  1. I can see a guy like Nelson on a one year contract but that is about it.
  2. Good post. I would add that pass blocking is not just the 5 OL guys. It could be TE(s) and RB(s) plus the QB knowing what his bailout moves need to be. Talent is critical but teams that play together longer have an advantage in improving. Having depth players to fill in when needed without upsetting the play is also very important. This whole dance also changes every week against different opponents. To start the season I feel the Bills have an advantage over the Chief when it comes to pass blocking. I'm hopeful they can make strides in run blocking this year too.
  3. The only Miami game that matters is the next one and McDermott knows that.
  4. LOL, I had to check Spotrac on Long Snappers. The top 7 paid LSs all average the same amount $1,212,500. Maybe Reid will reset the market at $1,213,000!
  5. Beane got the official word on the 2022 cap and is already taking care of things on his "To Do" list.
  6. Agree with all your TE posts. Bills got 450 yards receiving last year from the TE position. If that can go up to 650-700 yards it's more than enough. The same type of improvement is needed in the RB position both in rushing and receiving. If all that can happen (and it can even with the current players) watch out NFL!
  7. Well said Barley! You should have this ready to copy and paste in all future cap threads. You describe exactly where the team is now that it has matured into a contender team. Personally I think that Beane is about done with the roster this year. I expect some tweaking of the camp bodies and MAYBE a 1 year low salary hit on 1 more CB. I'm not sure that will cause Beane to do another restructure. At cutdown to the 53 day there are a number of "below the 51 cap guys" who will make the roster and offset some money needed for the season. IMO FWIW.
  8. No you are not missing anything. My point was that the Bills were in the hole for 2022 before the raise in cap. Now they are not. Also there are no "big name" FAs to sign. They for sure are not swimming in cap space but they are not in any cap trouble. That's why I said they will be fine.
  9. If you want to be concerned about what might happen in the future it's your prerogative. The current hire looks "qualified" to me. IF in the future Kim Pegula makes McDermott hire one of her girlfriends as the Offensive Coordinator I too will be concerned. In the meantime I wish Sophia Lewin good luck in her new job.
  10. That's $16M more than what Spotrac currently has. Bills will be fine next year.
  11. Which would of put him between Jared Cook and Jimmy Graham last year. It's a big season for him and I hope he comes through.
  12. She is filling an entry level position and has already interned with the team. She has been involved in football since High School. I truly don't get what you are talking about.
  13. No they are not. That was @Limeaid point. For me it's a long way off till September and I will wait before "handwringing". Lot's of people still in a "wait and see" mode. Personally I got mine and am happy I did. I didn't know that and yes the NFLPA has the input regarding the players.
  14. The players are NFL employees but I do get the irony of it.
  15. She seems like an interesting candidate. https://www.monmouth.edu/magazine/changing-the-face-of-football/
  16. I've speculated this earlier, I get the feeling McDermott and Frazier may be bringing a tweak in the front 7 scheme. Epenesa may be looking at a hybrid role in a new look.
  17. The fact is Wade is on the roster as a RB. He will get a shot in preseason to carry the ball and probably some ST duty. He is a longshot to make the 53 roster but has a little better chance to make the PS as an eligible "call up" player this year. Anything more than that on both extremes of this topic is just unwarranted IMO. As a "feel good" story I will admit I am looking forward to watching him take some snaps in the summer.
  18. While I empathize with the Rochester area fans about SJF that era of Buffalo Bills football seems to be at an end. The positive is they got a state-of-the-art facility to train and recover in so that seems best for the success of the team. Also, as much as I enjoy hearing about camp news if they want a more private practice situation it's fine with me. Winning playoff games is the goal not summer practice in front of fans. IMO.
  19. So let me get this straight. BB is breaking out the "wishbone" offense this year and Bills fans are terrified?
  20. IMO any chance that Beane was going to trade picks for Ertz is over and done with. I extremely doubt he now will trade future picks and take on the current cap hit. For all practical purposes the roster going into camp is pretty much set with maybe the exception of a vet CB. The rest of the slots will mostly be made up of UDFAs and vet minimum players.
  21. Exactly. Fans who do nothing but looking at the $ figure without any context have no idea what they are talking about. One would have to go through the remaining roster and first look at the upcoming free agents that are not on the books. Take the Chiefs for example. They will need to sign Orlando Brown which alone will lower their cap space greatly. I for one have given up trying to explain that.
  22. Look up Hollister's Special Teams snaps and tackles. More than Gilliam. Got to find those guys that can produce on both teams. I'm hoping a depth player steps up to take Jones's gunner spot. Those 2 extra roster spots would be great!
