The Autumn Wind is a Raider

Same. My Grandfather had all the VHS tapes. I watched them every time I was at his house. Big part of my childhood. -

The Lesson in the Sabres Horrendous Season
thenorthremembers replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem with trying to get guys who give a damn is those guys want to win. The Sabres are going to have to win with the guys who give a damn already on the roster, and hope to trade guys like Hall and Eichel for other guys. Signing give a damn free agents is going to be a hard sell. -
Are teams trading too many assets to get a QB?
thenorthremembers replied to DefenseWins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely not. You can either go 7-9 and 8-8 every year and miss the playoffs with the assets, or you can give up the assets to attempt and go 13-3 and make the playoffs. If you fail you lose the assets, but the likelihood of failing big enough to be back in the QB sweepstakes is a lot better with a young QB than it is rolling out a veteran. The worst thing you can be in the NFL is middle of the road. -
Do the Bills have "their guy" picked out?
thenorthremembers replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Allen situation was different, they knew they had to get a QB so it grossly limited the number of people they could zero in on. Now they have their franchise QB they just have to get players to make the team better, not necessarily pick for need. That said, at #30 they probably have to limit their expectations of who will be there. I love Travis Etienne, but I dont think he gets there. They most likely have to look at guys like Eric Stokes, Jayson Oweh, Terrance Marshall Jr., Kadarius Toney, Christian Baramore, and Gregory Rousseau. The 49ers trade, especially if they really went up for Mac Jones has made everything a lot more fluid. -
To each his own brother. Watched it a bunch of times and it never gets old.

Sammy Watkins to Ravens
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looked up his career earnings last night, divided by his career catches. Watkins has made 196,000 a catch in the NFL. -
Know this is a popular move, but it doesn't move the needle much for me. Decent player who adds speed to the roster, but I also can see him as a guy who is deactivated on game days. Good level two free agent who could add to the team but its a crowded room especially with Jones on the roster for special teams.

Do WR’s hate Lamar Jackson ?
thenorthremembers replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hate is a strong word, but NFL players for the most part are business savvy. Lamar has a very hard time throwing outside the hash, it's been that way since college and the Ravens aren't forcing him to develop. He is a good football player who is limited as a passer. Its a tight end driven offense, and wideouts wont get the shine if they go there. Agree, with what one of you said above. Hollywood Brown is an incredibly talented wideout who is being wasted there. -
Bills sign DE Efe Obada
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I imagine they got him pretty cheap. Had more sacks than any other DE on our roster last year. Still relatively young, and has upside. I'd say its a decent signing, Carolina or not. -
That tells me two things: A. The Jets havent received a decent offer for Darnold B. The Jets think the combination of Darnold and a rookie is better than what they can get in free agency. There is absolutely no way the Jets dont pick a Quarterback at #2. Darnold will start the year if he can beat out the rookie, and will be a free agent next year.

He'll look great picking off Danny Dimes in practice. Not sure about the regular season when he faces good qbs though. -
Trade down and take Pat Freiermuth
thenorthremembers replied to whorlnut's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not a great draft for pass rushers. Rather them just draft the BPA at 30, and then try to fill needs in later rounds. -
Bills sign TE Jacob Hollister
thenorthremembers replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Really like the move. Watching tape of Allen's junior year Hollister pops big time. I know he hasn't been a superstar since being in the league, but he has decent hands and brings good athleticism with him. He also didnt cost a draft pick. -
Sammy Watkins in Buffalo
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watkins immaturity and lack of effort while he was here is something he admitted himself. It's not my opinion its reality. There are two very well written Tyler Dunne articles about Sammy that outline that he was more interested in partying while he was here than he was playing football. See below. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2749319-sammy-watkins-dropped-the-diva-attitude-and-got-his-career-back-on-track-in-la https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2889029-what-sammy-watkins-believes So yes, I am telling you signing Watkins wouldnt improve the WR roster because improving the roster goes beyond just adding talent. Thankfully our front office understands that well. -
Sammy Watkins in Buffalo
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your opinion on why he may come back Ill leave alone because like you said its your opinion. But he was traded out of here for more than the need for draft picks. The guy wasnt a culture fit. He has proven throughout his career that he is a me first guy. To say he was only traded for the need of draft picks is a discredit to Mcdermott and his staff. They watched the tape and saw he was a loafer who didnt play hard. Its why his immense talent never translated to success. Now for my opinion, he is an immature guy who only plays football for the money. I dont think he loves it. He falls in the category of should have been great but doesnt care enough to be. He has essentially stole money from teams since he has been in the league. He is such a non factor that I can barely recall where he was traded to. I dont think the guy is long for the league.
