Maybe one of the "silver linings" here is this defense is no stranger to playing without Milano. He does have a history of missing games unfortunately. And although he was definitely missed, we were still able to hang with our tougher opponents and usually win, as I recall. Same thing can be said for Tre White. We basically haven't had him for 2 years especially when you consider he was a shell of himself last season. Over the past 2 years, we only played with "good" Tre White for 2-3 games. So, I can talk myself into believing we can overcome these injuries, but the problem is it's only Week 5... who is to say there isn't more to come...

I'm hearing AJ Klein time and Dorian Williams time ...why not T-Dot time? He actually played very well after filling in for Milano/Dorian...

Seems like White/Benford were missed the most yesterday, simply because Elam had to start. That was easily the weak link of our defense. Everyone else actually played well for the most part, including the backups. This was actually encouraging for me (even if it sucks that our weak link was a former 1st round pick playing man coverage which was supposedly his thing)

Because when the Chiefs do play the other “good” teams when it matters most, they usually end up winning those games. But the Chiefs also have a lot of other things going for them. Like the fact that they get the calls in critical moments when they need them, like their injuries being of the variety where the players end up returning later in the year and that they have one of the easiest schedules in the AFC (this season). We will probably be waiting another season for Mahomes to play his first EVER away playoff game (incredible)

But there will always be that thought in the back of our minds, that even if we reel off a 6-7 game win streak after this, we are going to be in for a rude awakening when we are up against another top team with a lot of talent, and we lose mainly because we can no longer match their talent. And when this was a huge reason for our undoing last year, the fear feels very justified to many of us. it just flat out sucks to lose a season with Super Bowl aspirations because of - literally - bad luck. There will be more “highs of highs” this season, sure, but even in those moments we will know deep down that the team is deficient in areas that will hurt us when it matters most. I think a big time trade is the only thing that can turn our outlook around in that sense and I hope we explore every avenue to bring in a stud CB/OLB

Von Miller to 53 & Tre White to IR
ShakAttack replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems like the majority of our injured players this season are finishing the games they get injured in. All but tre white if I’m not mistaken. Kinda strange pattern. -
Not gonna lie, PFF made me feel a little better last week when it claimed Tre White's rating thus far this season was something like 63, but in the back of my mind I was also thinking "yeah but they're also full of *****". And not even a week later, we have a reminder of why that is. Smh

Can't help but wonder if Miller's return this week (instead of waiting a little while longer) has anything to do with Groot and the foot injury. Always kinda weird when you have these injuries pop up during week with guys that finished the previous game... but he has been a DNP all week... and now I am wondering if he is going to play at all in London.

Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
ShakAttack replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure if this was updated after today's game, but I did find it interesting that Tre White has actually been targeted more than Benford so far this season. Thought it would be the other way around. White has given up 9 receptions on 14 targets. Benford only 4 catches on 8 targets. So Benford was actually being targeted less than White? Found that interesting. -
Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
ShakAttack replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I get it, because I don't like it either. Today, I felt worse about White as an individual than the future of the Bills. But... I did not come here to "whine" about injuries, but rather, to point out that the quote that was posted by someone else regarding Kansas City Chiefs had some merit, oddly enough, because KC has been relatively fortunate injury-wise, compared to vast majority of the NFL. It is not a complaint; just an observation. The subject has come up at times when I'm talking about football with my buddies (and for the record, I do not live in or near Buffalo, where the KC hatred runs deep, I live on the west coast). When the playoffs come around, they just seem to be relatively healthy in contrast with their opponents, every time I can recall. They may have had some injuries prior to that, but when it matters most, the key players seem to be available. Just an observation. Nothing to do with Buffalo or our misfortune; I definitely never said anything about that in this thread. -
Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
ShakAttack replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
but he PLAYED, right? In the Super Bowl. I am talking about guys that did NOT play. His ankle injury was practically a non-factor anyway due to Chiefs completely dominating at the LOS. Oh, not to mention, didn’t they ice the Cinci game on… a Mahomes scramble? Chris Jones, they had him when it mattered most. He basically played the role that we expected from Von Miller in last season’s playoffs. KC does not get past the Bengals without CJ. I’ll give you Honey Badger, but that’s about it. -
Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
ShakAttack replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
sadly there is some truth to that. It is true the Chiefs never seem to have these devastating injuries. They have injuries during the course of the season but get the players back for the playoffs when it matters most. Nothing worse than a season ending injury, and Chiefs truly do not get a lot of those to key players. -
Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
ShakAttack replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
If our pass rush continues to be among the best in the NFL, it will make the DBs jobs a lot easier, no matter who is back there. Personally, I don't think it's a "devastating blow" to the Bills, necessarily, this defense has been successful without Tre in the past and this is nothing new, but this injury still takes a LOT away from how I would normally feel coming off a big win like this only because I feel terrible for Tre as a person and just having to watch him go through that today. That is what hurts, more than anything else. As far as the defense, yeah they lost something, but it's no it's not "season altering". No team ends up being able to field its "best" defense by the end of the year anyway. We were extremely fortunate injury wise through 3 weeks and something was bound to happen. Just hope this doesn't continue to be a trend. -
I hate that this has to be so bittersweet

the Deonte Harty one, did that too with work, several times 😆 Good thing the pandemic turned me into a remote employee I guess?

I can relate to Siran actually. Been there too. Same reason.

It's Miami week! That means HAIKU
ShakAttack replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
Called An L Week 1 Then W In Week 2 And 3 Think Another L (😔) I know, I know. It's a downer, dislikes coming, I get it. I sincerely hope my "Bills Pick 'Em" streak ends on Week 4, too. Just not liking the matchup. I mean, who does match up well against McDaniel's system and the collective speed on that offense right now anyway? -
76.9% ... Not too shabby ... and to think what it might have been if he didn't start forcing passes halfway through the 3rd quarter against the Jets (read somewhere he was completing 81% prior to the 2nd interception) Anyway, that was pretty cool to see, so I thought I'd share. Hopefully we can keep it up with this style of offense, minus the occasional (and easily avoidable) forced throw into double coverage. I think it also speaks to the absence of dropped passes through 2 games this season. I think Knox is the only player I've seen with a couple drops so far.

Hurts. One year wonder!

Week 2 Bills vs Raiders Home Opener!
ShakAttack replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
In week 1, I expected a Bills loss (but I also thought we would be up against Rodgers). in week 2, it’s one of the rare instances in which I expect a Bills win because I believe we match up well against the Raiders, I believe there will be a positive impact from week 1 and I believe west coast teams very often struggle in east coast games. having said all of that, is anyone else surprised by the fact that we are up to 9.5 point favorites and tied for the heaviest favorites in the NFL this week? You’d think we were coming off a clean win vs Jets and playing the Cardinals. -
What will happen with Josh over the next month?
ShakAttack replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
funny thing is I think that was the plan on the 1st and 10 fumble right after bills took over following jets TD to tie the game. Looked like a designed run, but by that time the sugar high was peaking and he botched the snap, recovered it and lost it again! its just weird how lately when things start to unravel with Allen, the unraveling begins at a time when he is playing well and we actually have control of the game, but then he will keep unraveling until we have inexplicably lost our lead altogether and only THEN end does he seem to snap out of it, -
What will happen with Josh over the next month?
ShakAttack replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's interesting because, from 2018 to 2021 specifically, in Daboll's offense, when Josh had a game where he would make a certain costly mistake, you would generally see him really learn from it and make a point to not letting it happen again in the near future. When we would see these mistakes reoccur, it was usually some weeks later. This is one of the things I loved about him; this was the evidence of his growth that was unlike any QB prospect I had ever seen. The guy LEARNED FROM HIS MISTAKES!!! And he got better and better and better .... But only up until a certain point, and incidentally, that point is around the time that Dorsey took over play-calling. Now, personally I have not ready to blame Dorsey just yet because it really looks like a lot of Allen's mistakes are just reckless personal decisions, but at the same time you can't ignore the fact that this regression started to happen after Daboll left. Is it coincidental? I don't know. I just know earlier in his career, he would rarely make the same mistake twice and now he is. Repeatedly. It's mind boggling because these are CORRECTABLE issues. Often times he will be playing very well for stretches and then just suddenly have a brain fart and make an inexcusable play and the defense is taking full advantage (i.e. he hasn't been getting "breaks" lately in the form of dropped picks or recovering his own fumbles). Now, having said all of this, I still go back to the fact that yesterday in particular was nothing new when it comes to the Jets; they ARE a problem for him and they were a problem for him before yesterday, but with this "new" Josh Allen it's frustrating that even in his "good" games there are ALWAYS 1 or 2 brain fart interceptions. Why can't he just play a FULL game without these few isolated bizarre decisions? because honestly, everything else looked PRETTY GOOD to me! When he was taking what the defense was giving him, he was 9 for 10, moving the chains against a great defense, and it was working! When he threw that first interception, he had 10+ yards of daylight in front of him? Doesn't Josh Allen LOVE to run!?!? The one time we WANT him to run, he doesn't!? MAN, it's almost like he doesn't want to run if it doesn't look like it is going to entail running into traffic and attempting to bicycle kick 2 LBs. It's just infuriating to think about lol..which is why this turned into a rant. Sorry. -
I am honestly surprised by how many fans have given up on Allen after this game. I would never consider myself one of the more optimistic fans. In fact, I had the Bills losing this game (granted, with Rodgers at QB) and it was mainly because of how poorly we match up against the Jets. Matchups are everything in this league. Look at the Browns, who have annihilated the Bengals twice in a row now, but can’t seem to do that to anyone else. Meanwhile the Bengals look like a completely different team against the rest of the NFL. It’s like that for us with the Jets, for whatever reason, but what I am saying is this is actually NOTHING NEW against the Jets. Something about their scheme, their team speed on defense and the fact they are able to generate more pressure than the vast majority of defenses we face has always rattled Allen and forces him into bad decisions. There have also been plenty of games where Allen has made as many bad throws (unfortunately) it just so happens this time all three of his bad throws were picked off as opposed to dropped, batted down, etc. There is no doubt this is becoming a sickening trend, but again, I go back to the fact that all 3 of Allen’s least productive games as a QB dating back to last season, have been against the Jets. This is nothing new and the sky certainly isn’t going to be falling after week 1. I am not sure if I can realistically say , but I am feel pretty confident that he is going to play a hell of a lot better than he did against the Jets in the coming weeks. Here is the silver lining. Allen did seem a little too “chill” to me this off-season, but this game definitely got to him. Hopefully it’s the wake-up call he needed. Also, we still have our starting QB and we didn’t lose anyone to injury in what was a very physical game. That’s a major plus.
