Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?
SCBills replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Id rather let Shakir and Benford walk, but I get what you’re saying. I just think a dominant DL is so much more important than a good, not great slot or good, not great corner. I also trust us to find another Shakir and Benford. Coleman might even be better suited to play inside if he can’t develop his route running and contested catch ability. -

I highly doubt we’re getting both Garrett and DK… But if we gave up a 2nd and 4th for DK and then packaged a 1, 2 and next years 1 for Garrett, we’d have that Rams Draft from years ago when we don’t get on the board until Day 3. IF we knew we had that locked down, I’d move Cook for a Day 2 pick to use on a DT. I’d wait on any contract negotiations until after the season, with the hope Rousseau is a monster with a 1A across him… extend him. Let Benford walk and see where we land on negotiations with Shakir/Bernard. Thats a team built to dominate this coming year before they have to revamp their linebackers & secondary minus our RD1 pick. Load up on DB’s and LB’s on Day 3 and get them ready for ‘27. -
I’d trade Cook for a 2nd Round Pick asap, if it’s offered. If we’re being offered a 3rd.. it’s tough.. On one hand, we could use him next year and get a comp pick for him the following year. On the other hand, he knows that and may not want to play without a contract. I’d probably pull the trigger on a middle 3rd tbh. Our biggest focus this offseason needs to be fixing the Defense and finding Josh reliable down the field threats to open things up for our slot guys and tight ends. Our running game engine is JA’s dual threat ability and our OL.. We relied on Davis for one game and he was a star…

Shakir, Benford, Cook and Bernard: Who Gets a Contract Extension?

Just saying — Bills paying Benford 20M+ while the Chiefs let guys like Ward and Snead walk and keep getting to Super Bowls wouldn’t be lost on me… -
Shakir, Benford, Cook and Bernard: Who Gets a Contract Extension?

Bernard & Cook are the only players I’m comfortable with at that AAV. Dont love Bernard, mainly due to his size and fact he gets banged up a lot, but at that AAV, with Milano likely only here another year or two, I’m good with it. Good player, just small. Dont really know what to make of Shakir’s valuation. Hes very good but also very limited in terms of vertical ability. Benford for me is a no. He’s good, not great and has been hurt every postseason he’s been a pro. I think Buffalo will extend him, but at that number, I wouldn’t. -
Oh, ok…

I amended my post to acknowledge that My issue with him is that he’s a RB acting this way, wanting this money, while we currently have zero outside weapons that scare anyone and a huge talent deficit on Defense So, for me, the solution to our KC problem cannot be paying big money to a RB and 3 defenders currently on that talent devoid defense (Rousseau, Bernard, Benford) Pay those 4 and we just continue down this path unless Beane starts hitting grand slams in the Draft.

We’re not “anti-diva” Were anti-diva with a guy like Diggs who never stepped up when it matters and we’re anti-diva with a Running Back that’s not even a 3 down back, let alone on the level of Saquan or Henry. We’re sick of paying good, not great, players and then those players never step up when it matters. Cook did, but he’s a RB and we currently have zero outside weapons that scare anyone .. that’s of far more importance We can’t just keep paying guys at non-premium positions and good/not great guys at premium positions big money and then expect to overtake KC in the AFC

Lectures on programming Finishes point by saying he’s opposed to giving Elon more money What money is he getting by doing this? Thats simply a Dem talking point not based in reality. Im sure you’ll counter with some nonsense about SpaceX or Tesla, but that’s unrelated to what we discussing. Its actually a good thing to be transparent about our tax dollars and then cut waste. What a bizarre hill to die on…

And here you are, right on cue. This is taxpayer money. Imagine a government that is transparent about where our money goes.. And you’re free to be in favor of these expenditures. Most of us aren’t.

Dems going all in on attacking DOGE is wild. Cant wait to see them line up behind “large scale social deception” payments to Reuters.

First thing that comes to mind is he knows we can’t/won’t pay him 15M per year but has an idea that he’s worth that to other teams around the league. Doesn’t want to play on the last year of his rookie deal without a long term deal, so is pushing the envelope to get moved to someone who will pay him. Because he has to know this isn’t how anyone has really handled negotiations on this team, under this front office. I can’t imagine Beane loves this.. but part of me now thinks Cook wants out because he wants long term security this offseason.. and at his price point.

It’s not that simple. What brings us closer to getting over the hump? 15M for James Cook or putting that 15M towards Rousseau’s 20M contract or another piece on the DL to go with a Maxx Crosby? Cook is really good and can probably bring us back a Day 2 pick that could be used on a DT or WR.. two positions far more impactful than RB. We leaned on Cook at times because we had nothing outside. Keon went into witness protection after getting hurt, Hollins is what he is and Cooper we now know was playing at 60%. A massively upgraded Defense along with O-Weapons that knock teams out of 1 high Safety would be far more productive (imo) than sacrificing a DL piece or WR via Draft we could get back for him and, say, Jevon Holland with his money. It’s more about asset allocation than how good James Cook is or isn’t.
-
Yes, that's the model. The problem is none of these players, except maybe Cook, are game changers. And Cook immediately torpedoes his value to us by wanting to get paid 15M per. And we pay guys like Knox, Milano and Oliver as game changers and none of them are. Is Bernard a game changer? No, he's a good player. Is Benford a game changer? No, he's a good player. Is Shakir a game changer? No, he's a good player. Is Rousseau a game changer? No, he's a good player. And part of the reason we can't get over the hump is due to tying up so much money and draft assets in good, not great, players.

Democrats are cooked if Jasmine Crockett remains a leading voice of their party. Absolute joke of a Congresswoman.
