This hit was not legal. It was in a players back, when he was defenseless. It is a protected position. It was not part of the play. Showed intent to injure imo. Exactly. Barkley goes out band it is game over as we dont have a QB left.

Why is there not more discussion on the Van Noy hit on Barkley? This is with Allen out and knowing Bills dont have another QB. This bothers me more than the Allen hit in that it looks like a direct attempt to injure him. He should have been tossed from the game in my opinion as it is just dirty and on a defenseless player.

A couple points: 1. So he played worse than Big Ben and about the same as Ryan/Fitz, Josh Rosen and Luke Falk. That is the expectation? 2. Eye Test Counts for something - There were some terrible decisions. 3. The first three games count too and those were not good enough. I can buy this if he was lights out vs other teams and had a tough day vs NE. I feel like threads like this are trying to say "there is nothing to see here, he is awesome and supposed to struggle vs NE". We are setting the bar way too low and making justifications for bad play. I am not saying you give up on Josh Allen but just being real that he has a long way to go. Hopefully the coaches and people around him are able to do their job and help him develop. He is still a big project.

I would feel happier for sure. But logically feel the same: 1. This D is really good. 2. Josh Allen has a long way to go. 3. Daboll worries me. His play calling does not seem to outsmart anyone or play to his teams strengths.

This is drastically underestimating the mistakes that put the Bills out of field goal range. Those were huge and key in losing the game. Bills had it at NWE 35 and Allen took bad sack putting them out of range Bills had it at NWE 25 and Allen took bad sack, pushing FG to a 49 yarder which was missed Bills had 1st downs around mid field on two of his int's That is a lot of points left on table

When did Jim Kelly play? This is a different NFL my friend. In today's NFL 250 yds and you are the bottom third of the league. Back in Kelly's day 250 was close to leading the league or at least top 5. So yes, I want better than bottom third and dont care about how someone compares to 30 year old stats that have drastically changed.

It does not seem like many of the people on here have played the game. He was stopped and Jones had no business being involved what? If Hyde or Poyer on that play did not become involved I want them off the field. The QB is running like a RB trying to get the first down and running over the defender your job is to stop him. This hit is 100% on the style of play involved. Josh is thinking "they are jot stopping me", lowers and initiates contact to run the guys over and almost does. If Allen gets lower and not so upright maybe he gets more forward push. But since he is still a bit upright his progress is stopped. Watch the video and switch the helmets and you are liking what your Bills defense does there.

FYI - Last year Hyde was complaining the opposite. How is a DB supposed to stop.

Can everyone agree that Allen had a bad bay? Some people seem to argue that he did not or that it was other peoples fault. Yes, you expect a young QB to struggle vs BB; but he had an atrocious game. No defending it nor is defending it needed. The hope is we have a QB that can go toe to toe with BB.

I dont know. That play was very fast and not much time to think. There are plays when a guy has 5 yards or more to decide what to do etc. This was right there trying to stop a first down. And we can say he should have know to go lower but I dont know - that is how defenders wind up with neck injuries. He is dropping his shoulder as Josh is also both dropping his and being tackled by the other defender. I just dont see anything intentional. I would feel 100% the same if this was the Bills player making the hit.

I have seen a few people say "in the process of going down" or "wrapped up". That was a bang bang play. It all happened fast, not the sort when a guy is being held up or pushing a pile. He was running full speed and hit by one guy and then another within a second or two. Josh has proven to be a guy that can take two guys to bring him down. He needs to slide before the first contact on that play and then he is not getting hit. And to add - second guy doesnt hit him I bet he gets another yard or two for the first. I would be pissed if the Bills player even got the call against them but rules are rules, though until recently that is not even a penalty. Its hard to play football these days though on plays like that were you have to be carefull about how you hit a 250lb QB running full speed. You let up and you are the one getting hurt.

Yep. Play sucked - hard to make the call though. Kind of looked like he tried to avoid and defensive guy stumbled. If He had crashed into him maybe they call it. Regardless, unfair play and wish the Bills had tried similar vs what seemed to be basic one on one routes trying to beat man coverage.

Other than the Bills I have not seen anyone thinking he should have been ejected. Honestly, if that was a Bills player making that hit I would not think they should get ejected. I have seen way way worse hits on players than that. I think pre-concussion protocol he is playing within a few snaps. The problem with running QB's is the refs do start to treat them as RB's and I get it in some ways. On one play they run over a defensive guy and on the next should be protected. It does get confusing and unfair for a defensive player.

So you are happy with this level of QB play? Even coach McD has concerns and says he needs to be better. I can bet there will be QB coaches fired and maybe OC fired if Allen does not show a ton more progress. It is not good enough...

Yep - better QB play and those games are not even close so no comeback required. Those should and could have been blow out wins.

Who cares - I was responding to someone trying to say that Tyrod played worse than Allen. I take Allen long term over Tyrod no question. But lets keep it real, Allen has looked very shaky at times and was downright awful yesterday. Allen has much higher upside but is not a better QB consistently than Tyrod yet. Take away the turnovers, given the Bills field position yesterday I bet they get at least 2-3 more field goals yesterday and win that game with a "Tyrod" at QB.

Sorry - we would be 4-0 with Tyrod as QB. That does not mean he is the answer. Just that 3-1 is more on the Bills D than Josh Allen.

It is OK to be worried about Josh Allen. Saying you are concerned does not mean you are a hater. It does not mean you are clueless. It does not mean you think he needs to play lights out every single game. Reality check - He has been inconsistent through the majority of his starts. His latest was maybe his worst ever. Ironically his 2nd worst was a year ago today vs GNB. He has shown flashes of being very good and very bad - which is normal for a young QB especially one from Wyoming. However, I would say his legs have helped him out a ton thus far in his career which the NFL has proven is unsustainable. Allen has never had a game he dominated via throwing the ball. Not a single game completing 70% of his passes, not a single 300 yd game, no QBR >120 games. And I wont waste time comparing to a Brady, Brees, Rodgers, etc. Look even at guys like Lamar Jackson who is doing what we want Allen to do. I dont expect it every game....but you have to want more than what your getting. The 4th quarter comebacks are nice but that does not remove the need for solid QB play. Those arund for the Flutie days can tell you that.

Allen - 18 Ints and 13 fumbles in 16 games Taylor - 20 ints and 20 fumbles in 66 games Allen highest QBR is 114.9 (over 100 3 times); Above 90 only 3 times. Taylor highest QBR is 146.5 and over 114.9 seven times (over 100 19 times); Above 90 33 times. Allen Record - 8-8 Taylor Record - 37-28-1 We may think Allen has more upside. But reality is he has not outperformed Taylor yet. Josh has a long way to go if he wants to succeed in this league. If what he has shown this year is who he is I dont think he gets more than this season and next.

He is looking a bit like Colin K once the league figured him out. Problem is Allen is only in year 2...hopefully he can learn to be a better decision maker and rely less on being an athlete.

And Barkley has been cut how many times? And losing his job to Peterman is on the coach not Tyrod, that was a horrible decision. Tyrod had the opportunity to start because he is better than most of those guys on the list hence #3.
