  1. I think they disdain is for football. They both positively glow when talking about hockey even when the sabres suck. The problem is they are both Hockey guys and don't seem to know much about any other sport.
  2. Apologies if this was already posted. Very good all 22 on Guard Wyatt Teller playing along the line in the bears game. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2018/11/7/18070460/all-22-analysis-guard-wyatt-teller-buffalo-bills-rookie-seeing-playing-field
  3. The defense has looked good so I will focus my comments on the offense: I want to see Josh Allen, Jason Croom , Zay Jones, and Marcus Murphy continue to play and improve. I want them to get the bulk of the reps at their positions. lets see if they are the future. I want to see if Terrell Pryor has a future with the Bills beyond this disaster of a season. I want our young backups and rookies, particularly on the Offensive line to start and improve. I want to see the FO and the coaching staff treat the rest of the season like it is preseason. Get the young guys out there and see what they got. If they can do that then at least something good will come of this season. Unlike a lot of posters I am not enraged about what is going on. I expected suckage (albeit not this much suckage) but I will not tolerate another season of "we are young blah blah" get the kids on the field now so we don't have to suffer through it next year. This season is shot anyway. Free agency can plug the O-line and should land us good/decent receiver. Coupled with a decent draft there should be no more of the "growing" rebuilding" etc excuses
  4. I only watched the 2nd half but Brady looked slow and his deep ball seems to be gone. I don't know how much Edelman will have an impact. The guy is 32 and returning from an ACL injury.
  5. I never thought we should have gotten rid of of Fitz or Hogan, and I still dont. I think we would have ended the drought sooner if we would have kept Fitz but I wasn't crazy enough to think we would have won a Superbowl with him. Hogan while not spectacular was reliable. I admit to being guilty on Woods and Goodwin though. It seemed like one or the other was out every game the last year they where here.
  6. Newspaper "columnist" are a thing of the past. 10 years from now your going to be able to count on one hand how many people get paid big coin for an opinion in ANY local newspaper. Pittsburgh doesn't even have a daily news anymore. http://thehill.com/homenews/media/403746-pittsburgh-becomes-largest-us-city-without-a-daily-print-newspaper More cities to follow. It was inevitable that these guys where going to loose their jobs it was just a matter of when. Any reasonable intelligent articulate writer on this board can start a blog, drop 5 bucks a day on a google or facebook add and by the end of the year they will have amassed at least a thousand regular readers. The old guard that got big contracts and big pay are mostly going to get squeezed out by the end of the decade. The internet has made "columnist" a dime a dozen and with so many people doing it through blogs, e zines, and websites, your opinion would have to be really super special to make it worth while for anyone to pay you big bucks for it. The BN decided to get rid of the people they where paying the big bucks. I would bet good money the people they have now that replaced the old guard aren't making half as much and at the end of the day it doesn't matter to the average reader.
  7. The lack of discipline was appalling. Having Petermen come out slinging the ball in the driving rain was a head scratching decision. The best player on our team touched the ball only 7 times all game. You don't have running back by committee when you have LeSean McCoy on your team! The Players didn't seem focused at all and some of that I attribute to the constant switching around of personnel. They need time to work together, pick a line up and stick with it for more then 2 days. Deciding who is going to start on game day and splitting reps all week leads to confusion and half trained starters. The front office cooked up this disaster by getting people like Chris Ivory and ignoring the wide receiver corps except for picking up someone they could get with a pack of bubble gum. Does anyone have the number of drops today? I haven't seen that many drops in little league games. Like many fans I think this game spent just a ton of the good will I had for this administration. I trusted the process and believed the coaches and front office knew things I didn't but holy cow that was epic. 2nd biggest loss in franchise history and it could have gotten worse if Baltimore would have kept the starters in. I honestly didn't expect them to win but I also didn't expect them to look like Buff State playing the defending Super Bowl Champions.
  8. Count me in the not so much an NFL fan anymore. I never miss a Bills game but the days of me running to the TV to watch any NFL team play are over. The game barely resembles the one I watched growing up, the pregame show is full of politics and the players seem to swap teams year to year, ESPN and even our local radio are all either 30% about politics, players acting out in their personal life or people trying to outshout each other. I am still a diehard Bills fan but unless the other teams playing have some kind of implication on our playoff spot or something I am not going out of my way to watch.
  9. 100% agree. Comparing quarterbacks now to quarterbacks in the past is impossible. The rule changes have been very slanted towards the offense and blowing on a QB hard now will get you a flag.
  10. I see a top 10 D this year. The offense I am not so sure about. But I think our D will be good
  11. When I was in the Army I was stationed all over the country. When I was in Georgia the Atlanta Constitution wasn't constantly quoting a guy in Chicago about what was happening with the Falcons, at least not when I was there. In sports I think a lot of it stems from the fact that they are all so negative, all the time. Right or wrong when you are constantly saying nothing but bad things about the team and the players you are not going to establish any relationships with agents, staff, or team members and you will always be on the outside looking in. In the past I have seen lots of articles in the news that should have had some kind of followup but never did unless the story become a national story like the teachers cosmetic surgery thing or the doctor running over the girl on the skateboard. The rest of the stuff is just taken off blotter reports with no real journalism follow up to it. When I was working security I got the news everyday. I remember they had a story once about some poor girl that was basically held as a sex slave for years. No followup stories at all. What happened to the girl? Is she ok? What happened to the family etc? No national media picked it up so TBN just dropped it. Covering local things and following through on those stories is what local papers used to do. Now they want to try to be Fox/MSNBC/CNN/USA Today light. I think a lot of them could survive if they remembered who and what they are. A source of information about local happenings. That is something no blogger or national media outlet can do.
  12. I think there is more to it then that. The Buffalo News has become less and less "Buffalo" every year for the last 15 years. I think there is still value a local newspaper can have covering local things. Sports is a great example. When was the last time the Bills or Sabres had a major trade or event and the story was broke by the Buffalo News or even WGR? Our local reporters are always reporting what someone else has said has happened with the teams. When the Russ Brandon stuff broke I was listening to our local guys try to get confirmation about what was going on with the team two miles from there home from a guy in another state. That is crazy. The news isn't really news anymore it is just regurgitated stuff from the NY times and opinion pieces. If they actually covered real local things then I would still be reading.
  13. You guys don't get it, or just refuse to get it. Unless you live in California you can be fired for just about anything that is not protected by the government like race religion etc. If you tell your employer you voted for Trump and he doesn't like it he can fire you. If you come to work with an Obama bumper sticker on your car, he can fire you. I have seen both of these in the news and the employee can do Jack about it. This isn't Europe. If he chose to not stand for the anthem because he just didn't feel like it, He could still be fired. That said, he wasn't fired he basically quit (opted out of his contract) and you cant force someone to hire you just because you think you are better then someone else they have employed. No court is going to open that can of worms and have lawsuits filed all over the country demanding that the courts be the arbitrator of who is or isn't worthy of a job. He has zero chance of winning this thing. Its not murky, its not hazy, it is not a slippery slope. ZERO CHANCE
  14. Your right. We should lock up every college who gets drunk and does something stupid and not only lock up but throw away the key if a young guy is drunk and breaks a window. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE that is stronger then you and me deserves 20 years in prison for what they MIGHT do. Lets forget about what they did, lets throw them in jail for what MIGHT happen. Apparently California law requires "malice," the intent to do a wrongful act with intent to annoy or injure someone else. So being stupid isn't enough to get you put in jail. Everything else is civil not criminal
  15. wow some of you guys are really taking this way to far. In my younger days in the army we got in to fights, sometimes those fights happened in public, sometimes things got broke. None of us did Jail time for it. What normally happened was you paid for what you broke, apologized profusely, promised never to act like an idiot again and they slapped you on the wrist. It isn't like he hurt anyone but himself. College kids get drunk and tear **** up all the time without ending up in jail as long as they pay for what they broke. Young men do dumb ****. Its as simple as that. He might have been trying some exotic drug or someone might of though it would be funny to slip something in his drink. None of us know why it happened.
  16. All this speculation is fun I guess but if Giants take a QB (and with Eli's age they should) then that is three that will be off the board regardless of what the bills do. The odds that whomever is left is the Bills guy is slim to none.
  17. I really don't care what he was saying two weeks ago. I listened when the great tank was going on and he was going right along with schoop. I also remember one episode when he was talking about how he was explaining it to his kid, How losing on purpose is a good thing. I am a LL coach and I am sorry but that is not the lesson I want kids to learn. Sports should be about being competitive not about rolling over. Your view may be different and your welcome to it. In hindsight they all say sing a different tune then they did in 2013 and 2014.
  18. I really don't care for Schopp and the Bulldog, the only position in football they ever talk about is QB. I cant see the whole field during a game, I don't need endless recaps of what I saw on TV. I want to know if receivers are open that I don't see and what linemen are blowing assignments etc. They were also the pied pipers and lead cheerleaders of the great tank in hockey. I don't think it takes 5 yrs of unwatchable hockey to finish in last place again, so ya I thought all that tank crap was stupid.
  19. Tyrod spends way to much tim patting the ball and waiting for that perfect pass. Sometimes you have to trust your recievers to make a play
