Bears CB Jaylon Johnson Requests to be Traded
SCBills replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's .. fine. I agree. Wallace would give us reliable depth to play at a similar level to Jackson in our scheme. It doesn't move the needle, but helps prevent it from dropping any further. -

We will need picks, but yea.. 10 is overkill. Offense looks pretty much set, but will likely need a WR early in the draft to replace Gabe. Defense might look a whole lot different.. Linebacker is set with Bernard, Milano and 2nd year Williams, but as we sit here today.. only Von, Rousseau, Oliver, Benford, Johnson & Poyer are under contract. -

Bills interest in Jaylon Johnson is 100% legit and has been reported by both national and local reporters. That's all I've heard in relation to Bills verified interest in anyone. -

Yea.. Beane has been pretty good at drafting, and with the emergence of Terrell Bernard, AJ Epenesa and Spencer Brown, the Day 2 stuff is blown out of proportion. My biggest issue with his drafting, and this may change as the need for immediate impact begins to outweigh potential, is that some of these guys take too long to become a factor for us as we spend too much of their rookie contract waiting on them to pop. -

49ers seem to be overkill on defense. If i'm them, i'm working the phones for offense because Purdy has shown that he needs everything around him to be elite. -

I mean... we'll probably be in line for another comp pick 3rd next year with Gabe and/or AJ potentially leaving. If they want two of them, I'm not giving them 2nd's, but I'll give them two 3rd's if they're one this year and one next. -

The thought did cross my mind of Buffalo moving AJ and then adding on the DL to replace him, but I think that's way too many moving parts and the Bills are typically pretty loyal to their guys. -
1) Adams, if he’s available 2) Jaylon Johnson 3) Billings or Suh 4) Linebacker If we go defense, I’d hope it’s a two-part move.. say a trade for Johnson & signing Suh. We’re either going to have to light people up on offense or fix the defense to a level that they are a Top 8 unit again. That would take more than one trade/signing.

NFL does a great job with almost everything publicity wise, but their trade deadline is typically the lamest thing ever. (Joe Buck) “Hey Adam, can tell us what happening with this trade deadline that we’re trying to hype up for the network!? (Adam Schefter) ”Nothing”

I would assume a trade for him would include assurances between Beane and his agent that the parameters of a deal could be worked out long term. He’s been open to signing with Chicago and it hasn’t come to fruition. I’m sure there’s an idea of what he’s looking for and whether or not we could make that happen. -
Good. I wasn’t mentally prepared for Buffalo trading for Antonio Gibson or some other nonsense RB move before the deadline.
-
I'm probably rooting for KC tbh. Miami hasn't shown they can beat the top teams, but they look like they'll steamroll everyone else. If they keep Tua upright, I don't necessarily see a bunch of losses on their schedule.

Jaylon Johnson moves the needle for me, if we're truly in on him and not just kicking the tires. 1) He would be a massive get for this year 2) Would signal another piece to the youth movement on defense, with our secondary built around Jaylon Johnson & Christian Benford. Backload his new contract for when Von and co. come off the books and let's go

Frustrating.. Bernard looking overwhelmed his rookie year and playing like a legitimate pro-bowl caliber player in Year 2 absolves them a bit, but a RD3 pick should be sufficient depth at any non-QB position. The fact the can't/won't play Dorian Williams is very annoying. The guy taken one pick before him was set to start at LB for Dallas before he suffered a season ending injury in pre-season.
-
I have to disagree. Based on options to play the position, sure.. but OLB is a far less important position to a modern NFL defense than DT or CB.
-
I agree. Their actions surrounding Kaiir Elam almost seem to guarantee that we'll do something... and I don't think that's simply trading away Elam for a pick and rolling with Josh Norman as our outside CB depth.
-
No one that I'm aware of.. but their Offense hasn't been able to do much, puts them in tough positions and hasn't really allowed them to play from ahead. I'm sure that has affected the attacking nature of their defensive philosophy, but still.. that's the most talented defense in the league on paper and they've been shredded two weeks in a row.
-
I'm not, at all, cool with this view. Floyd, Oliver, Rousseau Bernard, Johnson Hyde, Poyer They have multiple above average players at every level. No, we don't have an elite defense like we did with Jones, Milano and White.. but it's middle of the pack. Equivalent to other contending defenses like the Chiefs, Jaguars, Dolphins, Ravens etc..
-
We’ve already felt that. Mac Jones carved us up. We’re going to give up points. We need the offense to be back… and not “oh hey, they looked good early and then faded” back. That being said, we need our Defense to make a few plays/get a few stops. They didn’t look capable of that last year. The reason McDermott took over is so that they are capable .. and going from Top 2 talent Defense to Middle of the Pack Defense isn’t an excuse to not get a few stops/make a few plays, so that we can win if the Offense is truly starting to figure it out again.
-
I think it’s about coaching, and I’m not going to give McDermott the injury excuse all year. We still have middle of the pack talent on defense and he needs to put them in positions to succeed Sunday Night. He did that against a less talented offense in Tampa. Sometimes they did, and sometimes, flukeyness aside, they didnt. I feel immediately better about our chances without whatever that Frazier-led defense we saw last year was.
