I still think the issue is the DT's. We had a top 5 defense 2 years ago with Hughes and Murphy and the same back 7 as we had last year. Only difference being Star and Phillips. Oliver is as good as Phillip's (in my opinion) and AJ will be as good if not better than Murphy. So really the biggest change and was missing was Star. And of course Milano missing a few games. Again, I'm all for getting an edge rusher, but push from the middle and stopping the run would be my priority. Draft a CB and DE early but give me Shelvin, McNeill in the middle of draft or even Danny Shelton in FA. Don't spend a bunch of money on the FA's that are still available.. Need a big guy in the middle of the line. Hopefully Star is ready, but I don't want to have that as a missing piece again.

I think AJ is better than Murphy was.. Heck I think Addison is better than Murphy. I haven't really seen any big drop off in Hughes. I was listening to a show the other day (not sure which one...) but they were talking about the RB and it made sense to me. They were saying you never sign a RB to a second contract unless he is a top 5 or a generational talent. You use him for his rookie contract (3-5 yrs) tag him for a year (or 2) and then replace him. It's not a wise place to spend 8+ million for a second contract with such a short shelf life of the position.. Just made sense to me. Is Carson a top 5 or generational talent I guess would be my 1st question..

Mckensie, Boroquez, Wallace and Barkley from our own FA's. This would also be my list in order. If Beane can work it out and keep Feliciano and Roberts, I am good with it.. But I also wouldn't be heartbroken if he couldn't.

I was just using a round number, but 2.9 would be tied for 5th last I looked. But, 2.75 would be a good number in my opinion and would probably seal the deal. 2.5 would be my real thought, but may not get it done. in the scheme of things, why hagle over 250k.. obviously all depends on the actual details..🤔

What about Rhamondre Stevenson from Oklahoma if we trade back and pick up a late 3 or 4th? 6' 245 with 4.5xx 40? Don't watch college ball, but he keeps coming up in my Mock's... Anyone know more about him?

I think this allows more playing time for AJ and get him ready to fully take over next year. Kind of a backup plan for this year without spending a lot on a FA. Plus allows them to bring in a rookie and add to the rotation for a year. Doesn't it take a year or two for a DE? Well at least for someone where we have been picking in the draft for the last few years. It's not like we had a chance at the "generational" talent ones... I do think if they didn't re-sign Milano they would have gone after one of the FA's this year though and cut Addison..

In a normal year I might agree, but.... Mckensie fills multiple rolls and knows the offense. Barkley as well (not that Josh needs him, but 1 more year wouldn't hurt). Wallace knows the defense and I don't think he is as bad as some think plus would give you someone there while a rookie gets up to speed in the NFL. Boroquez is the one I go back and forth on, but if we can keep him, why risk it?? Gonna be a hard year to truly evaluate draft prospects and haven't really looked at FA's that would be better than our own at a cheaper price.. Rather have the experience in our system than saving a mill or two. But again, that's why I am not the GM... If he would take that deal, I am all for it. But from the little I have read, that may be quite the hometown discount.. But after the last few days I wouldn't doubt Beane's magic..😁

Not broke, but getting close to pulling out the credit card. Still think they need to bring back Mckensie, Wallace (4-6m) and make a decision with Barkley (say 2m). Also Boroquez (say 3m). Then 3-5m for the draft. Have to keep something in the back pocket in case something happens in season. So, couple of our own, then draft the rest. Just my thoughts, But that's why I am here and not a GM..
