I had a great experience with my FIOS install. The guy was right on time and was here for about 5 hours. They have to run the fiber from the pole outside into the house, install a box on your basement wall and run the line to the modem. The only service call that I have made in the 6 months or so that I've had FIOS was due to the October ice storm which broke the fiber line in front of my house. They came out and ran a new line the very next day after I called. I have previously had DSL and cable internet and neither was as reliable nor anywhere near as fast as FIOS. When I had DSL I had to reboot the modem about once a week due to connection problems. I haven't had to do that at all since I got the FIOS.

I live in Hamburg and have had FIOS for several months now. The speed has been very fast. I have the 10 mb/sec and am very happy with it. The only worry that I have is that when I signed up it was $29.95 a month. I later found out that it is actually $34.95 a month with a $5 per month credit for having a 1 year contract. Lately though the ads for Fios say $39.95 a month for the 10 mb speed which I have. I love it at $30 a month but it will suck if it goes up to $40 a month when my year is up. Fios TV is supposed to be coming soon. It all has to do with whether or not Verizon will have to negotiate franchise agreements with each municipality or if NYS gives them a statewide agreement. Knowing the way things work in NYS, it won't surprise me if they have to jump through a million hoops to get it done. I just hope that when all is said and done, Fios ends up costing less than cable for tv and internet.

Another cheap thing to try is a neti pot. They sell them at health food stores for about $15. Fill it with tap water, add a little salt, tilt your head and stick the nozzle into one nostril. It fills up your sinus cavity and runs out of your other nostril. My 14 yr old daughter does it too when she feels congested. Cheap, easy do it yourself decongestant.

The toll removal will be permanent. There is some downstate road that has been maintained with Thruway funds of about $14 million annually. The Republican party and most Republican candidates are against expanding research into stem cells, mainly due to the influence of Fundamental Christian groups. No one is sure that stem cell research will lead to cures for Parkinson's, Diabetes, Alzheimer's, etc... But do we need the research stopped due to the moral objections of the minority? If you had one of these diseases, how would you feel about politicians blocking research that shows potential for treating or curing these illnesses? If a politician has taken a stand on either side of this issue, shouldn't their opponent be able to address their opposing views?

Rush is a true POS! Michael J Fox has had a recurring role on Boston Legal for the past year and as much as they try to avoid it, his Parkinson's illness is very evident in his mannerisms. Anyone who has seen any of these episodes would notice his illness immediately. Since his character on the show does not have Parkinson's, you would think that they would try to film him in such a way as to minimize his mannerisms. Yet, it is still apparent that he can't control his movements. For Rush to accuse Fox of "acting" or not taking his meds in the commercial is totally beyond ignorant. This is a hotel-office-condo building. The British developer who wants to build it is the same guy who recently bought the Statler building and is starting an $80 million dollar makeover of that property. I use snow tires on both of my vehicles in WNY. A good set of snow tires costs about $400, which is less than my insurance deductible if I get in an accident. There is a BIG difference in traction and stopping distance with snows versus all-season tires. If you do buy snow tires, make sure to get "ice compound" tires like the Blizzaks. They cost a little more but the performance on ice is much better than regular snows.

Solomon is the same AP hack who went after Reid for his ties with Abramoff and for getting the free boxing tickets. He tried to tie Reid to the Abramoff scandal, although the facts showed that Reid never voted the way that Abramoff wanted him to. Sort of a Quid Pro Quo without the Pro Quo. Now, he tries to magnify this supposed land scandal by saying that he made $1.1 million on the sale, although his profit was $770,000. But from what I read it was a matter of a failure to disclose the transfer to the LLC. He continued to show that he owned the land after the transfer, and he recorded the full gain upon the sale. It wasn't like he was hiding his ownership stake. If he did wrong, they should investigate and punish him. The bigger issue to me is that this is the third time that Soloman and the AP have tried to sensationalize a piece of news about Reid. He may have a future with Fox News if the AP cans his ass. Let's get real: he's a Congressman so he's definitely a crook and a liar. But if this is the best they can come up with, he mustn't be all that dirty. I would think that if you investigated any Congressman long enough, you could find something more than this.

I think he gets it better than 99.9999% of our congressmen who will take any side of any issue if the money is right. A congressman can't get elected unless the constituents vote him in. But once he's in, his vote can be for sale to the largest bidder. How many pieces of legislation get passed due to the influence of the lobbyists, PACs, and the industries looking to benefit from them? Look at some of the few major proposals that passed this year. Medicare prescription drug coverage. What was the impetus for this: helping seniors cope with high drug costs or doing what Big Pharma wanted. Sorry, but we got what Big Pharma wanted, an expensive bill that keeps the government from negotiating lower drug prices while giving seniors a modest benefit and sticking taxpayers with the enormous bill. It doesn't matter if the Dems or Repub control Congress, the lobbyists will get what they want and the taxpayers will pay the bill. Our only power is vote them out.

Those in the leadership all state that they knew nothing about it until recently, which is quickly starting to look like lies. Fordham was aware of Foley's proclivities when he was Foleys's chief of staff and has been Reynold's Chief of staff. Are you suggesting that Fordham never told Reynolds what he had heard about Foley? Fordham also told Hastert's chief of staff about it a long time ago. Hastert shares a house with his chief of staff in DC and commutes with him to Chicago on weekends. Do you honestly believe that this never came up between them?? Had they handled it when they first knew about it, it wouldn't be blowing up in their faces now.

bull sh--. When they found about about his trolling years ago, why couldn't they call him in and tell him to knock it off or get some help prior to any crimes being committed. Several Republican Congressman were told of improper activity, and they properly passed it on the the leadership. The leadership should have called him in and told him to knock it off or get help or face the consequences. This is where the breakdown occurred. What appears to have happened is that the leadership was notified and did nothing other than continuing to accept his money and helping to keep him as an incumbent. To make matters worse, they let him carry on as the co-chair of the Missing and Exploited Childrens' Caucus. End result: the leadership chose not to address the problem and they are now paying the price for their inaction.

I just hope that a 15 year old doesn't come out against Foley. Then you'll have to adjust your definition to 14 and under.

I love the way every Republican is getting high and mighty by saying that they forced Foley to resign. He resigned after ABC news told him they had the goods. Foley resigned before any of the leaders even talked to him. Just another lie among many. I also love the "your slimeballs are slimier than our slimeballs" defense. That one should work real well in the upcoming election.
