Josh needs to work on the fumbling
UConn James replied to UConn James's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Patently obvious. But for whatever reason, it simply hasn’t been an area of emphasis by him or the coaching. -
Whatever Josh Allen is going to do in this offseason with Palmer, et al. he’s gotta put some emphasis on his grip or lack thereof on the football. Yesterday’s fumble came at a key point and the replay showed that the defender didn’t even touch the ball, it just dropped out of Josh’s hand like the hot potato of metaphor. The looseness with ball security has been an ongoing issue this season. He gets in trouble, gets pressured and becomes clumsy with his grip. That may be the Number 1 issue that he has to work on that is a weakness entirely his own, imo.

No doubt. And unless he reproduced asexually, that would seem to be exactly what he did. —— In another area, a pretty sound hypothesis about Snoke’s origin, since certain things were shown in the opening scenes. How cunning and apropos! https://apple.news/AcNz5z9CARdC7hxa3_y59jg

Some quick hits of backgrounding from the forthcoming(?) TROS encyclopedia. TROS plot holes answered by visual dictionary Interesting bit about the Jannah character’s possible parentage from Lando, whose child after ROTJ was taken by the First Order.

The Mandalorian Season 2 - official trailer [ed title]
UConn James replied to Fixxxer's topic in Off the Wall
Like dev, I don’t necessarily disagree with the points. But this is the intro material that builds character/s for what will hopefully be a long-running series. I prefer the simplistic run-down of: Mando is a jaded bounty-hunter in a moral-relativism world who finally faces an ethical quandary. He must take jobs where he’s putting himself at risk (what you call naivety) because he is now being hunted by his former employer/coworkers and can’t pick and choose. That slaver ship doesn’t run on hopes and dreams. Baby Yoda is hardly a McGuffin plot device. Mando / Din Jarryn has been tasked with returning BY to his home planet / species. After such a long time of knowing nothing about the Yoda-species, there is now insight and more on the horizon. Space western: £#€¥ yeah!!!! Old scores to settle. Desert planets. Shootouts. .... There aren’t that many types of story about justice, which is essentially the question at the heart of SW (light and dark, lawless outer rim and ordered, organized federation) and the quest for a balance. Malcolm Gladwell appeared on Jos Rohan’s podcast recently and they discussed the topic, centered around police procedural dramas but can be extended here... where Gladwell points to four main story types: the Western, The Eastern, the Northern, the Southern. https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/joe-rogan-and-malcom-gladwell-posed-a-mind-blowing-theory-about-crime-shows.html/ -
JJ confirmed that Finn wanted to reveal that he thinks he’s force-sensitive and that it was not about anything romantic. Kinda wish they had settled that on-screen, but not a big deal. Maybe in a deleted scene in extras.

The Mandalorian Season 2 - official trailer [ed title]
UConn James replied to Fixxxer's topic in Off the Wall
Wow. This series has been a great addition & and breath of fresh air to the Star Wars universe. Shouldn’t be surprised that the former / final(?) imperial leader of Mandalore has the Blacksaber, as that’s where the Clone Wars series left things. Awesome! Dave Filoni &/or Jon Favreau should take over for Kathleen Kennedy. -
You knock on wood RIGHT NOW!!!!

Computer plate umps allowed in new labor deal

Hawkeye made tennis much better. Limiting the fallible influence of referees in any way can only be for the better. -
Yup. It was more like 4th and 1/2-yard. Why the hell not show your guys you believe in them? The way NE was moving the ball and controlling the time of possession, it left our D really gassed. Beating the Pats requires you to keep Brady & Edelman off the field, and we just gave it right back to them after a 3 and out. And as it turned out — PREDICTABLY — Brady was right back to the spot three plays later.

Example: How the refs help the cheaters win
UConn James replied to peterpan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point, I’m pretty much in favor of losing Hughes because the refs just absolutely hate him. They flag him easier than anyone in the league for personal fouls and call nothing when he’s mauled. And, as a second point, his run D is terrible. -
True. Very true. No establishing intro narrative, just jumped right in. JJ having to clean up and having to retcon Rian Johnson to a degree left no option unless it would be 3 hours. I had read some of the fanboy criticism in the lead-up and imo it was very unwarranted.

Even having had some core spoilers for TROS, and disappointed in Luke’s plotline in these sequels, I really liked it. Satisfying wrap to this 3-film arc and to the overall. When I rewatched TLJ prior, I skipped the Finn/Rose/Canto Bight(?) parts — which had zero importance to the story anyway — and doing this made that much more watchable. I will say that this seems a natural stepping-off point for both JJ and Kathleen Kennedy. Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau have proved in the Clone Wars series and with The Mandalorian that they have a far better grasp on the storytelling for the franchise, and ought to be given the keys to Lucasfilm.

NFL TV Schedule and Maps: Week 16
UConn James replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I tried looking on the google to find which local broadcast channel might be airing the game, but have come up empty. Is it going to be on WBZ in the Boston market? Will have to hope for good weather & all that as the Boston broadcasting tower is still running on low power after the antenna “repack” realignment of channel frequencies. Not due to be completed until spring 2020. This is ordinarily one of the very few benefits of being a Bills fan in New England region. -
Why the hell does he bring it out of the end zone like every time, only to get crushed at the 20 or, like here, get a penalty. We start at the 10 instead of the 25. Waste of a spot by a guy who thinks he can make something out of every return. No, he can’t.

What nickname do you like best for Josh Allen?
UConn James replied to SuperBowlOrBust's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can someone explain why all of the commentators and announcers use just “Baker” for Baker Mayfield? I don’t watch pregame or cable shows much, but it’s always “Baker” when I’ve heard it. I don’t quite get that. -
Condolences, Clem. ? We had my mum’s funeral five years ago today, 61 from pancreatic-area cancer.

My dad was a rural carrier until just a few years ago. The USPS has agreements with FedEx to deliver some certain packages on the final leg of their journey, which includes in the mailbox, so that wouldn’t be against the law. Just looked it up, it’s termed SmartPost. Just FYI. Word is that this agreement may be ending this year.

So, she’s going to play the ’my husband is the worst human being alive’ card in an attempt to get the kids and alimony. Sounds like the trauma inflicted on the kids has come from HER. And how about that last sentence? “For REAL victims of domestic violence”... as if her husband was not just a victim of domestic violence. What a POS.

In essence, this is what the league has tried to do with replays going through NY central office & Riveron. In this way the idea would be achieving consistency. The implementation of it, however, has been a complete disaster, especially WRT PI calls & non-calls. At this point, I’m 100 percent certain that the league uses refs to both favor certain teams & players or as a way to nudge keeping game scores closer for viewership / ratings. I haven’t watched NHL much in awhile, but it seemed to me that in the new era, the refs there aren’t the media whores they are in the NFL. And it’s a consistent job rather than 16 games a year. It might be an idea to just lock away the replay people and give them no info on what the original call was and no contact with the refs on the field other than delivering a verdict. That might help, both in actual bias or perceived bias.

Anybody watching Amazon Jack Ryan series?
UConn James replied to BobbyC81's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Awesome series. Is the military operative lead the same actor as the king in the Bud Light ads?
