  1. What makes everyone think that you need to move up and take a QB? Since 2013, the best QB in the draft was not taken first. In most cases, the team didn't move up to get him (although Philly did move up to take Carson Wentz, still to this point the best total numbers for his draft year arguably belong to a 4th round pick). Most often the best QB was taken down the line. Carr, Prescott, Watson, even Geno Smith was the best guy in his draft and he was taken in the 2nd round. In a year where the consensus seems to be "they all have warts", it seems the reasonable thing to do would be to position yourself properly and let things play out. Just sayin'.
  2. Actually, not so sure about that. The only connection is Alabama. McCown works with a variant of the Erhardt-Perkins offense under Chan Gailey; this is the same offensive scheme used by the NE Patriots and of course what Daboll I would this think is most comfortable with. On the other hand the coaching tree of Cincinnati is largely based on a West Coast variant. I'm not saying that McCarron can't learn a different offense. He's a smart guy by all accounts. But on the face of it, McCown should be the guy. I don't know that NY lets him get out of town, but that's my take.
  3. Everyone, everywhere at the least starts off with JJ's chart. You can do a variant of it (and that's why I included next years pick) to inflate and cover. But what you are suggesting is idiocy. Bye
  4. Because you have $40MM in cap space, and why not put a little bit of it to work and don't put that kind of pressure on a kid. Could be a reason. Bring the veteran in and let your guy beat him out.
  5. I would think he's the Jets #1 choice here, regardless of interest in Bridgewater; McCown + 5th rounder pick.
  6. I don't think we have a choice do we? You can't take the chance on Bridgewater being 100%.
  7. Me too. I think we'd have to sweeten it the offer just the least little bit. Can you not do the math? #12 1200 points #56 340 points #65 265 points = 1805 points. Is this your first time doing math?
  8. Maybe if you play WR ... I can't think of a good Wideout that signed a deal where a QB was already in place (yes, including Mahomes).
  9. It has nothing at all to do with the position. It's about hitting on draft picks, altogether and the surplus value they represent. Two unhealthy WRs got $15MM AAV today. Five backup QBs will get $14-18MM. A one year wonder at OT will get obscene money; he was a 6th round pick I believe. The more picks you have, and the more picks higher you have, the more likely it is that you will produce surplus value. It's just a matter of odds. Thus, if you are trading draft picks you better be damned sure of what you are getting. As caps increase, basic economics tells us the value of a draft pick goes up. It's why the best single drafting engine in the last 20 years has been the New England Patriots. It has nothing at all to do with Tom Brady; it has everything to do with the fact that they've never moved up except to get Richard Seymour and in that case, they were brilliant.
  10. 12 56 65 if necessary, something in 2019 gets you all the way to #4 and keeps the other 1st rounder and a pick in every round.
  11. I slept with your sister; I'd trade her for a 7th rounder. In 2021.
  12. (Bradford's body + our Offensive Line)^Bradford's mobility = tragedy
  13. No way Quinton falls that far. Personally I'm not that high on the guy, but he'll be drafted in top 9 easy.
  14. Situation in NYC just got a TON worse. They lost Richeborg and didn't get Norwell. I would guess they would want to sit pat at #2 and draft can't miss (LMAO) Nelson at 2.
  15. I'm betting that Star upgrades himself in getting to join his buddies too. Ultimately this deal will cover his years from 29-31 and I'm guessing at $30-35MM guarenteed. In today's world that's not bad. Just wait and see what Solder gets.
  16. Because you believe scouting agencies, right? Presumably Bradley Chubb is the 4th best player; I mean, that's consensus. Either a running back or a guard is the consensus best player in the draft. That's what the agencies say, right? I'm not sure that any one of those three players will be the most productive players at their positions (interior line, rb, rush). Sam Darnold is almost universally the first pick in the mock drafts. If you use mock drafts and projections, that's just great. LMAO.
  17. Keep getting your opinions from The Bleacher Report or Draftanalysis or whatever. Rudolph is easily within the top three QBs; possibly the second best. Easily. And a little hint: Josh Allen and Lamar don't even belong in a discussion for the first round. Watch and wait and see what happens to a QB that already has a concussion protocol or a guy that can't hold on to the football. Hell, I'm hoping the Jets get Rosen.
  18. Personally I think Rudolph is the best QB for the NFL. His capacity to make decisions is the best in the draft. Best size, great on short to intermediate, called out line, audibled, worked with the most difficult offense. But that's for another time. I'm happy today and I'll be happy no matter who they pick.
  19. 40,000,000 buys the best LT and best G if that's what you want. AND Bradford/Keenum/etc.
  20. Mike Iupati possible cut candidate by Arizona ... another OLineman for Buffalo and those dollars.
  21. Rudolph or Mayfield. Never forget that this team is committed to seniors. Last year they actually moved around until they could get the seniors they wanted. It's not Rosen, it's not Darnold.
