  1. You don't think this highly experienced California firm will take factors like that into consideration, do you?
  2. Wow there's hope for my old Fitz jersey!!! Now where do I get that "Watkins" patch?
  3. Maybe during the first deal, but the second one was for reportedly much less. So why bother a second time? Great post - I agree completely.
  4. Starting FS? Possibly, and I hope so, but whenever Marrone is asked about him, he speaks of him first as a CB and then as a safety. Not sure why.
  5. Right. But do the demographics favor moving east or north? Forget whether the Toronto series worked or not - why do you suppose the team entered into successive deals to play in Toronto and not in the Carrier Dome? If I was making the decision for the Bills, the stadium location decision wouldn't be about making existing customers happy, as I can make them happy with wins. To me, it would be about how I can best increase market share and capture the UNTAPPED market.
  6. I'm amazed to see all the posts talking about how a given site affects the poster. I guess I should have expected as much. But this is about what's best for the Bills franchise, isn't it?
  7. Can someone explain how Batavia is in the mix as a potential new stadium site? I keep thinking this is a joke but it continues to be in the conversation, at least in media reports. I will grant that Batavia has land and good Thruway access, but what else? How does a Batavia site add to Buffalo's or Niagara Falls' critical mass for economic development purposes? How does it entice popular or corporate support from Southern Ontario and put a stake in the heart of Toronto's NFL ambitions (which in my opinion is critical to the long term survival if a Buffalo franchise)?
  8. I take exception to the OP's description of the Atlanta game. No mention of the venue - come on! Everyone knows the real reason the Bills lost was because we were playing in Canada.
  9. Swag perhaps, but a fail in the real professional world.
  10. I don't get the continued "Bills let Byrd walk" talk. It takes two to make a deal. Isn't it true that every "committed" team loses players to free agency?
  11. Your thesis is that Whaley is clairvoyant: not only does he know who the next owner will be, but he also knows exactly what that owner wants and how to satisfy him. Care to rethink that?
  12. Great move. Stevie had his moments but was simply not a clutch player, nor mentally tough. This helps with cap management, too.
  13. Indeed, why. The OP poses a great question and I think the public is entitled to a detailed answer. To the extent that a new stadium would be financed by the new owner, that cost/debt will be passed on to the ticket buying public in the form of PSLs or higher ticket prices. On the other hand, if the new stadium is publicly financed, then it comes at a direct cost to the taxpayers. Either way, the public should be provided a clear understanding of why this cost is necessary. To his credit, Mr. Wilson keenly understood the economics of the WNY market and realized that a new stadium was not worthwhile. At a certain point, depending on how it's designed and financed, a new stadium could drive ticket and premium seat prices above what the WNY market can bear, and if that happens the new stadium could actually become a financial drag on the franchise. As a season ticket holder, I'd want to know what the impact of a new stadium would be on my ticket prices BEFORE ground is broken. I may seem like I'm contradicting myself but I am NOT in favor of Patrick Gallivan's bill that would make the stadium committee's deliberations public, as I fear this would dramatically slow the process and possibly grind the momentum to a halt. I have no problem with them making the sausage in private, as long as taxpayers have been provided a clear and detailed explanation of how a new stadium better supports a WNY franchise.
  14. Thrilled with the move. High impact weapon. Get me a right tackle in round 2 and I'm satisfied.
  15. I hear he's a "me" guy, a la Terrell Owens.
  16. OK, done deal. New stadium or bust. I would have preferred a RWS renovation, but I think Niagara Falls will ultimately be the pick in an effort to lock in corporate support from Southern Ontario.
  17. IMO Jeremy White is an offender in every sense of the word. He spouts opinions to callers and to Howard Simon as if they are indisputable facts, and a good 50% of the time he's dead wrong. You will never hear him preface a thought by saying, "in my opinion". What he says, just IS. I'd take Sal Cappaccio over White any day of the week.
  18. You knew there was a four-member panel that decides who the winning bid is? I guess I'm out of the loop.
  19. Good call! A good assist to the Bills unshared revenue pool! Enjoy the pregame on-field experience - it's awesome! I'll be on the field for the opener and can't wait.
  20. They are in the same place that the rest of WNY's population (who don't hold season tickets or otherwise support the team) is. Sitting on their hands waiting to complain when the team leaves.
  21. The news could mean that Evans could drop to us. It's very relevant to us.
  22. The Bills are funding 25% of the cost of the renovations, or around $30 million. That's not nothing.
