One thing of note.. As the season progressed there was a definitive shift in snap count, particularly inside. Ed and Phillips were getting nearly double the snaps as Star and whomever else was active those games. The number jumped even further when you look when the snaps occurred (early vs. late with the game decided). Not sure if this represents a new philosophy or coaching realizing how drastic the drop in play when the 2nds were in.

Fitz is coming off a pretty serious injury. The curse is so strong it even got HIM as the starting QB. Also, with the QB market being pretty dry and a lot of teams looking for upgrades he could be in line for a chance to start with some teams. Berrios is reportedly looking for $9M/season. Any team that aquires Metcalf should be prepared to brace themselves to give him a new deal before he even sees the field. And he will be looking to get top tier money. And if he gets that...be ready for Diggs to want a re-up ASAP as he's earned that. While I can concede that Metcalf and Chark are different levels, the OP suggested trading 2 firsts for him. Metcalf is great but the better value there is Chark, the cap savings to devote to other areas, and 2 1sts IMO.

I think Chark is very possible. He has elite speed. Ran a 4.34 40 (Tyreek Hill was 4.29) so with Beane's comments at the end of season presser, I have to believe he's on their radar. Also, he's coming off an injury that ended his year and joining a ton of excellent WRs on the FA pool. Good chance he has to end up on a 1 or 2 year "prove it" deal. And I would think catching passes from Allen, in a pass heavy offense is a attractive way to rehab your value. This is a signing I really could see.

2 firsts for DK is a no go for me. Get DJ Chark instead. 6'4" with great speed and solid hands. Very good at YAC. Put him with Diggs and Gabe and Josh has a 5000 passind season. Bradley Bozeman, Connor Williams for the O line. Move up for Jordan Davis for the D line in the draft. Donate Jackson at CB.

It was a VERY high level buisness meeting, indeed.

That was basically Beane's approach a few years ago when we signed McCarron. Ended up flipping him for a pick, too. I'm fairly certain we will draft one on day 3 and mix in a guy like Brandon Allen as a low price backup that has starting experience.

Counterpoint: We pretty much spoke the Diggs trade into existence a full year before it happened 😂 If Young is so worth giving up high picks for...why would another team want the picks over Young? Why wouldn't they just take Young plus the Commanders picks?

That pipeline will likely still be there in 4-5 years as well. In the meantime he gets to build his resume, reputation and make connections while still being "one of the guys". He's not playing so he's still not absorbing hits.
