  1. Really looking forward to that Steelers game. Agreed, but it was also just really poor timing. I think Tre White missed that game, plus Wallace was out, so we had Norman as our starting corner. Plus the Titans had been ragged on all week and had an "us against the world" mentality to really motivate them. And the uncertainty of whether or not the game would be played on top of that. I want to see a rematch of that game with more normal circumstances.
  2. The past few years have been kind of interesting. The team was kind of built through free agency to stay competitive. We never really tanked like other teams often do while rebuilding. We for sure shelled out a lot of money to free agents. I think going forward we will see more of a "building through the draft" mentality since we seem to have a good core of talent now. But I did suspect that the Bills got a lot of value out of their free agents. So that's good to see some numbers to support that.
  3. Imagine having to go through both the Titans AND the Chiefs to get to the championship game, though. That is a huge opportunity to do something special. We lost to both of them in the regular season and have a chance at revenge on both of them. It would be pretty epic to overcome that.
  4. The Ravens haven't been that impressive in the playoffs. They've wet the bed two years in a row. Maybe that gives them extra motivation, but I think teams are already figuring out how to play them more effectively. When we faced them last year our WR's were being mugged all game long, and they didn't have the size or physicality to overcome that. I don't see that being any different this year (unless the officials decide to call holding). So yeah, I too would not love to face them in the playoffs, but every team has it's drawbacks. I do not think the Dolphins will make it. But we'll see.
  5. So they beat the Cards. But the Bills beat them. And the Pats couldn't beat Seattle, but we did. I don't see any logical way to determine that the Pats are as good or better than the Bills. Both team's records seem pretty accurate to me. Oh, and I think Miami goes 8-8 or 9-7. They have a tough slate of games coming up.
  6. Nice work. This will be an interesting thing to look at going forward. Is this same type of thing possible for free agency classes (isolating the time played with current team only, not time with previous teams). That would provide a full GM picture if you can look at draft classes AND free agency classes. You could then combine the metrics to come up with a single GM score card somehow.
  7. So an average gain of 3.15 yards (taking out the 44 yard play), or 4.67 if you include the 44 yard play. Not great. But also not the end of the world. The most concerning bit is the two fumbles, but the down has nothing to do with fumbling it.
  8. Yeah. He would have been clotheslined.
  9. Ok. But Beane doesn't report to McDermott. They both report to the Pegulas. How you choose to interpret that is up to you.
  10. I doubt that. I'm sure Beane was a big part of bringing in personnel. Clearly McDermott does not answer to Beane, but they also clearly collaborate and both answer to the Pegulas, who luckily allow them to do their thing.
  11. The Houston situation was a joke. Clearly just O'Brien grabbing as much power as possible. Gaine deserves another shot in a better situation.
  12. I like that Beane likes to bring in the best, brightest, most experienced guys he can. Other GM's seem to be threatened by underlings like that. All they seem to care about is control. Glad that both McDermott and Beane care about winning and are humble and collaborative enough to bring in people as smart or smarter than them. How many power struggles have we gone through over the years? And we see it all the time with other teams too.
  13. A 10 point Bills victory?
  14. I've been critical of Lynn ever since he left Buffalo. He went from a running backs coach to a head coach. I just didn't think he had enough experience. He wasn't even a coordinator.
  15. Truly. I usually watch a few games a week and I see the same mistakes in nearly every single game, including from the "elite" teams.
  16. And Lynn deserved it all. He was horrible. I took a peak at the Chargers message boards after the game and it was not pretty. Fans seem to hate Lynn and have wanted him fired for a long time now. He just isn't qualified to be a head coach.
  17. Or he is in his 40's and isn't good anymore...
  18. So you take away the field goal, AND take away the defensive stop at the end, AND you still have to manufacture one more score for the Bills to lose. Yeah, totally. Make those THREE changes and the Bills lose.
  19. I would tell you to pump the breaks and that McDermott is unproven in the playoffs. I routinely criticize both extremes.
  20. Yeah, it took Reid decades of coaching to win a Superbowl. He was actually criticized for his failure to perform in the playoffs and get to the big game until he finally did.
  21. It seems you are of the "I know everything that will happen and my opinion is reality" mentality. You are just plain wrong. The Bills are good enough right now to make a run in the playoffs.
  22. Everyone else is depressed because of fans like you. Just do us a favor and leave. Go root for one of your supposed "championship" coaches. How many years did it take for Reid to win a superbowl? How many Superbowls has Vrabel won? This is just ridiculous.
  23. No, actually it is an irrational view. Maybe try watching other games. It's pretty rare to see teams go out and stomp an opponent for 4 quarters. The Chiefs make mistakes. They let teams back in. They fumble it sometimes. They played from behind in every game in the playoffs last year and eventually won the Superbowl. What you want is unrealistic. Absolutely, the Bills should not be turning the ball over like that (and they usually don't), but it is pretty uncommon to go an entire game without turning it over. And it's uncommon to blow teams out. This is a good Bills team. Maybe they aren't the best team in the NFL yet, and that's fine. They are still growing and progressing. Allen is still progressing. It is irrational to believe that the Bills should be blowing out teams and never making mistakes. This is just getting ridiculous. It absolutely did NOT come down to a field goal. That field goal put the team up by 10. Better teams have lost to the Bills already this season. You are insufferable.
  24. So true. We go out and keep winning and have to deal with this bull crap every week. They excuse away wins like they are meaningless.
  25. But it's not a lot of money. That's my point. There are like 25 linebackers in the NFL that make 10 million or more in the NFL. Some of those are edge rushers. But that's the going rate for starting linebackers these days. Edmunds is going to make 15 plus.
