Bears @ Bills - Preseason Game 1 - SAT 08/10 - 1 PM
ColoradoBills replied to DaBillsFanSince1973's topic in The Stadium Wall
What are you talking about? I said the position coaches need to take the brunt of this. A HC doesn't control preseadon games. McDermott needs to get on his boys for this showing. Read what I wrote. LOL. -

Agree about preseason. The only thing I saw any good was some WRs, but the OL was so bad the QBs did not have much time to give the WRs many decent balls to catch. -

It was a poor showing of football fundamentals in all phases. Bring on the Steelers and let's see if they can do better. -

It's preseason and there are 90 players on the team. McDermott needs to get on the position coaches for this mess more than anything. It's like half the team didn't know what they were doing. There is always a lot to blame a HC on but having a team not ready to play a preseason game goes WAY beyond him. -

If Shakir's arm were longer that would have been a TD. -

It's preseason. You want to see how the gunners are working. -

It may be the 1st preseason game, but TSW GDT comments are in mid-season form! -

Camp Battles: Quintin Morris vs Zach Davidson
ColoradoBills replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
He couldn't replace Knox, Davidson was on IR last year. -
I remember when lots on this board wanted to sign him. He is now cut with a $9.6M dead cap hit this year and $2.6M next year.

Joe Buscaglia's Projected 53 man roster as of today
ColoradoBills replied to MikePJ76's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is my hope this happens. I agree it's risky having a bunch of players who are unproven. A vet would help, and I truly believe a better one will be available on cutdown day. I'm hoping for one that has worked with Kromer before. -

Amen brother. He pushed it some with Von Miller, Tre and Diggs' restructures (among a few other things). I don't blame him for pushing to get the Lombardi. That phase is over with, and he has moved on. He quickly took measures this year and fixed it, which I personally give him credit for. It would be "poetic justice" if him and McDermott bring home the trophy this season! -

Clapp will make the 53 and one of the rookies will go onto IR to start the season. Davidson or one of the WRs will go to IR. Those 2 "free" IR positions are pretty much an extension of the 53. Then at least one (maybe 2) more IR moves will be made the old-fashioned way using a cheap vet player for the cut and wait in the parking lot scenario. This is why Beane is holding onto the $8M in cap. -

Drafting in the middle of the pack doesn't get you a lot of "stud" QB chances. That's why they should have dumped IMO. -
There is something to be said about having your starters prepare for preseason games as "dress rehearsals". Having them go through the motions of starting a game is half of the mental part of the game. They don't have to stay in long at all. As for Josh, he can leave anytime, and they should bring in Trubisky to get some snaps during a drive just like what would happen if Josh got dinged up. Bring in the rest of the 2s the following drive. That's what I would do if I was king of the forest.

Yep, and fans keep bringing them up every year because they keep on doing it. What has it got them? They haven't made the playoffs since. If you go down that road to win a SB and fail, it's best to dump everything and start over. I don't see them winning their division again this season and they are in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. -

It really doesn't work that way. I see what you are saying but to do that you have to involve more and more players every year and in essence you are just mimicking a "Ponzi "scheme. Every player is its own "pot" of money. Players only last so long. The bad (risky) part of this whole thing revolves around the players ultimate timeline. I laugh at people talking about "paying" $30M to Diggs not to play. That's the wrong way of looking at it. They paid Diggs cash but pushed the cap hit out. Same goes with Von Miller. Every time you restructure a player you are gambling that he will be healthy, productive, and a fit for your system years further in the future. Void years are nothing but a loan which comes due on a specific date. A simple way of looking at it is like this. A player signs for 10M per year for 2 years. You keep him for 2 years but only have the cap counted for $12M during that time. When he leaves you put $8M the next year in the "Dead Money" pot. The last thing is the cap increases. Many say it's okay to do this because the cap goes up every year. True, but so do ALL the costs every year. Everything from rookie pay scales, veteran minimums and even PS weekly pay go up to. This along with every contract for every position increasing doesn't leave money to cover the restructures like some fans think. It's a tough balance for GMs to navigate properly. -
Screw em. Youth is wasted on the young. LOL.
