  1. Or it could have been just emotionally exhausting. Diggs is an emotional player. Likely he expressed a lot during their conversations and McD wisely let him deal with those emotions privately. I thought I heard McD say they got back together later in the day, or did I mishear that?
  2. Actually I heard about this from someone very reliable, who knew the police officer as well. The story is none of anyone's business other than the parties involved so I will not elaborate. Suffice to say the matter is over with. We're onto training camp 2023.
  3. None of us are pleased that Diggs is not in attendance. None of us were pleased at the way last year's season ended. In truth, it looked like the team wasn't even trying...especially on defense. So Diggs...who never quits...walks away from that game with bad feelings, a lot of anger. The fact that Diggs showed up in WNY and met with Beane and McD indicates to me that he was ready to express his feelings about last year and how it ended, and what he believes are the steps necessary to get past it and move forward in a positive direction...and FINISH. I'll withhold any further judgement. Anything beyond the facts that have been confirmed is pure speculation...including my post. Let's just take a breath and wait and see.
  4. In my opinion, there were two main problems with last year's offense: 1. The offensive line and 2. Isaiah Mckenzie. We've improved the offensive line...at least the quality of players. Getting rid of McKenzie is addition by subtraction. He could not be relied upon and, I believe cost us points.
  5. I don't believe KC was. Bills and KC were pretty even. By the end of the year Cinci was better. It would have been a better gauge had we played them at the beginning of the season, when the Bills were healthy.
  6. I totally agree with this. Another thing that has impacted this team in the playoffs the last couple of years as been the defensive scheme. One thing I noted about Frasier in Buffalo and when he was in Minnesota was that he became less agressive as the season wore on. I think he saw the margin of error becoming less and less as the season went on, and thus coached more passively. He coached not to lose, rather than to win. I think of it as coaching scared. I'm hoping we see a less conservative approach with McD calling the defensive shots. We'll see.
  7. That was Frazier in my opinion. He's always coached scared in big games. Too banged up. Every game you prayed we wouldn't lose another starter.
  8. This game shows why McKenzie was let go. He was such a liability.
  9. He seemed to be returning to form late in the season.
  10. This was the topic of discussion today. A lot of callers expressed their frustration about the NFL dispersing their product over all of these paid subscription services. Younger callers didn't mind so much as they stream and watch on their phones. Older callers were the most frustrated. I am older, having lived through the TV antenna days of my youth, then moving onto cable, doing Dish at one point, back to cable, and now streaming. I use the Spectrum App on my Apple TV and Roku and have found this quite easy to do. I added Apple + after having a free 12 month subscription that came with the Apple receiver. I like their original programming, particularly when network TV is in rerun stage. I got a free 12 month subscription to Peacock for one year through my Spectrum subscription, but dropped it afterward. I added Amazon Prime video when Thursday Night football migrated. I like a lot of their programming as well, so have stuck with it year round. At some point you have to draw the line. There is so much available on so many platforms (Netflix, Britbox, Paramount, etc) yet you can't watch it all. If I have to pay $4.99 to watch a couple of football games, I may or may not. It used to be that we called the cable companies greedy. Now all the streaming companies are getting that way, because they want subscribers. The NFL is a draw, as Amazon learned and now Peacock wants to follow. I learned from a Spectrum rep, that after this last contract, the YES network will no longer be available on cable or through the Spectrum App. Now that YES is it's own platform, for $24.99 per month, they want Yankee fans to subscribe directly from them. My brother is a huge Yankee fan and he is strictly cable, subscribing to the sports package at Spectrum. I'm wondering how he's going to react to this news. He just this year got a cell phone as his kids made him get it after the latest blizzard knocked out his power etc. I don't know that he'd ever go to streaming tv. He's a couple years older than me and is very old school. He probably would have had trouble with the wheel.
  11. They just mentioned on One Bills Live that you will need a Peacock premium subscription to watch the game. It will not be on the free tier. They also had a bar owner call in that said they don't have access to the Peacock games to show to their customers. There is no mechanism for them commercially.
  12. Not impressed with the trophies...especially the MVP trophy.
  13. It's a reason. Not an excuse. Injuries to key players especially hit them hard last season. Again, having said that coaching, particularly by the coordinators was lacking. And truthfully, Cinci was the better team last year. They had a much more aggressive defense and offensively they have better weapons.
  14. I think they were gassed and had nothing left in the tank, though it's not an excuse. Having said that, Bengals were the better team hands down. We didn't seem to have an offensive or defensive game plan that game. The defense was passive and the offense had nothing beyond Diggs.
  15. Tasker was saying this the other day on One Bills Live, that getting them early before they have time to gel could be a good thing. I just hope we come out like we did last year against the Rams and the Titans...before all the injuries.
  16. Just watched it. Really good to see the Beane work and the unity between coaches and scouts. Thanks to the OP for letting us know it was on.
  17. I was just going to post the "lightning in a bottle" sentiment. He had his moment of glory and fizzled back to normalcy.
  18. That's because people stop listening if they hear something they don't like or don't want to hear. They immediately get reactionary. You exactly captured what Beane said in his presser.
  19. I got the impression from that presser that the question of Williams position has to do with how much of our defense he can absorb as a rookie. He played in a 2 LB system at Tulane, but the defense was very basic. If Williams can grasp the complexity of the Bills defense quickly, he could very well factor in as Edmund's replacement.
  20. Beane just said on OBL, that with so many guys at 90, you don't get a good enough chance to take a look at guys. He feels it's a disservice to the players and their agents, that they tell these guys they'll get a chance with the team, so they sign. Then ultimately they don't and could have gone elsewhere where they had a better shot. Makes sense.
  21. I'm currently watching Total Access on the NFL Network and the question was posed to Maurice Jones Drew and Bucky Brooks, who drafted the best players to improve their team? MJD surprised me by immediately saying the Buffalo Bills with Kincaid and Torrence improving weapons and the oline. I rarely hear MJD say anything good about the Bills. Brooks immediately agreed, but then added Seattle.
  22. My first credit card was Discover...right out of college eons ago. I think they were the first one to offer a cash back bonus. They have the 5% categories that change quarterly that I take advantage of. I have since acquired other cards, all offering a cash back bonus. I select which card to use based on which is most advantageous, always paying them off each month. Discover was also one of the first to offer online savings accounts as well. Years ago I was earning better than 3% on my savings. They also had a 5% CD that I took advantage of. When Ally came about, I moved my online savings there. Their rate was slightly better at the time but mainly I had more flexibility in how I could structure beneficiaries. When interest rates dropped, their rate would drop...but never to the pittance you get at your local bank. As rates have increased, they have raised their rates again. Right now they are just under 4%. Very easy to do business with as well (both them and Discover). Easy to set up and move money as needed. Quite honestly, I don't know why folks don't take advantage of savings mechanisms and avenues that have been available for a long time.
  23. I am really excited about this roster! Last year it was obvious that our weakness on offense was on the oline and the lack of real weapons beyond just a couple of guys. This new offensive roster should result in a younger, better oline with depth. Also we now have offensive weapons that can create mismatches and allow for more unpredictability. Defensively...just getting Von back will help the pass rush. At DT the big concern is next year, so hopefully we extend a couple guys and bring in some FAs. I've got to believe they have a plan at LB...and we've definitely added speed and tackling ability there. I agree with others that have said just getting Hyde back improves the secondary. The young corners that were pressed into service last year showed that there is talent there so I only expect improvement. I know that folks complain about the emphasis on STs. I'm hoping that these older players that have tied up salary playing primarily STs will be replaced by many of these young signings. Getting younger is huge moving forward. I know the division competition has gotten better, but in thinking of those games last year where we struggled it was largely due to the ineffective oline play. So...yes divisional opposition has improved...but then again, I think, so have we. Time will tell.
  24. We also are getting younger on the oline! That is needed for future cap control.
