The perceived notion that this defense at one time was considered elite (statistically) during his tenure is such a fallacy. Just look at this units playoff success and not regular season beating up on AFCE tomato cans.
I won't say his beloved nickel scheme can't work, but he doesn't have the right make up of players currently to make it formidable. Its basically the same scheme Houston runs but theirs sure looks a whole lot different doesn't it. It was fairly successful when main cogs like Taron, Milano and Tre were in their prime, but that ship has sailed.
Sure, offense is a problem at times but it's still capable of putting up points in bunches.
Yeah, it's McD for me. Until we get the Dawgs that can excel in it we're just spinning our wheels as we continue to keep and restructure washed players.
