  1. I've thought over the first 2 games the run game was extremely vanilla. even vs the jets I thought it was predictable..... I think his run philosophy is based off having an offense that can threaten through the air to loosen up the ground game. ...... and its pretty evident this pass offense isn't gonna loosen anything up for anyone.
  2. Johnson basically had the ability to do whatever the hell he wanted... such a shame he was stuck in Houston on a bad team most of those years. never got anything close to the credit he deserved.
  3. I was there and I didn't really notice it until you pointed it out in your initial post. definitely just 60,000 people basically racing to their cars to get out of there and get home.... very business trip like. for me though it had more to do with the fact that we played what looks to be an awful team. I went in knowing there wasn't really much they could do while beating them that would get me all too excited.
  4. I cant believe people are losing so much sleep over gillislee... really like the guy. real nice backup. didn't do anything last night that was overly impressive. you don't think the pats could have found 10-15 other guys to fill that role? he had 3 td's from inside the 2. are we really losing our minds over that? why? we've got McCoy, and apparently enough confidence in the rest of the crew to let Williams walk after an impressive preseason. Tolbert could very easily do EXACTLY what td mike did last night. I don't get the uproar. its a waste of energy
  5. right.... how many times did they mention brady completing less than 50% of his passes? nooooo that couldn't have anything to do with the loss. gotta be the ONE injured player on D.
  6. i was much more annoyed about how the narrative changed at the beginning of the 4th quarter from collinsworth riding the pats D*** the whole time to him making excuses for the defense just becuz hightower went down. good lord it was all he talked about. dude...... injuries happen. get over it. basically all we heard about the whole 4th quarter from the booth was how the defense was giving up 42 points becuz of one freaking LB going down. it was ridiculous. it couldn't just be becuz brady played like crap and the defense was getting gashed. nope. they were getting beat becuz a linebacker went down. good lord.
  7. you're 100% right. no excuses for it. it was bad..... but people overreacting about preseason week 2, as if its the indicator of how the season will go, look really really silly.... could we not hang our arguments for either side of the fence on week 2 of the preseason? good lord people.
  8. it sucked. it was a bit worrisome. but i feel like we know what tyrod is at this point. its not what was on display last night. its most definitely not anything great, but its just not as bad as last night either. if the defense actually is improving like it seems to be and tyrod shows up week 1 as the guy he's been the first 2 years i think they have a real shot at winning more than they lose. and then you still have enough ammo with current and future picks to go get the qb you want for a winning squad..... thats exciting to me. even with a history of going to bat for tyrod, i cant pretend like the thought of peterman getting time with the 1's wouldnt intrigue me.
  9. I may be picking nits here but I think you coulda picked way better examples for teams that havnt won with great wr's..... while these guys havnt won titles think back to some of the reasons for their teams success.... think back to any cards playoff win and then look at how fitz performed. the guy is unreal in big games. I don't think it can be debated that jones is one of the main reasons the falcons were in the title game. heck the guy even made an unreal catch in that superbowl that should have sealed up the game at the time. to use those 2 names as the argument for "unimportant" may not have been the best choice. i'm not even disagreeing that wr's aren't all that important. but its pretty obvious those 2 have been MAJOR parts of any success those teams have had recently. each team was within minutes/seconds of a title becuz of them.
  10. nelson started all 16 games last year..... and using one of the best of all time for your argument isnt the best example I don't think. nobody is expecting taylor to be that good but its pretty well known as long as he has his starters in there he can be a real solid qb.
  11. i don't have issues with people liking the trade..... but I find it absolutely absurd that people are fooling themselves into thinking there isn't any drop off in the immediate future. Matthews/gaines = Watkins/darby??? you gotta be freaking kidding me. open your freaking eyes.
  12. i totally agree. i dont think anyone is expecting him to do it again. i think that would honestly surprise me more than if some other guy rose up and had a probowl season.
  13. It literally wouldn't surprise me one bit if the fins fell back down to 6-10 or 7-9 this year. in fact i'd put money on that before I would that they make the playoffs a 2nd straight year.
  14. i'm dumbfounded at how much love that team is getting going into this year. if i'm not mistaken they were ranked in the 20's in both total offense and defense. you aren't stringing multiple winning seasons together with those sort of numbers.... #3 on this list? seriously? ajayi got 50% of his yds in 3 freakin games and is anyone other than landry really scaring anyone on that team? COME ON.
  15. this year will be my first season opener experience. been to 15-20 games over the last decade but never a season opener. and you sum it up wonderfully. the air seems more crisp and clear, there is a weird accoustic buzz surrounding the whole area. i think a lot of that has to do with the setting and non-urban feel that other stadiums cant offer. growing up on a farm in the stix it really suits my taste well. it has that "field party" feel to it with football mixed in..... chugging liquor out of girls butt cracks is always a plus too i guess. so there's that. and i just got chills.....
  16. he's been consistent alright.... consistently middling and underwhelming. did anyone actually think that was a good deal back when it happened? hell, i even think ozzie was wincing at the thought of it when it was getting done. like "ah crap, this guy just messed around and got us a title. now we gotta pay him"... excluding a 4 game stretch in 2012 the guy has been average to slightly above for his whole career. downright bad at points.
  17. Denver would have gotten in over us. they had to lose week 17 if we won out.
  18. had we won out we still would not have made it.... we would have needed the broncos to lose to the raiders week 17. everything else played out the way it needed to though.
  19. dennison was at the helm of the offense in houston that saw foster and johnson routinely have big/huge seasons. so i'm not worried about him having trouble utilizing the talent he has on this team like electric company hints towards. not to mention what dneveu just stated.... two 1,000 yd receivers in denver last year with average qb play. dennison has a fairly solid track record. and as far as watkin goes? he obviously has a ton to prove but i would also argue from the small sample size of him being healthy that he's arguably one of the best at tracking down those deep ones. i also think its absurd to think he's all of a sudden lost the ability to make hay in the short passing game. it was a HUGE part of his game in college and part of what made him an elite prospect.
  20. have been saying all offseason this coach is gonna be the wild card that nobody has been talking about..... he coached up what was arguably a top 3 d-line over the last 2-3 years for the ram and if you watch any of his hard knock clips he will make you wanna get up off your couch and go to friggin war! if this guy can light a fire under 99's butt..... game on baby!!!!
  21. totally agree. i used the same philosophy with bell last year and it worked out great.... i took him 4th(he slipped becuz people were scared off) and then i just went about drafting rb's and wr's and just pulled the trigger on williams early. i wanna say it was the 6th round. worked out great. i would do the exact same thing in this situation.
  22. for me i wouldnt change where i would pick elliot. i'd just pick up whomever wins the battle between mcfadden and morris a bit earlier than expected as his handcuff.... either will fill in and get borderline top 10 production i think. DMC was a top 5 rusher in the league behind that line 2 years ago.
