NFL proposal to NFLPA

If they cancel the season a lot of older guys that were planning their last Hurrah this year wont get it. Sitting for a year would probably end a lot of careers -
No fans? NYS has apparently released guidelines
steven50 replied to The Firebaugh Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two security guards have been shot to death trying to enforce the mask rule ( Not in WNY) and several business that opened had to close down because employees were being threatened, cursed at, etc. There was a state that had a mandatory mask rule and I saw that Governors press conference when he rescinded it. Apparently some teenage girl at an ice cream stand or something was assaulted and one of the security guards that was shot was in his state as well. He said people should wear the mask but he wasn't going to put people in harms way over it. I am not defending it just saying that is why. -
Retail isn't the only thing hurting. I live off my military pension and my dividends from investing. I keep a very close eye on the market. Plenty of industries are hurting now. Tens of thousands of oil workers are on the street right now and with capacity at nearly 100 percent those people wont be working any time soon. That is from the guy working the rig to the people on the ships to the people that maintain the pipelines and the guys that drive the trucks. Its basically the 1970's steel crises all over again in that industry. Any cruise line not named Carnival could be filling tomorrow, and truth be told Carnival is only surviving due to scale. Auto industry sales are down 38%. Plants are closed or operating at diminished capacity. People without jobs dont go on cruises and they dont buy new cars. Tourism, Sports, Entertainment, Retail, Marketplaces, Restaurants and Fintech are Most Affected by COVID-19 Lockdown https://www.marketwatch.com/press-release/5-industries-most-affected-by-covid-19-lockdown-2020-04-21 People are not taking this seriously and its easy to see why. All of whats going on in these industries should be in the news everyday but pimping fear is easier. Joe average doesn't even know its going on. Anxiety is a very real problem and we will be dealing with the after effects of this for years to come. I do not know of anyone that that has died from covid-19. My son had it and a friend had it. My 30 yr old son didn't even know he had it and my friend was sick for about three days. On the other hand I have a friend whose 20 yr old son has turned into a recluse basically refusing to leave the house except for food. I Know of another guy that was a drug addict, clean and sober for over 12 years that is using again because he has been sitting in house for the last 4 months doing nothing but collect that extra $600 a week. That is not to mention all the people with preexisting health conditions that haven't been able to see a doctor, many of whom have probably been self medicating, or the tens of thousands that will find out they have an incurable cancer or other disease that could have been cured if they could have got that test done back in March or April that they were scheduled for. Heart disease Kills about 650,000 every year and Cancer kills around 600,000 BTW. This is on top of the work from home push that will probably shutter some office buildings and tech complexes across the country. A lot of people are about to have no job to go back to. You can revisit this comment in a couple weeks after that money runs out. I predict sky rocketing crime, double digit unemployment, and higher taxes. and its already starting to happen IMO. Even CNN admits that https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2020/06/26/violent-crime-rising-gingras-nr-vpx.cnn . I hope you get to tell me I was wrong but I dont think so. This is just like the steel plant closings of the 70's only on a national scale.

I dont know why so many people just assume that there will be a cure or a vaccine that will actually work. We have been trying to cure cancer for over 100 years. The first aids/hiv case was reported in June of 1981 and we have no cure. Diabetes, Crohn's disease, Graves disease, Huntington's and a zillion other things that we have been working on have no cure. Even if they do come out with a vaccine how long will it take to make and distribute it to a population over 320 million? Restaurants, stores etc cant keep operating at 1/2 capacity. That is a reality. The airlines are already saying that middle seat stuff is out the window. They just cant operate like that. Everyday it seems like a major employer is going out of business or filing for bankruptcy. Neiman Marcus, J. Crew, Bath & Body Works, Nordstrom etc etc etc. Yesterday it was Chuck E Cheese. You cant turn the economy on and off at will and the fed cant keep printing up fake money or we are going to start to see some good old 1970's style inflation and even more business gone. Our governor has just decreed malls cant open until they have some type of super HEPA filters to clean out the air. Think about that. Can you even imagine what that would cost for just the Walden Galleria? The same malls that haven't been collecting rent for the last 4 months are now supposed to be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars (if not millions) on air filtration systems? This "new normal" we are getting from the state of NY is unsustainable. A lot of people dont have a job to go back to and once that extra $600 from the feds runs out in 4 weeks its going to get hanky real fast around here. I know I go against the grain here but to me at least the bottom line is if I cant hug my kids and grand-kids I am not "living " anyway. I have no intention of spending the last years of my life waving at family and loved ones from the curb. Hiding in my home with curtains drawn and only scurrying out to get supplies is not my idea of life.

So the History argument is only valid if that history happened in what is now a good neighborhood? If its a bad neighborhood we skip ahead? 3. Me and my two adult sons normally watch the game together. I just looked it up: Lanovas Family Pak with Wings $59.99 Bocces 1 Whole Pizza 18.63 One double order of wings $19.82 Avenue Large Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza and Chicken Wings $34.79 With taxes those are all close to $50 dollars. If your ordering those tiny tasteless dominoes or Pizza huts Pizzas your probably in the minority in Buffalo...... and you should be ashamed of yourself. I am retired military, enlisted not officer. I doubt many would think my retirement check was that great. I also live in the city and Lanova's, one of the most expensive Pizza joints in the area is in the City on the west side and they dont seem to be lacking for customers. Also when I drive through riverside, the west side, or any other part of the city in the morning I see lines of cars full of people buying $5 cups of coffee when we all have coffee makers at home. An extra couple of bucks 8 times a year isn't going to break the bank for most people already attending Bills games. This concern about poor city people....... If your concerned you shouldn't be. If the stadium is downtown we wont have to pay to get out to OP and wont have to pay ridiculous parking fees once we get there. Even if they raised ticket prices it would be cheaper for us poor city people to hop the train downtown and walk to the stadium like we we do for Sabres or Bison's games. If they raised ticket prices 25 dollars tomorrow and moved the stadium downtown that is still a net positive gain for me. Just be honest. You want in to stay in OP because your used to it. All these post about "poverty" and "history" is just a coverup for "I am lazy and I am used to this so I dont want it to change" or worse "I live in the burbs and the thought of going in to the city terrifies me" I get it. This is Buffalo, this is what we do. We dont want anything to change. Its one of the reason I came back here instead of retiring in a military town like all my buddies did. I actually love this place and am cursed with thinking the same way. I wish I could go downtown and get one of those big greasy burgers they used to serve at Grants lunch counter. After that I would grab coffee at Your Host and on the weekends I would get taffy and fudge at crystal beach. Woolworth's anyone? "Passengers please buckle your seat belts and prepare for landing. We will be arriving in Buffalo NY shortly. Please set your clocks and watches back 30 years." Times have changed. We have to change with them.

A few points I would like to make. Just my 2 cents. There will be a new stadium and it will probably be a covered stadium. If your a die hard snow fan you can grumble all you want but they know your still going to the game. They have already started with the catered tailgating. Your just gonna have to be a little more civilized. The days of table slamming your drunk buddy in the parking lot are coming to an end. In the same vein, more people will come because its in a climate controlled environment then will stop coming because they can no longer get their picture taken in the snow with their shirt off while guzzling a beer. Saying "we are buffalo we cant afford higher ticket prices" is just ridiculous. According to this article: The average price is $94. Jack that up 50% to $150 and all you did was order Pizza and wings from La nova. Its 8 games a year people. I order Pizza and wings more then 8 times a year. I bet most people attending Bills games do too. Some of you guys carry this poverty thing way to far. ......and finally I really dont understand this sentiment some people have with Orchard Park. It isn't Lambeu field, the Bills where not born in Orchard park. Why dont I ever see anyone saying the bills should be at the old War Memorial site? That is the place were Daryle Lamonica, Cookie Gilchrist. Jack Kemp, Elbert Dubenion and Paul Maguire won AFL championships in 1964 and 1965. If its all about being a purist and history then that is the place you should want the stadium. It isn't a question of "if"they build a new stadium its when.

Is Tre White worth top corner money?

Is Tre White worth top corner money? In the army we would have replied to that with another question: is a pigs Pu*** pork? In other words, "yes" -
Playoff #1 Bills @ Texans PostGame Thread
steven50 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bottom line is you dont win NFL games in the modern era scoring 1 touchdown. A lot of people will predictably blame this or that player or this or that play but the truth is we dont dial up a quick strike throws when needed and plays called require way to much time to develop at critical junctures of the game. JJ watt is a great player. JJ watt is going to get your quarterback if you play against him. I dont care who your tackle is your not going to keep him contained all game. The way to minimize that is to stop calling plays that take all afternoon to develop. Pound for pound with the talent we have on the team we should have won today. Offensive coaching let us down. I for one will not be shedding any tears if Brian Daboll lands a spot coaching another team next year. -

Russ Salvatore letter to the editor in 2018
steven50 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hate to bust your bubble by Russ Salvatore isnt a boomer. He was born in 1933 -
I want trying to dampen the mood, I just didn't see him on the field much if at all after the interception.
-
Starting to be a concern for me. He had 1 or 2 last week. 1 for sure drop this week and the interception seemed to bounce off his hands so that might make 6 or 7 on the year. Not sure but I dont think I saw him on the field after the interception. Did anyone notice if they benched him or restrict his playing time after that?

I can't help but feel a little bad for Kyle Williams.
steven50 replied to warrior9's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was just about to post this. He was a solid trooper for many years and doesn't get the love he deserves. I dont think I have seen him in any commercials or local radio stations since he left. -
I could see your point if he looked like he was taking it seriously but it looks to me like he is just playing around and having fun. I really dont see why that would bother anyone.
-
Seriously? Because he has a sneaker line? Because he is old he should always wear dress shoes???? Am I missing something here??
-
Why are you saying he is pretend to be young and hip? I mean its not like he is wearing a backwards hat with his pants down showing off his underwear. He is just doing the old guy snoopy dance and fist bumping Bon Jovi (who is 56 BTW so no spring chicken either). Looks like he is just having fun to me.

Superdome Renovations $450 Million
steven50 replied to KellyToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These roads aren't that kind of gravel they are gravel because the road itself is so destroyed rocks and gravel is all that is left. One of the other posters commented that is because of NOLA being under sea level and in fact that is what one of the local told me was the reason for the crumbling roads. Whatever the reason its the worst I have ever seen and I was military for 20 years and have traveled all over the world. I had a really good time there. I am not knocking the place but the roads are crazy bad. -

Just in NOLA a week ago. Pretty shocked at the state of their roads, way worse then Buffalo even after a heavy winter, some of the side streets were nothing but gravel -

New Stadium Talk as of owner’s meetings
steven50 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hold on there sparky, I am "older". When I was a kid they played at the rock pile. I have no special attachment to the Orchard Park stadium. Downtown and covered (Roof, dome I dont care). For everyone that says they would go to less indoor games because that isn't real football I can point to 5 other people who dont go now because of the weather. I used to love being at the games in the 20 degree temperatures...... After passing the big five zero not so much.
