  1. He was! But the beautiful thing about it was the Bills had no 1st round pick that year so he was their first pick. It was the perfect team. (I believe the #1 went to LA or Indy in the Bennett trade)
  2. That was retroactive when he became a Dolphin (something I still try not to remember)
  3. Thurman Thomas famously held such a 'grudge' against every team early in his career. He was chosen in the 2nd round.
  4. Agree...I heard he was emulating Jeff Garcia which would fit his age better. Note: Josh is better than Jeff Garcia. We don't need to debate this.
  5. Yeah I think a lot of the posters don't know Cunningham from his pre-ACL injury Eagles days. I suspect Allen has a stronger arm and is a bigger but Cunningham was like a larger, faster, stronger armed Michael Vick. Just electric. Could break off an 80 yard run or an 80 yard bomb at any time. Extremely difficult to bring down. Heck, he had a 91 yard punt against the Giants once! Hard to compare stats as the eras were so different. I am just going off the tape and my memory. Stuff like Allen jumping over Barr was done almost every game by Cunningham. Of course ultimately that leads to injuries which is what happened and why we want Allen to do LESS of that please!
  6. Agree with this. I'd actually put Randall Cunningham above any of those guys (and Josh) in terms of physically gifted.
  7. At the start of the season they do some analytical work to have all teams "regress to the mean". I.e. the very worst teams are more likely than not to get better and the very best teams are more likely than not to get worse. So in aggregate all the records get drawn towards 8-8 to start. Regressing to the mean is not a statement on any one particular team, it's a blanket statement on how statistics work in a population. Also, when 538 makes those predictions, aside from the QB, they literally are only looking at game scores from the past. The more recent the game, the more weight it has. But in the start of the season the most recent games were from last season. This approach is somewhat boring in a sense though... Aside from Allen being the #1 rated QB on their site (all from statistics, not a judgement call), if you look at the historical ELO of every team it says that this Bills team is currently the best team in franchise history. The prior highest ELO was right after the 51-3 smackdown of the Raiders, prior to the first SB loss.
  8. Davis will be #4. Stills won't even be on the active roster this week.
  9. Nope. Lowest seed left standing plays the Chiefs. It will be either Colts (7), Browns (6), or Winner of Ravens(5)/Titans(4). If (when) Bills win, they will get Steelers if they win, or winner of Ravens/Titans if the Browns win.
  10. Turns out I was somewhat off on my estimation of the financials here but he probably did take a ~40% pay cut, or thereabouts, to chase the NFL dream. Still making $143K per year as others have pointed out. Folks have also pointed out he has an American partner so perhaps the personal life considerations are more important as well if he wanted to be in the US.
  11. As a Bills fan I would be glad to see Meyer get this job as it would mean Daboll did not get it. I figured with his resume with Allen these past three years he'd be a natural to lead the team with Lawrence coming in.
  12. Thanks for the info. So at 275GBP he was making about $375k US vs. $143k now. My original point was responding to a comment that he was making more money now than he ever had, was incorrect. That is very likely true. But the lesson learned is don't quote any data on here without Googling it first! (Which sadly, I already knew to be the case...) I should have googled it...thanks for the correction. I was going off old data in the cranium. At some point those practice squad guys were below 100k...maybe many years ago (I am not googling it!)
  13. Wade is making perhaps 1/10 of what he made as a professional rugby player. Practice squad guys don't even make 100k per year and he was a star in rugby.
  14. Future Buffalo Bills Schedules and Opponents | FBSchedules.com I was looking at this one the other day. Seems legit, only lists through 2022.
  15. Right, 4 years in a row with Pittsburgh, I was referring to 3 in a row at Orchard Park. It's based on AFCE playing AFCN in 2022 on the rotating schedule.
  16. Pittsburgh will be at Buffalo in 2022 as well. Three years straight...
  17. I remember this one and also the times he would turtle instead of unloading the ball well in advance of getting hit in the pocket. He was there for one more good pay check before calling it a day and nothing more. Gutless POS and the opposite of a "Process" guy.
  18. Have it on good authority he still walks 3 miles a day in Chicago.
  19. I believe he jumped to avoid accidentally hitting Lock when it would have resulted in a 15 yard penalty and sort of landed on his head as a result. At least that's what I spotted in real time. It was the same play that Butler was shaken up.
  20. Remember that 50 is the new 40. Or so they say...
  21. I only cried over the Bills once. I was 10 years old and Joe Ferguson was valiantly playing through a severely sprained ankle and fell just short of rallying the team in the playoffs against Coryell's Chargers. That was too much for me to handle at the time without tears. When the Bills win the Super Bowl I think it's possible time #2 may occur.
  22. I thought Stefanski already was a head coach. Unless there is another one of them.
  23. I hear you and hindsight is 20/20. But I think his roster replacement is Bryan Cox Jr or Mike Love so that's only $1M per season or less. Would have saved $7M. Protecting the near term against unknowns (like injuries) vs. planning long term is the constant struggle that Beane has to deal with and I don't mean to presume anyone could know the 'perfect' answer here. It's purely in hindsight it's regrettable that he wasn't cut before the season started. Who knows, maybe there will be an injury in the next few weeks and then Murphy is activated and with fresh legs plays a key role in the Super Bowl run!
