    I googled it and found out Red Blacks were named for the color of the Rough Rider uniform...the first team name after Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders.

    I just googled it. Ottawa was named initially in tribute to Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. They changed their name to Red Blacks which were the colors of the Rough Rider uniform. Still...who won the game?

    But rough riders were members of their mounted police. I think there is another Canadian team still using that name. I'm wondering what a redblack is. Is that a reference to a uniform?
