  1. Here is what a lot of people miss. Football is a team sport more than any other sport. Generally speaking, outside of QB, you can lose players and adjust to not have a significant impact. You change out a player and the entire unit can make up for that loss. However, sometimes there are things that are less noticeable to the average fans. Hence comments like how are we ever gonna replace Edmunds 5 tackles or 1 sack, etc. The bigger impact is whoever replaces Edmunds will have a different skillset that impacts the players around him. Edmunds size and speed allowed the Bills to utilize DB's in different ways when Edmunds is on the field. You could use the front in different ways because of Edmunds. Replacing him with a more traditional MLB will changes things and the hope is that there will not be a big impact. Long story short its not just what the player does, but what the player allows the entire defense to do.
  2. This thread should be deleted immediately. If the bills don’t make the playoffs we all know who to blame.
  3. Josh is never gonna be the typical qb. Some people think that is what you have to be to win for the long haul. He still relies on the off script play. He still will miss an easy pass. He will make the wrong read. But he will make up for it when he does something amazing a play later. It is fair to ask what will happen in 5 years or more when the ability is not there? Will he be as good a qb without that attribute. Time will tell. I still take him as my qb.
  4. A ton of people have said he was a liability on the field which is just wrong. He is a top tier lb. Always a tough call when deciding who to pay. They would have signed him to a Milano like contract but he was too pricey. Just like we thought Milano would be but luckily the market was softer for Milano.
  5. Tremaine played as close to 100% of the snaps as a player can play. It is so odd how people continue to talk like he was a liability on the field. The Bears and other NFL teams only see his size. The bills played him from day 1 and kept him on the field and never looked to replace or even support him. Yes he sucks and only has size. This stuff makes no sense. If Josh walked rather than resigning is this what the narrative would be? People just love his arm and size and speed but he was terrible.
  6. Do people understand Edmunds role in this defense? A lot of critics that he did not blow up the line, make tackles behind the line, etc. That was not his job. He was not used like some middle LB that don’t have two gap responsibility or have such a big role in the passing game. That is why he rarely blitzed or was rarely chasing guys behind the line of scrimmage.
  7. Disagree. That’s like saying we have exact same roster as last year. So Allen gets hurt last season but is healthy this season we are saying the front office upgraded the roster? It’s about how are we entering this season vs last season. We lost a clear star player in edmunds and have added a handful of depth players. That is the reality. The argument could be we didn’t need to upgrade we just need guys to be healthy. But that is different than we upgraded.
  8. Leonard Floyd is good. Versus Spencer Brown he is elite. Spencer Brown is playing awfully bad right now and it is not surprising. He was arguably the worse starter on both sides of the ball last year.
  9. I am not convinced they are either. Especially if it is framed as looking how we entered last year vs this year. Coming off the Davis playoff game I think everyone thought WR1 and WR2 were stacked and we just needed some help in the slot. Crowder had multiple years of production in a Josh Allen-less offense so that seemed to be a huge upgrade over Beasley. Add in McK and the wrinkles we expected. Shakir was the steal of the draft. Even mentions of Hodgins. This year we have added: Harty and his 2 rec's last year. The year before was a career high of 36. 4 years in the league and never a 100yd game. But we expect him to be a huge threat all the sudden. Would be great but most likely he puts up Mck numbers. Sherfield who is on his 4th team. Has exceeded expectations when needed but he should be a teams 5th/6th WR not someone you bank on to contribute. Again we are banking on a guy to become something he has not been after 4 years in the league. Kincaid I will include him in this conversation as he could be the most impactful. But it also bucks history as TE's usually take some time to develop. Fingers crossed. It will be great if it all works out. My hope is the scheme is adjusted to help more than I expect an upgrade in the WR position.
  10. Every Bills defender is begging to get some reps vs Spencer Brown. They know its how you win a roster spot.
  11. I dont recall many people calling to replace Edmunds. Many wanted to add to the LB room. But I would not say there was a ton of get rid of Edmunds talk. He has been discussed of not living up to the expectations or not being worth a big contract. That is different than he should not be on the field.
  12. I agree with some of the depth comments. You can argue our depth has improved. But the talent needed to win in the playoffs? Last year who were the top 5 Bills players: Allen, Diggs, Edmunds, Miller, Milano? Honorable mentions for guys like White, Poyer, Hyde, Singletary, Oliver, Dawkins. Who is it this year? Allen, Diggs, Miller, Milano, Hyde? Honorable mentions for guys like White, Poyer, Oliver, Dawkins, Cook. What free agent or draft pick would crack the list?
  13. That is a very naïve mindset. It is one thing to say you would not may him $20M per, but to pretend that he is no different than a guy like Dodson, Spector, etc makes no sense. Edmunds is being paid like a top LB in the league because he is one. If he was not getting paid like he is there is no doubt he would be the starting MLB for the Bills.
  14. The debatable: WR - A lot of hope in Harty and Sherfield. If we flipped the script and last year had Harty/Sherfield and replaced with McK/Crowder/Brown we would believe that was an upgrade. I think folks are stuck on the we cant get worse mindset or "obviously" last years guys sucked. RB - Similar to WR. People saw enough of Singletary. But he could be better than any RB we have on the roster. I am hopeful as a group this position is better, OL - Repeat as stated above. The new is obviously better than the old. However, Saffold was an ex-pro bowler with high hopes. S Brown was expected to be an all pro. A year later we have a rookie that hopefully can contribute right away and a bunch of similar guys as we have seen in the past. Biggest concern is RT as if Brown cant protect the edge we are no using RB's and TE's to help which limits the offense even more. Worse: LB - Edmunds is a big loss at a position that was already not deep. Outside of Milano we have a bunch of JAG's to nobody's. Better: DL - Floyd and Ford are good additions DB - Rapp is better depth at S TE - Kincaid is upgrade assuming he is on the field which seems like he will be No change QB - Back up Keenum vs Back up Allen K - No changes
  15. Last year folks thought we were set with Diggs, Davis, Crowder. We heard how Shakir was going to surprise people and win a starting job. We heard about McK finally getting a shot. Knox was going to step up. Cook was going to be a receiving threat. I don’t know if I would call Sherfield, Harty, and Kincaid an upgrade over those expectations. It is very similar thinking. Actually more wishful though because Crowder has the most production of these players expected to produce. You can can’t just say this year is better because you know now that last year didn’t work. Last year at this same time people were more confident Davis a #2, Crowder was an upgrade at slot, etc etc.
  16. What does overrated mean when the people that work in the business say he is the 3rd best?
  17. TBD Message Board Posters- Jalen Ramsey is trash NFL Coaches, Players, Scouts and Exec's - Jalen Ramsey is the 3rd best CB in the league
  18. Morse vs. Tippman or McGovern Bates/McGovern vs. Tomlinson/Vera-Tucker Dawkins/Brown vs. Brown/Becton Jets line could be better than ours. QB play impacts how an OL looks and tell me the last time the Jets has a real QB? They have potential in a bunch of early draft picks (4 starters are 1st round picks).
  19. NYJ - Rodgers, Cook, Hall, Wilson, Lazard, Hardman, Davis, Conklin, Uzomah MIA - Tua, Mostert, Wilson, Hill, Waddle, Berrios, Chosen One, Smythe, Saubert BUF - Allen, Cook, Harris, Diggs, Davis, Harty, Sherfield, Knox, Kincaid
  20. Win in NY and he will have $100m’s in endorsements and other deals now and after he retires. That money will be much more than what he is giving up in this $35m.
  21. The Jets and Fins will both be better. Jets are currently favored in 11 games Fins are currently favored in 11 games Bills are currently favored in 13 games Makes sense to me. I could Fins and Jets winning between 9-13 games. Bills should be between 10-14.
  22. Beane wizadry at work. Signed Allen to a deal that only he knew would be passed by others in the following years. Pure genius at work. Just wait for the Trevor Lawrence deal.
