Leonard Fournette resigns with Tampa - 1 yr, $3.25M
ColoradoBills replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He definitely showed up big in the playoffs when it counted. -
I apologize BillsFan I overread your post with my reply to you and didn't see how you were replying to another. That being said he is nothing more than a change of pace like I said.
-
OK I'm sorry but it seems your Breida stat hunting. He was NOT the feature back for 3 years in SF. In his entire NFL career he has never been a featured RB. His 1st year at SF Carols Hyde was the #1 back. He came to SF as a UDFA and made some noise. His 2nd year he was not the feature back taking only 34% of the offensive snaps. He was the leading yard gainer. His 3rd year he took the least amount of snaps of the 3 headed monster of Coleman/Mostert/Breida. Breida was close to the top of my FA list after Lindsay. He can easily made this team as a change of pace RB. Singletary and Moss do not change how defenses scheme against the Bills at all.

All-In This Year...Nothing Less For the Lombardi
ColoradoBills replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills could draft a Harris/Etienne in the 1st round without kicking anything. The Kittle thing is this. He was a 5th round pick. His big yards receiving is due to his targets. What is the difference if his has 1300+ yards as a TE with more targets than the next 3 pass receivers or having a Diggs and the other WRs? Yards passing is yards passing and to me it doesn't matter who is catching the ball. While it would be great to have a TE with top qualities the fact is he will not get the targets to give him those numbers. The Bills WRs are getting those targets. The Bills IMO need a "stealthy" TE that gets catches at opportune times. Currently the Bills will probably not have a top 10 pick to draft a Mack type player so the only way is luck with a lower pick or to go "big time" in FA. It's points against on Defense and the Bills and Bears are tied with that stat the last 2 years combined. The defense is going to live and die with McDermott and his scheme so we might as well let him and Beane do what they are doing this year. For the previous 3 years this board and the majority of Bills fans said that this team was going to be a Defense first with limited offensive power. Beane and McDermott don't know offense and that's just the way it's going to be! Well Beane and McDermott proved that wrong just last year! As to "kicking the can" the Bills are a good team because of Beane's vision of a complete team. For the record in a way they don't kick the can because they use money for all the other players needed for a team to succeed. Currently the Bills have no cap left next year with 39 players signed. Give them this year to see if a ring can come with their system (process)! -
You know I do too but we better duck when we say it around here! LOL. I think it's a missing piece on offense. They all seem to be good pass catchers which makes it all the more intriguing. If Beane did that he could go with D with his next 4 picks for all I would care.

Don't want them trading up in the 1st. Maybe trade down a few spots with the 1st but I don't see teams who would be interested at the top of the 2nd. Maybe Atlanta at #35. I wouldn't go lower than that. Bills need quality players to break into the roster not quantity IMO. That would net a 4th (which the Bills don't have). Probably best to stick where they are at for the 1st 2 rounds. Beane likes to do something like using a 5th to move up a little in the 3rd to get "his guy". BPA with the 1st 3 rounds in the positions of CB/RB/TE/DE/OL (not in any order) would be fine with me. The later rounds are going to have a hard time breaking the roster. McDermott and Beane might go LB/DB there. They seem to spot some talent there.

Bills restructure Tre White; create cap space

Next year will be the 5th year option the Bills will be picking up soon for $23M. The extension will start in 2023. Same timing as Mahomes just went thru. -
Under The Radar Pass Rush

It has worked for them and I'm going to watch their roster carefully this year to see if the continued dropping of depth and non-star players will cause issues for them. I think there is a good chance it will. -

Those 2 sure are good but my point was: That is all they have. They better stay healthy. The Chiefs O line is not in a good spot either. -
It really is pretty unique. It's fun to be a fan right now.

I buy Center Ice every year and I have watched most of their games this season and will watch them play the Penguins tonight! I agree with your reply! -

I doubt extremely that the Bills will be sucking sewer water at the bottom of the NFL like the Sabres are in the NHL. -

Exactly. Josh is already on the books in Spotrac next year for his 5th year option for $23M. That is what he will be playing under. -

The D line rotation is McDermott so it is what it is. I have to ask you while we are talking about DEs. Have you looked at the Chiefs roster for DE? After Clark their best DE is either Taco Carlton (the bust) or Michael Danna (5th round rookie last year with 1 start). Maybe they go with Tim Ward an UDFA last year with 1 start? I'm curious how you would feel if the Bills were in this position with $20M in "restructured" cap left? -

ColoradoBills replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With McDermott's philosophy of having a high level of rotation on the D line the Bills have typically carried more D line players on the 53 than typical. The Bills carried 9 last season for the most part. I don't expect that to change this year. It seems to me that after this signing of Obada the odds of a high draft pick going to DE has declined some. I'm not a huge college football fan but listening to most on this board that are it is not a great year for DEs. I feel Beane is hedging his bets on not getting a good DE in the draft and could well be thinking of going with other positions. I know it's "hip" to trash the Bills on their DL and I have engaged in it myself BUT the Bills pass D while lower rated than in the past wasn't bad at all. Statistically it's still the Run Game Defense that still lags a team of this caliber. I got hope and I'm starting to think Beane and McDermott definitely think the personnel can play better this coming season. Maybe they know more about Star coming back helping all along the line then we do. Like I said "I hope". -

4-3 defenses usually dress 4 on gameday. -
It's all part of Free Agency. I have been watching the Colts. They had a pretty good Defense last year and got plenty of cash but are letting a number of players sign with other teams. No one knows why these things happen.

Pretty much so though Spotrac makes mistakes too. Spotrac does not have "official" NFL numbers nor does OTC. Trying to get the exact dollars from reading theirs sites is not going to get you the Official NFL totals. I see mistakes all the time (albeit Spotrac is much more accurate than OTC in my findings). Spotrac doesn't have the Void year (yet) on Sanders contract but OTC does. Same with Tyler Matakevich. OTC on the other hand doesn't even have Quinton Jefferson's (and a bunch of other Dead Cap) of $1.5M Dead Cap hit! Spotrac has an $800k Dead Cap hit this year for Tyler Kroft (which I think is wrong). I'm sure he will be the yardstick which the others who compete will be measured by. I seen him fumble as a rookie here in Broncoland but punt returns is a skill set that sometimes needs to be learned. They have to focus on the ball and not the gunners. Isaiah has been shagging punts as the 2nd for a couple of years now in Buffalo. I will say a CB that can return punts is a desirable draft selection if I'm Beane!

5-1=4? McKenzie was in most of the 4 WR sets. It was Roberts who sat out.

I want to see some speed in the RB group. But that's me. I know Hollister at TE is a long shot but at least speed is his big weapon.
