Tre'Davious White - when will he be ready?
ShakAttack replied to Deadstroke's topic in The Stadium Wall
You know with Bills fans, the moment he is active to play on Game Day, he is our beloved All-Pro / Pro Bowl Corner again and all is forgiven. The only way there is love lost is if Tre ends up not playing a single game for us this season, or if he indeed stinks it up when he finally does play. But you gotta love Bills fans, most of these guys hating on him will be his #1 fan the day he is finally active. -
when practice was cancelled yesterday the first thing I thought was “well at least we won’t risk any injuries in practice”. Knowing the way this year has gone injury-wise, wouldn’t surprise me if we lost (another) starter ourselves. I don’t wish injuries on anyone, but have to admit, with all the damn injuries our defense is dealing with - especially in the secondary - it was a little comforting to see The Browns have one of their own now.

he does. it just has to be the first half or outside of the red zone is all. i say he kicks hero ball up a notch and starts throwing for the end zone outside of the opponent’s 20 every time. there might actually be something to this. Think about it. We do WAY better on 3rd and 15+ than 3rd and 2 or less. Allen needs SPACE

yes the Jets game sack and the sack to force 4th and 18 in Vikings game are precisely the “plays we didn’t capitalize on” that I was referring to. it’s a shame , Von made the impact play needed at the perfect time In both instances, but it amounted to nothing. We didn’t knock the ball down on 4th and 18… and we still blew it against the Jets. So we didn’t capitalize. True, but there’s a risk with each alternative option as well. hand it off to RB, we risk getting tackled in the end zone for a safety (and we have had several hand offs blown up for losses this season for the same issue you are referring to re: interior oline) or you toss it laterally / roll out and try a quick dump off to one of the backs which also has risks of its own. In fact, this is what Tua tried to do late in the Miami game from his own end zone and it was Von Miller - ironically- in pursuit and knocked the pass down, forcing Miami to Punt out of their own end zone and nearly choke away the game. one thing I will say is when we made that stop on defense and had to start from our own half yard line I kept thinking “No… This isn’t over yet…” But of all the possible bad scenarios I certainly didn’t imagine a botched exchange.

Yeah this is the stuff I was trying to stop thinking about when I decided to go in another direction 🤣 But as far as this one goes, we can second guess the play call all we want, but I feel like the strategy would’ve worked if we got the snap right, which, you know, is something you SHOULD be able to reasonably expect to happen…. You had Davis lined up behind Allen prepared to push him forward and ensure some kind of advancement of the ball. Each time we have pushed Allen this season, the ball has advanced and not gone backwards, so no reason to think it wouldn’t happen here. Man, I hate this. 🤮

fair enough. My point on his pressers doesn’t even qualify as a “concern” for me, as we have a laundry list of those and MAYBE I was trying to get my mind off of them for just a moment, but yes, it while it may not be a concern, it does bother me to some extent. Wouldn’t say it’s only my opinion though. While it may not be a popular one, others have certainty acknowledged it here and come up with better examples than I had to support my point as well. (Ie the talking up of Mcveigh and “missing” the LA Rams at times). I just feel like, you’re here now, embrace it.

maybe you should have kept going: “look he is a great player and he has come through in some big moments for us. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalize on his last couple timely sacks, though. But, it seems like when he is in press conferences, there is a little too much of “you guys” instead of “us”. No loss seems to bother him (was he like that in Denver too? Not sure) And I’ve never seen a Bills player openly express how much of a FAN he is of the opponent after getting beat, and select players on the opponent’s team.” I specifically gave Von Miller credit for doing his job with timely sacks (that we were unable to capitalize on) the entire thread was about getting sour on Miller’s approach to press conferences. say what you want about that, but at no point did I blame the GAME on him. That would be ridiculous and make no sense at all. the closest thing to that is when i implied he might be an even better player if he was a bit more team oriented, but even then, I took a step back and said hey maybe that is who he has always been, in which case, keep doing you Von. so Yes, you definitely misinterpreted OP
-
well, you misread it then. Simple as that. Wasn’t at all blaming the loss on Von Miller. Not even close.

Considering doing the same thing this week, but it won’t be the first time in a while. last year, after the bye week, we went through this same thing. Except that time the team was healthy so it was even more inexplicable. anyway, I took a week off at one point and thankfully, something changed at halftime against the Bucs, precisely when we couldn’t afford to keep stumbling anymore. I guess this team really has to hit rock bottom to go on a run. I know a lot of us feel like we might be at rock bottom right now, but we are indeed still 6-3, with a much tougher schedule than last year, and it also got worse last year before it got better (weren’t we 7-5 or 7-6?)
-
definitely never implied that he lost the game. In fact, in the OP I mentioned that it was unfortunate we were unable to capitalize on his last couple of timely sacks. My issue is not with his play, at all. But I do wonder if he’d be a better player if he embraced being a Buffalo bill a little more, like many of his teammates seem to. Or maybe, this is who he has always been, and this is what makes him the great player that he is. I’d like to go back to his pressers from Broncos / Rams (particularly the Rams when they went on their 3 game losing streak last year) and find out. And if this is just who he is, and is what made him one of the best players of all time at his position, then more power to him.

And As far as how I feel the day after, it depends on the minute. sometimes it’s wish Knox could’ve caught that TD in OT before the Allen int or wish we didn’t fumble the snap with the game won or wish we didn’t give up another “catch of the year” in a dramatic loss and yet AGAIN failed to “knock it down” or this team isn’t learning from these Heartbreaking losses yeah. Just depends on the minute. Here we are again. Needing Sunday to come and get this taste out of our mouths, but this time, I’m a lot more worried. Yep, even against the Browns.

yeah I get it, probably the result of not getting sleep and having already gone through every thought related to the game itself 10 Times over, my mind wandered. And after watching that presser, all I could think was “man, this is getting old”. For once, I wanted to see some of the sentiment we got from like every other player that interviewed for the Bills after the game. These games aren’t “normal” like he apparently makes them out to be. In this particular case, I wanted to see some kind of frustration, passion, holding guys accountable as you said. Instead of “MAN! I don’t know but I had FUN out there!” Yeah I don’t know man. Lol. I better get some sleep. Oh wait, it’s Monday. Gotta work.

I’d feel better if the AFC East wasn’t good from top to bottom this year. Not sure how we can pull 14-3 out of this remaining schedule and our toughest schedule in years overall, but I do still think we end up with some kind of record that gets us into the playoffs. but let’s start to accept the strong likelihood of playing in Arrowhead again if we are fortunate enough to get to that point, because I really think by the time these playoffs are underway, anyone can beat anyone.
-
I get that he has played for 3 different teams in approximately a one year span, and I get that he has been through every scenario as he constantly reminds us in every press conference, particularly with his endless references to playing for the Rams, where he played for one entire half season + playoffs, but… Does anyone else get the sense from listening to his pressers that he still hasn’t embraced being a member of the Bills TEAM? look he is a great player and he has come through in some big moments for us. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalize on his last couple timely sacks, though. But, it seems like when he is in press conferences, there is a little too much of “you guys” instead of “us”. No loss seems to bother him (was he like that in Denver too? Not sure) And I’ve never seen a Bills player openly express how much of a FAN he is of the opponent after getting beat, and select players on the opponent’s team. You’d think he has played for as many teams as Ryan Fitzpatrick, but in fact, this is only his 3rd team. It is a bit reminiscent of Frank Gore and Emmanuel Sanders when they were here for a year and knew it, and it was reflected in their interviews, but both players were at the ends of their careers and knew it too, and they also had to know they were only in Buffalo for a year. But Miller signed a 6 YEAR DEAL to be a Buffalo Bill, and while most of us probably don’t expect him to play out that entire contract, I think we also expect at least a few years out of it, so I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but the pressers are starting to bug me… I wish I didn’t get the impression that he seems disassociated from the team at times, and more of a neutral Player that is just there for himself and his personal goals. That said, if that’s how he has always been, and if that’s what makes him the player that he is, then alright.. I’m on board I guess? On a side note, I also like his positivity, but sometimes it feels a little misplaced. He preaches games like these being “good medicine” etc. but I can’t help but think that at some point, when we CONTINUE to lose games in the most explicable fashion, are these games really building character and making us stronger? Or is it just causing us to fall deeper and deeper down this hole we are digging, and all we can do as fans is wait and hope for the team to finally and suddenly snap out of it like we did in the second half against the Bucs last year, and never look back. I know this is probably unimportant in the grand scheme of things, and there’s a lot more to be upset about today related to the actual game that was played, but it’s 3AM here, and I’ve already gone through every thought process trying to find a silver lining somewhere so I can move on (That seems to be how I process bills losses) and the last presser I watched was Von’s, so it kinda stuck with me.
-
its incredible how many of us there are man. Lol. If only Norwood made that kick. Maybe I’d be on another teams board right now instead. Heck, maybe I’d be on no message board at all. My local teams were Raiders and Niners. And I never cared much for them or their fans, especially Niners. I’ve developed a respect for the loyal Raider fans over the years and for a long period of time we were able to relate to each other, each going through miserable never ending playoff droughts.

first football game I ever watched in my entire life was wide right. I guess you could say it kind of stuck with me, pulling for the Bills like I did that day and wishing they’d finally pull it off. funny thing is, when I meet other Bills fans that are NOT Buffalo natives, I’m amazed how many of them have similar stories to mine and same approximate age as well. Maybe a lot of out of state Bills fan born in the mid 80s. EDIT- I also vividly remember being in 3rd grade when the Bills lost to Cowboys in the Super Bowl and I was pulling for them by that time. When I went to school the next day, the entire class was ripping on the Bills. Making fun of how badly we were blown out, and it just didn’t sit well with me. That’s when I became a lifer pretty sure

its weird because for the longest time he had that INCREDIBLE stat about 0 or 1 turnovers in the red zone in his career and I think that stat was still valid when this season started. he’s gone from that to having 4 red zone ints in 2 weeks I mean.. what is going on. one of the 50 Things I keep going back to is “I wish Knox was able to secure the TD on the play before” like he did against KC. Allen’s receivers had been making incredible catches for him most of the game
-
Here’s one I’ve been trying to figure out for years. can anyone explain why we even care THIS MUCH!? especially those of us that are out of state fans. i started following this team since wide right (yep) and I think for me the attachment is based on how I view the Bills as the ultimate underdog and I just want the day to come where they finally pull it off. But that’s all I can come up with. I still don’t know why it effects me as much as it does though.
-
You’re not done. You just needed to vent and I get it, that’s what this board is for. I can relate to some of the things you’re saying. I’m 38, have a 5-year-old and days like today I wish I wasn’t so obsessed with the Bills because of how I handle the losses. Hopefully writing that out helped you to some extent. usually for me I go straight to WGR after a tough loss. This week I had no interest. This game was different. I don’t know why all of the insane endings in Bills history (especially as of late) seem to involve us losing.
-
some do. I’m one of them. But when I’m being honest with myself, deep down I know he isn’t, and I also know it’s probably for the better than he doesn’t play. I just remember how miserable I was last year the week after the Bills were on a 2 game losing streak and I guess it’s kind of a defense mechanism for not wanting to feel that way again. I also tried to warm up to the idea of Keenum starting, but when I watch the guy’s highlights, every 5 throws there’s a throw in which I think to myself “Yikes… that one had serious pick-6 potential”. It ain’t gonna be easy to watch him, unless we have one heck of a game plan. This is the biggest test for Dorsey yet imo

On to Minnesota (get this game in the rear view mirror!)
ShakAttack replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is true to some extent, but 3 things remain true. 1. Our injury report has been longer than our opponent’s every week, pretty sure. 2. this is the most adversity we have dealt with injury-wise in probably 4-5 years. For the record, it’s also one of the reasons last years loss against KC was so difficult for me to get over. Even with the Tre White injury, I knew it would be asking a lot for our team to be as healthy as it was in 2021. For instance, this team is 8-0 most likely if Poyer and Hyde were as healthy as last year. 3. In the meantime, KC seems to continue to be as lucky as they always are, injury wise. And when they do have injuries they are short term. As far as the guys on IR, I think our situation would look a lot more promising if Hyde’s injury were short term like we initially thought. He is not as replaceable as a guy like Jamison Crowder, for instance, where even though slot WR is a weakness on this offense, there is reason to believe we can figure something out in the passing game by the time the playoffs start. -
I don't think he plays, not necessarily because he can't, but more because the Bills coaching staffed has erred on the side of caution this season. Granted, this is also a unique case, as it's the most important player on the team and the guy our entire offense is designed around. That said, I agree that missing multiple games doesn't make much sense either. I mean, why would he go from wearing a brace to having his arm merely taped up as it was today if it were 3-4 week injury? 23 of 25 though? 92% from your QB. Willing to bet that's the highest rate in the NFL.
