well for no gain. I've never been a fan of following up an energy expending run by going back to the same guy, but that's a whole different convo. We DO need another back; someone who can get you 4-5 tough yards. Basically, what Gore was SUPPOSED to be. So there's a whole lot of things I'd like to see done regarding the run game, but I assume they're going to prioritize weapons. We'll see if they can start hitting on offensive players because they certainly need to.
  11. Yeah. This is exactly why the Bills need to get a MUCH stronger run game going. They need to add a RUN BLOCKING LG/RT AND another back. Given McDermott's style, it's kind of baffling that they haven't focused more energy on this. If the Bills could have run the ball effectively against Houston, whole different ballgame. The Titans are the Bills with a run game.
  12. Exactly. Same with Head Coach's and GM's. The revolving door is not the problem. If we have the wrong guy at GM, HC, or QB, holding on isn't the answer. I'm fairly confident the Bills have a solid GM(he's done well, but he must start hitting on offensive acquisitions.) I'm very confident the Bills have a solid Head Coach. I'm 50/50 on the Bills having a franchise QB. Given McDermott's style and ability to "manufacture" wins, this team can remain competitive even if Allen doesn't progress. But if Allen doesn't progress, we probably ain't winning a Super Bowl. I want to see them hoisting that trophy. That's the ultimate objective.
  13. I don't think that offer is "sweetening the pot." Grown man making a decision that the benefit of football no longer outweighs the long term health impact. No issues whatsoever. That's HIS call.
  14. Another thought on where I think he needs to improve; recognition and timing. I'm not nearly as concerned about the accuracy issue if taken in a vacuum. He's usually accurate enough when he finds the proper target and delivers. He's got to improve in terms scanning the field, finding the right target, and delivering on time in stride. Of course we've seen some wildly inaccurate throws in which this isn't applicable. He's never going to be the most accurate guy in the league. But what needs to happen is for the game to slow down enough for him to properly deliver the ball to the correct target. He's good enough in other areas to miss a few on occasion if he can just get the timing and recognition thing down. Beane's got to acquire at least one high level playmaker. There's no doubt about that.
  15. I'm with this line of thinking. Josh has shown me a great deal of promise, but I remain somewhat unconvinced he's going to emerge as an upper echelon QB. Time will tell. He's certainly got the ability. He also made strides in year two which is a VERY positive development. Thing with Josh is he's not going to "bust." He works his tail off and he's got too much raw talent. The question remains; is he a franchise QB or a middle of the road guy? However; I can't get down with the posts that imply regression in year 3 would be "part of the process." That's not how it works. Not a single TRUE Bills fan in the world wants this scenario; it would be devastating for the franchise. But it's at least a possibility if we're being honest. SO IF, IF, IF, IF, IF, IF, IF Allen regresses or even remains stagnant, I'm perfectly willing to accept that they MAY, MAY, MAY have to start considering their options. I don't need to see him become Mahomes, but I need to see him make some strides, become more efficient, and ultimately more productive in the passing game. I don't believe that's asking too much. If the doomsday scenario of regression were to occur, I'm begrudgingly willing to accept that there may be yet another lost season as they sort it out. I've been in this thing for 30 years; IF, IF, IF, it doesn't work out, I'll just have to wait......AGAIN. These are nothing but message board opinions. At the end of the day, what's going to matter for the Bills is JOSH ALLEN himself refining his game. The opportunity remains his for the taking. He's just gotta go out and do it on a consistent basis so we can officially cross QB off the list of question marks.
  16. Yeah. It's not at all uncommon and I have to believe a SP could be beneficial for Allen. The production has yet to match the raw TALENT, and I believe at least some of that is attributable to over-thinking. The "fearless" thing seemed to have a positive effect for a couple weeks, but it faded. I'd like to see him just "playing football" on a consistent basis.
  17. I thought heading into the season that they should have LANDED either Clowney or Clark. Beane was interested, but it didn't happen. It was apparent that the offense wasn't going to be particularly good, and the defense could potentially be the kind of dominant unit that WINS football games. We don't lose that 16 point lead against Houston OR give up that game winning drive at Cleveland with a better pass rush. Just wouldn't happen. They're building for their long haul and that's their prerogative. Results have been better than what we've had around these parts in a LONG time. But I would have gone a different route and made that one big move for a pass rusher. McDermott.
  18. What in the world does this even mean? You're already building in excuses for NEXT season, Josh's 3rd in the NFL? I can assure you the league is not worried about how Josh Allen will perform in 2022. I like Josh. There is some validity to Allen/Trubisky comps. They've both got similar strengths and similar weaknesses; the distinction is that for every strength, Allen's is better. Allen has a bigger arm. Allen is more mobile. Allen is also a baller and he's too competitive to just flounder like MITCH. Whether Josh will take the step Trubisky failed to take is the real question. Is Allen a top 20ish guy or is he a franchise QB. Refining the details of the game; seeing the field better and getting the ball out in time with better placement. That's where he needs to improve and I'm sure he'll be working hard to do just that BUT 2022 is Allen's year??? Come on man.
  19. Spain is a decent pass blocker, but not at all effective at moving the LOS. I don't want him back at LG.
  20. Dumb part was jumping on a Mercedes. Hop on my 2003 Honda Civic and 1k will make the whole thing go away. Poorly executed Julian.
  21. So true. Did you watch Saffold knocking guys around? So much was made of the size of the FA acquisitions, but the majority of them are actually better in pass pro than in line blocking. Need a mauler if we're gonna run the ball effectively.
