  1. Yeah. Phillips had a huge year, but my suspicion is that teams are going to be VERY leery of the one year wonder thing. The guy had a grand total of 5.5 sacks in 5 FULL SEASONS prior to 2019. I'd love to have him back on the Bills at the right price, and I think it's possible. He may very well end up disappointed if he's expecting a monster deal. Tag and trade for a guy with his OVERALL track record? Not happening.
  2. Finally someone's making some sense around here!
  3. Exactly. And the elephant in the room is that we don't know with certainty that JA will be a guy worthy of that big contract a couple YEARS from now. We just don't. Unless they acquire enough offensive talent to properly judge the QB, we may STILL not know. So that's yet another reason to target a guy like Golliday. And as other's have said, this is a hypothetical scenario because I HIGHLY doubt the Lions move Golliday. I just have no idea why people have become so cap obsessed.
  4. Hopefully, they all need to get paid. That'll be a good problem to have. In the meantime, this is a golden opportunity to acquire assets with so many guys on rookie contracts. The good teams work around the cap with ease. The time to win is now. They've been patient and that's great, but the roster, as currently constructed, is not a SB contender. They're good, but they lack "game changers." Gotta spend money if you want to acquire these guys. If Golliday is on the block, I'm in. In the broader context, I'd prefer to see them be aggressive in FA'cy in general. Doesn't mean you doll out huge contracts left and right, but the notion of NOT acquiring an individual top flight receiver because of "cap concerns" down the line just isn't a compelling argument. Not for me anyways.
  5. You're choosing me, of all people, to defend Star? I'm wholly unprepared to do so my friend.
  6. They definitely have the cap space to add a 1T DT capable of making some plays, but I'd be shocked if they didn't just stick with Star in 2020. Don't think they would have made this move if they planned to move on. Probably more likely that they'll add a backup.
  7. Like I said. I don't really care for Star. I don't think he brings enough to the DL regardless of the contract. Harry could very well usurp him this season if they use him as a 1T. JMO. But the fact that he has no guarantees in 2021 defy the notion that he has NO incentive to play hard in 2020. He could find himself out of the league if he doesn't play well.
  8. Stevie brought a positive swag to the team and never stopped "repping" Buffalo. If you follow him on Twitter, he's a tremendous human being; he's just "different." One of my favorite players of the drought; wasn't one of the best, but definitely one of the most likable for those that don't judge dude's based on piercings and tattoos.
  9. Yeah. People complain about getting older.....you got an option, but it's not a good one.
  10. Cogs come to mind. Man could that line use a player of his caliber. WRT DGB, he's got baggage and he can't catch a cold. His NFL career is over.
  11. Not a fan of Star, but I'm good with this move. VERY important that the contract doesn't lock him in for 2021.
  12. In retrospect, this likely happened far more frequently than the inaccurate throws caused by perceived hesitation. Probably just noticed the "off throws" more vividly when he had time/an open man and seemed to wait too long to release because it's frustrating as a fan.. He's young. It happens. But he's gotta clean some things up.
  13. EVERYTHING but Josh. The guy was pretty much up on everything including FA'cy and the draft. I harped on edge rushers and he was all about a replacement for Levi. So yeah, alot of defense, but OL, WR, etc. as well. I may have subconsciously avoided the topic because it was a positive convo and didn't want to express any critique, but it's odd that he didn't bring it up. He was ALL IN on the process, so I'm fairly confident I know where he stood on JA. Entirely TMI, but yeah; it struck me as odd as I drove away that Allen never came up.
  14. You do understand we're talking about people who have been convicted of nothing, correct? I would think a pro-Trump crowd wouldn't be so quick to trust the powers that be. Based on the supposition that an arrest=guilt, then I'm sure that you MUST be opposed to ANY form of bail. Those with means also (apparently) did the crime, so they should also do the time. Can't have it both ways.
  15. Randomly talked to a fellow Bills fan named Mike while visiting Las Cruces, NM. You here bro? Guy was wearing a Bills shirt so I had to ask if it was just a shirt or if he was a Bills fan. We're everywhere! Anyways, Josh's name never came up in the 20 minute convo. Wasn't intention. Just didn't happen. I feel like it's indicative of the sentiment most rational Bills fans have; WE'RE JUST NOT SURE. What else is there to say? He's shown flashes and has dramatically raised his FLOOR since draft day. I'm not convinced he's raised his ceiling, but I'm not convinced his ceiling isn't still very high. I enjoy the convo as much as anyone, but his play is really the only thing that matters. If he can improve his read/recognition/release, sky's the limit. But that's in no way a given. As one poster stated, his mechanics tend to break down under duress and this is where he needs to improve. When he properly analyzes the field and releases on time, the accuracy issue is greatly diminished. It's generally when he's hesitant that we see the wildly inaccurate throws. I know the kid is going to work his () off, so there is reason for optimism that he can improve this with experience. I just don't KNOW yet.
  16. Hooper makes plays. Olsen catches passes (at this point in his career.) There's a distinction. So much rather they spend more for a Hooper than an Olsen, but I agree that Beane may very well not roll that way. The numbers Olsen put up are greater than I realized, so it's not like the guy can't be a contributor. Wouldn't hate it, but wouldn't love it. I probably like Knox a little more than most, so a lot of the production at TE is going to hinge on his ability to CATCH THE BALL. The guy has a ton of ability.
  17. No doubt. I think Dawkins is "strong," especially for an LT. I think Felciano is "strong." Other than that..... It's tough to know how much of this falls on Rob Johnson. I wasn't particularly impressed with HIS run game coordination, but anyone is better than Castillo. I would have to assume this is more of a personnel issue. It's not like you need to have 5 guys on the OL capable of dominating at the point of attack. But I think you gotta have at least one. Morse and Dawkins are steady, so you've got a "solid" combo at LT/C. That's important. But looking back, I tend to agree that while the line generally "held up" in pass pro, they were too often moving backwards.
  18. He's a very good pass blocker, but he's a below average run blocker. I prefer an LG that pushes the line. Maybe we can get Cogs back. I kid. But the line would be well served to have that type of player as opposed to a Spain. MAYBE Ford is the answer, but that remains to be seen.
  19. I would hate re-signing Spain to a long term deal. He's just OK. It's nice to have "good" players, but the offensive line desperately needs guys that push the LOS and LG is an ideal spot for this type of player. I'm not so sure that player is on the current roster. We harp on the RT position, but I'm just as, if not more concerned about LG. There's a reason our backs were so ineffective in short yardage situations; the line generated little to no push. I think we need to add a back, but I also think "we" need to find a way to field a 5 man unit able to push a defense BACKWARDS. There were some glaring, obvious issues with pass pro at RT, but I think we're overlooking the line's run blocking deficiencies. Frankly, the pass pro was decent overall. Run blocking, not so much.
  20. This. Not a big fan of signing or activating "mentors." If they decide to sign Olsen, it should be based on football ability and not "mentoring." Could end up with Bania if you go this route! The offense is in desperate need of PLAYMAKERS, so I'd prefer their attention be focused on acquiring TALENT. The coach's should be sufficient "mentors."
  21. Ugh. I wish. I like EO, but Josh Allen would complete our defense. Dude has some SERIOUS issues. But he said good things AND bad things. Just a weirdo.
  22. Appreciate the response. Noticed that there was an entire thread on the issue. Also re-read my recent posts and they come across as someone in "emotional" mode, so I'm gonna leave it alone for awhile and do more reading. But I will say in summation as this ties into outcomes; If outcomes dictate policy, I'm guessing taking away the scraps people get from food stamps will almost certainly increase crime and likely cost taxpayers as much, if not more, to jail petty offenders.
  23. Logic dictates that this particular miscreant is either in prison or will soon find his way there. If you think treating freedom like a pawn shop is a good idea, fair enough.
