  1. Kugler is not a Kubiak guy per se. I'm guessing Kubiak brings back Rick Dennison or Frank Pollack and Kugler is let go.
  2. Came here to write this exact same thing.
  3. The offense is dying for complimentary players, not big time #1 receivers. I want a guy who is smart, is going to be in the right place, and will go up and get it when it is thrown to him. Chris Conley is his name. Free agent from KC. 6-3, 215 and a 4.35 forty. He holds the combine record for a 45 inch vertical. He's a super smart guy with an awesome personality. He's been kind of buried on the depth chart, but does have 5 touchdown catches this year (catches and TDs would tie him for second on our team). He does have a good amount of experience, he just falls low in the pecking order of guys to target. He's 26 years old and has a good relationship with David Culley who had a big part in his development in KC. Conley is the exact type of guy we should be adding to our corps. He's not a look at me guy, he has size and speed, good strong hands, and is a very intelligent football player. Perfect fit for the guys we have now and our quarterback. Here's a great article from Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/darrenheitner/2015/03/04/georgia-wr-chris-conley-is-the-most-intriguing-player-in-the-2015-nfl-draft/#1a8780632171 The guy oozes process and has a ton of athletic upside.
  4. I think LaFluer. He is stepping into a really great situation with a quarterback like Rodgers.
  5. As long as he gets an experienced defensive coordinator, I think he will be fine.
  6. I think the problem with targeting certain positions is that you are drafting for need. Was Josh Allen the BPA when we traded up? Probably not, but teh rules for drafting quarterbacks are different. Tremaine was targeted as a position of need, but was the BPA at the time. It really was a case in which need and BPA matched up. Although they left some pretty good players on the table when they drafted Phillips. I see what you are saying and I do think they will target centers, guards, receivers and tight ends, but those players simply will not be near BPA in the first round this year. Not even close. And that's the issue. If you trade down, fine, but you can't reach on players of need because it is detrimental to your programs as a whole. Again, if you look at their drafts, it hasn't been terrible, but all of the regime changes and a cheap owner kept the organization from keeping their own. There are no 5 start linemen in free agency and there are no 5 star linemen in the draft. I am willing to overpay for an average player in free agency, but not willing to pass on elite talent in the draft in order to draft for need.
  7. Yep. That's like 90% of the league. Still had 3-4 personnel as their base though. Big nose tackle etc etc.
  8. I'm getting ready to pilfer their defense as they got from a 4-3 to a 3-4.
  9. Great points. I do think that the reason we have been so reluctant to choose lineman in the first round is becuase we were always picking in the top ten and the value simply wasnt there. Its more compicated than that. You have to look at each draft individually. In order to draft Eric Moulds they passed on Jermaine Mayberry. In order to draft Antoine Winfield they passed on Aaron Gibson. When they did take a tackle in Mike Williams they took the wrong one. Probably should have drafted Ed Reed that year. Should they have drafted Kwame Harris over Willis McGahee? Probably could have taken Joe Staley instead of Marshawn Lynch, though Staley was considered a big reach that year. They certainly should have taken Ryan Clady or Brendan Albert over Leodis. Hindsight they definitely should have taken Tyron Smith over Dareus and they would have been the laughing stock of the league. EJ Manuel's year they passed on some damn good lineman. Unfortunately they forced themselves into a corner and taking a quarterback. My point is is that it is kind of up and down. There isn't some kind of organizational philosophy against drafting lineman. Most of the time they made the right call, if you really look back at the drafts since 96. For the most part, the guys they passed on are not good. I think they really drafted BPA for the most part.
  10. And that's really just the story of this upcoming draft. The defensive prospects are just so much better than the guys at our positions of need so to speak. I'd have no problem drafting Ferrell or any of the other defensive talent becuase we are drafting BPA. Williams is not an NFL left tackle or right tackle imo. I think he could be a very good guard or an excellent center.
  11. Good research. I would like to add that of all of those players on all of those rosters just five guys, Russell Okung, Eric Fisher, Ronnie Stanley, Matt Khalil and Quentin Nelson were drafted in the top ten of the NFL draft. Aside from Nelson, they are all left tackles. Fisher is largely considered a bust. Matt Khalil barely played this year and has been a huge disappointment.
  12. Great work. I think we are in agreement that many of these guys are interesting in their own way, and absolutely none of them are worth #9 overall.
  13. I'm guessing he maybe follows Munchak to Denver (if he gets the job)
  14. And that's the thing, sure I like Ferrell a lot. But how is Williams going to handle the Von Millers, Joey Bosas, JJ Watts, Demarcus Lawrences, Khalil Macks etc etc etc. Jerry Hughes would embarrass him in practice. I do think that inside at center his technique and footwork would help him and his intelligence and leadership traits could go a long way. His flaws against speed rushers can kind of be hidden there. I would not touch him in the top ten, but back end of the first makes sense.
  15. And you know what's going to happen right? Some perennial winner like Pittsburgh, New England, Green Bay etc are going to bottom out in 2 years and wind up with Lawrence.
  16. And that's why you don't draft Jonah Williams in the top ten. He did not look good against NFL quality defenders like Ferrell. I myself thing that Williams could be an all pro at center. He is not an NFL quality left tackle and I think he would struggle on the right as well. I believe his skills translate best to center.
  17. The best part about this thread is that our Bills are not any part of the discussion.
  18. Because if their quarterback didn't blow, then they have a shot at competing. That is not a bad roster. They also have Marquise Lee coming back. They should not tear it down yet. But Bortles has to go one way or another.
  19. See i think Bridgewater to Jacksonville makes teh most sense. He can dink and dunk and has short and medium range accuracy that allows you to play conservative Marrone-ball. He is the anti-Bortles. Jacksonville is in a bad way. Even if they cut Bortles, Malik Jackson, and Calais Campbell, they would only have 19 million in cap. Jacksonville's situation is a great lesson for why Brandon Beane tore it down and ate all of that dead cap. Jacksonville should be adding to their team and trying to compete, but it's going to be all patchwork going forward. If I am a team like teh Bills, I take advantage of them and pilfer their roster, maybe trade for a guy like Brandon Lindner.
  20. I wonder if he will keep Mike Pettine's defense in place and just focus on offense.
  21. Yeah Jackson is gone. He was getting phased out near the end of the season.
  22. He basically had a big part in Devin Hester. That's pretty much all I know.
  23. Thats fine, but he's still going to go in the top 10-15 and is still better than Mason Rudolph. I think Haskins goes to the Giants for sure.
  24. Ah I got made fun of a bit on here for suggesting he was going to be a really hot coaching candidate a couple of months ago ?‍♀️
  25. So the only reason this is interesting to me is if he bring Todd Bowles with him, or like Chucka Pagano. Either way they would be making the switch to a 3-4, making a lot of their personnel like Gerald McCoy and even Kwon Alexander pretty poor fits and likely available. Even guys like Lavonte David and Jake Cichy would no longer fit that well, though I doubt they would move David.
