It is an interesting point and I think it had more to do with our defensive line just being terrible that day. Head and shoulders above, IMO, is not quite true. But let's compare for fun: Brown Jr.-Volson-Karras-Cappa-Williams to Dawkins-McGovern-Morse-Bates-Brown Brown Jr.>Dawkins but I think it is very close to a wash. I think Dion does a really good job, but Brown's length and stature just make him incredibly difficult to rush on. I am interested to see if playing with Burrow vs Mahomes will hurt Brown. Mahomes throws out of a ton of sacks and saves his guys. Brown is 2 years younger. McGovern>Volson...but it's close. In his limited time, McGovern has been better than Volson to my eye test. Volson is very interesting with the upside, but McGovern has a better pedigree and the same type of upside. McGovern has 4 years in the league and is just a few months older than Volson. Morse>Karras...I will take Morse over Karras all day every day. He's the better athlete, the better pure center. The only knock on him is the concussion stuff. Morse has been a high-level center for years as Karras was a journeyman. Morse is a month younger as well. Karras has become a serviceable player, but he isn't Morse imo. Cappa>Bates...I love Bates' upside but Karras has beenmuch better and has a super bowl title. What Cappa has become coming out of Humboldt State is just super impressive. Bates is two years younger. Williams>Brown...but it's closer than most think. Jonah Williams is just not a tackle. He is a guard or a center and I think a move inside will do wonders for his career. I think he could be one of the top centers in the league. He is still only 25 years old. A change of scenery and a move to center will do wonders for him. Additionally, he is just 25 years old, a couple of months older than Spencer Brown. Brown has struggled as Williams has, and both have really struggled with injuries, but Brown is at the very least a high-upside tackle. Williams is an IOL and the quicker he realizes that the better his career will be. I still give the edge to Williams here, but it is close. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I like Jackson Carman better than Jonah Williams at RT so I think he should be their starter and they should trade Williams. Ideally, you move Jonah to LG and put Carman and RT and then the Bengals really win the 1 on 1 comparison. So I also give the Bengals the win in depth. I like the upside of Tommy Doyle and Ryan Van Denmark, and Ike Boettger is solid depth, but they are really the only depth we have right now. So yes they are better, but I think it is closer than most people think.

Devin Bush is the linebacker yo replace edmunds

Apparently he’s signing in Seattle. I don’t think this takes them out of the Wagner chase, but it’s a nudge I guess -
That is always telling to me. When we release a guy some fans truly value and fall in love with and it’s crickets on the open market. That’s the cold hard truth right there.
-
How much interest he garners when released will finally give us all the answer we seek. I never liked his game, but he was a factor at times. Expiration date is here.
-
Yeah I think people on this board value him more than people in the league. I truly doubt we add him. JMO

My stance is that they could have extended or re-signed him. They chose not to. To me, they didn’t value him at that number the Bears gave him. Doesn’t mean he sucks. Is it a miss because you did not re-sign him? No, because you get pretty cheap production for 4 years and a reasonable 5th year option. To me, you have to be careful which positions you choose in the 1st round of the draft. Fifth year option for OL is 13 million or something. Really want to pay a guard 13 million or a RT 13 milion? LB round one is also very tricky. The bottom line is that the Bills did not get the player they thought they were getting. He was very good, but not the impact they thought they would get. If he were the second coming of Urlacher or Keuchly, they would have extended him. They were shooting for the moon and fell short. I don’t fault the thought process, but they forced that draft pick and didn’t need to.

Bernard vs Dodson: Tale of the Tape
MrEpsYtown replied to TheyCallMeAndy's topic in The Stadium Wall
He brought up Dodson, Bernard and Spector. Its all lip service stuff. I don’t believe him for a second. I think there is a chance they will still add Wagner or Tranquill, or someone who gets released. I love Jack Campbell, my gut tells me they love Trenton Simpson, and Sanders is the second coming of Tremaine. So we shall see where it goes. It’s still early, but I think they draft a guy -

Beane actually adressed that and said they will not move Milano. Those other guys will compete for the mike spot but they will continue to look to add. Translation imo, they are drafting our new mike -
Beane still looking to add big bodied RB to roster
MrEpsYtown replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Latavius Murray? Huge, runs hard, still has speed. 33 years old, but had a great revival year in Denver. He was essentially all they had. Used to being in a job share with guys like Kamara and Dalvin Cook. From all accounts he’s an awesome guy and teammate. -
So who is left who weighs more than 200 lbs?
-
Well that sucks

Yeah I’m totally drafting him if he’s there. First round is all about upside imo. Not plugging holes or drafting depth linemen. -

I don’t think him or Simpson get there. -

I really just want OBJ. He is the only guy in UFA that gives the team what we need in terms of a real impact receiver who will pull coverage. I could be talked into Chark or Hardman just because of their speed, but they don't impact the game the way OBJ does. I like Justin Watson or Mack Hollins as WR5 Kumerow replacements who are really good on special teams but can actually contribute on offense. In terms of OL, I would still be in on Seumalo which would push Bates to the bench. I would still check in on David Edwards. Graham Glasgow, Evan Brown, or Michael Deiter could be versatile cheap depth adds. In terms of RT competition, you could sell me on a vet like Billy Turner, Germaine Ifedi, or George Fant or a young guy with some prospect shine left in Isaiah Wynn or Greg Little. Outside of Seumalo, I don't see huge upgrades, just raise-the-floor type guys.

Does this mean they aren't bringing back Richie James? He's a somewhat interesting guy.

That I don't get, but I assume Kromer knows more than me. IDK He was super awkward. But it's fine. he's a guard.
