  1. Pretty much the only good thing to come out of the Rex Ryan regime. Maybe Shady too.
  2. He has to let Tredavious smash him in the back of his neck. We can sign Preston Brown to a 1 day contract so he can stand there and do nothing. Then Gronk can join the team.
  3. I think it's a fair concern, but I will say that he was working with a lot of young players in 2015. Shaq Mason and Tre Jackson were rookies. Cam Fleming was young. David Andrews was a rookie I believe and he was awful. And Nate Solder got hurt early. I think it's a blip on his career, but it would not concern me going forward. He seems to be what the line here need and he's likely to be in lock step with Daboll. He is not a Vlad Ducasse guy either. When he was with the Jets there was some internal conflict because the higher ups were making him play Ducasse over Slauson.
  4. I like the idea of a young guy with some fresh ideas, who was a special teams captain in his career and won a super bowl with some dynamic special teams. I like this. He also played for Leslie Frazier when he was the DC in Minnesota. So this is more of a Frazier connection than it is a Panthers connection.
  5. Dave DeGugielmo is old school and abrasive. He is the anti Castillo and he is exactly what this line needs. He wouldn't stand for a guy like Dawkins getting comfortable. But the guys who play for him love him as he gives them a bit of rough edge. Cool article: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2018/09/21/how-dave-deguglielmo-has-brought-indianapolis-colts-offensive-line-together/1370061002/ Now I don't know if he brings Glowinski, but his guy is Matt Slauson. He's been his guy for a while and would fit nicely between Mitch Morse and Dawkins. I like him because he is the complete opposite of Castillo. He also has some insight into how the Colts gashed our defense in embarrassing fashion. I really want a return to a power running game.
  6. We should be all over this one I think.
  7. Future intercontinental champion I'm guessing. His promos will be cringe worthy. Chris Masters esque. Aaron Hernandez was not available.
  8. It's because they didn't have a quarterback. Quarterback, scheme, defense in that order. Everyone else are role players, running backs, linemen, receivers.
  9. I gotta say I am kind of with Mr. Weo. And I think I get what he's saying. Having dominate top ten linemen but a lack of overall talent, like Tennessee with Conklin and Lewan, is like putting lipstick on a pig. It's cool that they are good and PFF likes them, it doesn't mean anything because the team doesn't win. It's kind of the same argument as the Joe Thomas situation. Like it or not, linemen are role players. They can put a team over the top, but they aren't superstars by any means. And I am a big line guy. I was a college lineman and I've been coaching high school linemen for 12 years. There is one top ten lineman left in the playoffs, and its Eric Fisher, and he's okay. Largely considered a bust. The Patriots should sign James Harrison for one game so he can dominate Fisher again. It's about the quarterback, the system, and the defense.
  10. I guess it was reported Browns, Minnesota, and us. Browns filled OC and OL coach and Minnesota is going the Kubiak way, so I think we are the ones left at the moment. I guess it depends on what teams like the Jets and Bengals do.
  11. I think the most impressive part of the article is that it seems he transformed Iowa into Offensive Line U. It all started with him, which is pretty cool.
  12. There is no real connection here, however Philbin falls in the Mike Sherman tree, Sherman worked very closely with Andy Reid way back when. Just coaching tree connections. I'd be okay with Philbin. All I know is that he is a well respected coach. I didn't love his demeanor on those hard knocks shows though. I still prefer Ray Brown.
  13. Thanks! Brown can bring RT Daryl Williams with him. He was huge for his development during their time in Carolina. Norwell can't really be moved until 2020. Mitch Morse is the best center on the market imo. He plays for KC and is just a really solid, smart player. He's still young as well.
  14. Yep im interested to see if it was Marrone who was the problem. And I'm assuming he was.
  15. So there is Pat Flaherty who has been around forever. He's 62 and coached those Giants Super Bowl teams. It's hard to judge his work in Jacksonville becuase you know Marrone is controlling things. Now I've sat in clinics with him and he knows what he's doing, but not sure he's the best fit. I asked him some questions about technique and things that he really wasn't able to answer. He gave me wordy walk around answers. I'm not sure he is the best teacher. He's better with veteran players imo. So if we get some in free agency, all good. I would think that Ray Brown would be he guy with all of his playing knowledge and such. He turned Andrew Norwell and Daryl Williams into all pro players. He has a working relationship with our braintrust and is well respected by players becuase he's done it at a pretty high level. Somebody on here suggested Corey Matthaei, who is the assistant o line coach in KC and I think it's an interesting idea. Hopefully he could bring Mitch Morse with him. It could just be a guy who is still in the playoffs.
  16. Agreed. I think Hilton really struggled with the conditions. I know it's an even playing field and all, but he is a quick out of his breaks kind of guy, and I think the field conditions really hurt him. He's also had an ankle injury all year. But yeah across the board they were bead. Even Quentin Nelson was missing blocks. Glowinski looked terrible.
  17. Way too conservative. They gotta be aggressive, let the dogs loose.
  18. I guess he won't be our new WR coach?
  19. I think late first, second and third rounds is where you get your value picking up offensive lineman. The majority of the good ones fall in that range. And I am okay with trading down or using 2nd, 3rd round picks. I am completely against using a top ten pick, unless they are a generational talent like Quentin Nelson.
  20. I'm not sure what you mean, but this was a conversation about the offensive lines of the winning teams.
  21. Also the Cowboys are the team with all of those highly touted and drafted players (though Frederick is out) and they got their asses handed to them.
  22. I agree with this. Also, having a me first offensive player really hurts the development of your young quarterback. If he feels the pressure to feed a guy the ball, he can't really execute the offense properly. They will add complimentary pieces. Allen is the man now.
  23. You just need to find the right guys. Some of those guys are journeymen, second round picks, 7th rounders etc. the lone top ten player is Eric Fisher and he's probably the worst of the bunch. Also the Chiefs have a good amount of functional depth and overcame a few injuries this year. Find the right guys to gel for you. You don't have to use premium assets like top ten picks. And find functional depth. That has to be mission numero uno this off season.
