  1. I'm starting to get a feeling that Beane will not extend any of the Knox, Edmunds, Poyer deals this year. Add Singletary and others who are UFAs next year and it's probably not a bad idea to hold off to see what happens this season before committing. Throw in Gabe Davis and it becomes a puzzlement where to put limited money and the unknown cap increase coming soon is also a variable. Oliver is already signed for his 5th year option next year and he will no doubt be high on the list for a long-term contract.
  2. Trubisky no doubt had a choice of a few teams to go to. His selecting of Pittsburgh was a good decision IMO. Just said the same thing.
  3. While I agree with some of your points, especially bringing in expensive UFAs, a "decent" line is needed by every team. Once all the starters return for the Bills they will be decent. They lack some decent long-term young depth to eventually take over. Next year I could see the need and willingness of Beane to go as high as a 2nd on the OL and at least someone else around the 4th. IMO it's the last pipeline to fill with some younger talent (C and G) and expect it to happen.
  4. What makes me very excited is that 7 of the top 9 DL are already signed for next year. Only Phillips and Shaq are UFA in 2023. This line could really gel and become a force for the next 3-4 years. If 1 or 2 of the depth safeties can step up and fill starter roles the D is pretty much set and the drafting resources can feature a lot of offense the next 2 years! I'm more hopeful of the DL than I have been in a long, long time.
  5. The Bills have already exercised his 5th year option and he's playing for $10.7M. He won't cost big money (cap) until 2024 or 2025 depending on when and how the contract unfolds.
  6. If the Duke Johnson signing has pushed Zach Moss (now healthy) to another level the $377k dead money will be worth it. Competition for roster spots on this team is intense.
  7. Very telling on how much Von praises Brandon Beane in multi parts of this talk. Buying a house next to Coach McDermott and his comments of Orchard Park were cool. Had to laugh about how he has instructed Josh about "Club 17" was great. Thanks @Warcodered, I would of never found this on my own!
  8. Any semi-educated fan of football can look at any NFL roster and pick out "perceived" weak spots at this time of year. EVERY NFL team has them. Scott scours the Bills roster and incessantly beats on his "position(s) of the year" to get a rise out of the board. I don't "take the bait" anymore.
  9. Of course, we all would like to see the OL completely healthy to start camp. That's just a fact. Thing is it's a long, long season and who is healthy at the end is the MOST important. Looking for anything positive we could say at least the depth players get more 1st team snaps. If Bates, Brown and Saffold are all back by next week I see no long-term detriment. I know getting all the 1's reps is important at this time of the year, but we sure don't want them returning too quickly and prolonging injuries.
  10. 6 games is an insult. This is all left in Roger Godell's hands now. I'll wait to see what he (the voice of the owners) decides.
  11. Spotrac currently has Devin at a market value of $5.2M per year. It's a shame he probably will fall into the RB has "overpriced himself" conundrum that is so prevalent lately. Maybe Beane can work something out with him and his agent, but I won't get my hopes up.
  12. Thank you for making it so easy for me to enable the "ignore" function provided by this message board!
  13. I still have hope for Hodgins, the 6th rounder from the Russell Bodine fleecing of BB.
  14. Agree. I can easily see the 2nd place West team being the top of the 3 Wildcard teams. But I have to think the other 2 come from one of the remaining 3 Divisions.
  15. The AFC West plays the NFC West and AFC South. A lot of wins for all the teams. The divisional games will be brutal. The off games really will help to balance the final standings. I can't vote due to the fact I believe it's going to be way too close to call right down to the wire. The winner clinches in Week #18.
  16. I'm not asking for your help. What Lil' Dirty wants to do with his career is up to him. I just stated the facts of what happened. Personally, I was glad he re-signed with the enthusiasm he displayed.
  17. I just gave you one article. He did not test FA and re-signed with the Bills. He wanted to stay in Buffalo. You can look it up if you want.
  18. From everything I remember hearing is that McKenzie wanting to sign with the Bills and made that quite clear. https://billswire.usatoday.com/2022/03/18/why-isaiah-mckenzie-re-signed-buffalo-bills/
  19. Time is about run out for Tommy, I fear. He has had only 17 catches in his career and his blocking is average at best from what I see and hear. That 2020 illness may be the reason but who knows. He doesn't play any special teams and that can't help. If he doesn't step up now, I see him heading to the PS or outright cut. It could be a shame that Howard is not a great improvement, but I got to give him some more time.
  20. I don't expect much from any TE2. Hoping for some good blocking and catching 15-20 passes.
  21. Yes. A few days earlier on a 2-year deal.
  22. I can see Ed Oliver signing cheap and getting a lucrative PSE contract as a country music star.
  23. Agree. FWIW the Bills ran 8% of 12 and 0% of 13 last year. I imagine most of the 12 was shorter yardage. They may add some 12 in longer situations this year. They ran only 1% of 22 last year. With Cooks versatility that might go up some (league average of 3%).
  24. Cleaning up some disk issues or shaving a spur are considered minor. I'm not an orthopedic surgeon but I spent my entire working career helping to engineer and manufacture fixation devices. No one wants back surgery, and it is extremely scary and dangerous. It just sounds like Spencer's procedure wasn't too invasive. Let's all hope that is what McDermott meant.
  25. The game's outcome was razor thin. One third down pass break-up giving the ball back to Josh could have been the difference. Presuming that Tre White's contributions would not have made a difference is also a fact-free opinion.
