  1. I mean this has been pretty obvious since the day he was drafted. It was always well known he was raw & a project QB, and the coaches knew this. It seems only the fans let themselves get too carried away with the idea, not the coaches. He was considered the "riskiest" QB in the draft for a reason, so to expect him to come out & overcome every issue he's ever had & definitely cruise away with the QB competition was putting unnecessary pressure on the guy. Let him learn, gain experience mentally & physically in practice, and develop & mature alongside his teammates in this system. We already broke the drought. Time to kick rebuilding into full gear for once and build a team that can last for a decade or more. And people had the nerve to say the offensive line wasn't that big an issue... Coincidentally, I'm watching The Office right now
  2. The board has been filled with those people. After losing Glenn, Incognito, and Woods, you'd think people would automatically realize that we were going to regress significantly... But no, countless excuses & willfully ignorant posts always counter any discussion of the O-line issue, as people have convinced themselves that Josh Allen is just so good, the O-line won't even matter. As amazing as it was to break the playoff drought last season, most of the board members get pissy if you even suggest that we're not going to repeat this year, or mentioning that Josh Allen hasn't suddenly overcome the huge issues he's had his entire playing career in a handful of preseason games against backups & one month of camp.... You can't WISH the Bills into success, no matter how much you want. And just because you want to see the shiny new 1st round QB so bad, that's no reason to rush him out there to get destroyed. The Bills do not have a very good track record of developing QB's, nor do the fans have a good track record of supporting these guys for long. We send them into the meat grinder, spit em out the other side, call it a day & move on to the next one. Let's not risk ruining a potentially good thing with Allen unless we absolutely NEED him to play.
  3. Exactly. Some of us just want the best possible outcome, and not see coaches double down on stupidity instead of making the right call just to protect their egos. Peterman has shown he's capable of handling himself in this offense, and even more importantly, SURVIVING behind our pathetic O-line. People seem to forget some key aspects of Allen before the draft even happen: He was the most raw and undeveloped QB of the "Big 4" (Mayfield, Rosen, Allen, Darnold) while also having his draft stock skyrocket based solely on POTENTIAL and LONGTERM development (hence the term "project" QB). His pros were his size, arm and athleticism....RARELY are those signs of a day-1 NFL starter. And when it comes to past performances, Allen had proven the absolute least. Through HS & College he's been the same person. He didn't throw a ton of TD's, he wasn't very accurate, he didn't "will" his team to victory time after time, he didn't rise up in big games, he didn't do well against good competition, he regressed his senior year statistically, he wasn't known for his ability to read a defense.... The guy has the tools, but he doesn't have the development to go with them. He CAN be molded into a great player, but why are we pretending he is someone different than who we drafted? How is he suddenly supposed to play better than he has in his entire life by playing against much stronger, faster, and more experienced competition? Because he's playing WITH our #1's? That would make sense if he was on some loaded roster, but he's not... It's like he's playing with the NFL's version of Wyoming-level talent while playing against the NFL's version of SEC defenses. Our O-line is going to get him crushed.
  4. Awful. Clearly completion percentage doesn't matter. Nor do TD passes (as those are also completions). And being able to keep drives alive behind our crappy O-line? Not important...What's important is arm strength, and arm strength alone! As long as he can make a ridiculously hard pass once or twice a game, we can all say "oooooh, aaaaahhh" & be satisfied in our losses. At least that's the mindset I've noticed the past several weeks on here.
  5. A D-minded coach that went into his first draft hellbent on acquiring picks for a QB of the future, then spent the rest of the season making cap room, acquiring more picks, and setting up the franchise for that QB... Then went into his 2nd off season focused on doing what it takes to trade up, again to draft a QB... Then, upon trading away our LT for a high pick, realizing "oh, our 2 other BEST O-linemen just left....now we have more holes....what have I been preparring for again? Oh right, a rookie QB. What does a rookie QB need? Protection? Ehhhh.....f*** it. Let's spend more picks on defense!" NOBODY is saying "ALL" needs to get done in one offseason, but surely, you're not stupid enough to think ignoring the MASSIVE O-line problem while simultaneously going all-in on a rookie QB since day-1 was a smart idea..... If you honestly believe ignoring the O-line, while the best players on our O-line leave, while planning to invest in a 1st round QB is a smart idea, you are absolutely insane.
  6. If fans are still so delusional to think that Allen is ready to start after what we've seen with our O-line this preseason, they deserve the massive letdowns to come this season. I can easily see dozens of threads each week of fans whining about firing the HC or OC, or retroactively getting pissy about us not replacing our losses on the O-line, even though all off season they begged for Allen to start & made excuses as to why we'll repeat going to the playoffs.
  7. No money? Where did all that money we gave to Star come from then? Thank god they spent a boatload on him to protect our huge investment at QB right? No? Well at least he's going to be a dominant force on defense right? Hmmm.... about that.... Ok, at least we used our other 1st round pick on someone who will help Allen right?! What? We used it on a 19 year old LB??? Ok....this is starting to look like we had options, but decided O-line wasn't the priority
  8. I've only been talking about this all offseason...but this board seems to think you can throw in 5 scrubs to start as long as you have a 1st round QB behind your line. I really don't get why fans do this every year. Nobody cares about the O-line until they see how it gets us destroyed. Suddenly everyone cares when they realize our QB is getting smacked around week after week, our RB is getting stuffed in the backfield 1 second after the ball is snapped, and we start racking up loss after loss. It's happened so many times in the past 20 years, it blows my mind. I feel like Bills fans should be intimately acquainted with the importance of a good O-line at this point...especially after we've seen so many QB's get eaten alive behind such garbage ones. You're right, you can't. But since it was clear since the 2017 draft the Bill were loading up to take a QB in the 1st round, perhaps they should've spent some time planning on how to protect him as the #2 priority....
  9. So what did we do schematically different against the Bengals? How much better did Allen look behind our first string O-line? Everyone keeps saying "just wait until he plays with the #1's! Then we can see how great he really will play!" But for anyone who isn't being biased or delusional, they can see our 1st stringers aren't world-beaters, and that we put him at a huge disadvantage by doing that! The fact that Peterman was able to at least utilize timing & accuracy to stay alive so far is impressive. As long as he can do that, he should be the one taking the beating until Allen is more developed.
  10. Geez, people are so caught up in the moment. I'm glad fans don't call the shots. It was OBVIOUS going into the season, and even more obvious during the preseason that our O-line is bad and would get Allen killed, but even though fans always excuse poor play in preseason by saying "PRESEASON DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING!" everyone was so quick to anoint Allen the starter for week 1 because of preseason play against backups. Now people seem to be realizing, oh....maybe we do have a problem. That's nice. I'm glad you guys can finally form non-biased opinions when you're smacked in the face with a bit of reality. For someone who was considered a long term project, and the most raw of the big 4 first round QB's, the last thing we should want is to trot him & get him killed week after week this season.
  11. We seem to have a spotty record as of late finding great LB's & DE's in the draft as of late. I mean we used quite a few picks over the years, including some fairly high ones on guys like Lawson, Posluszny, Maybin, Edmunds, Tarpley, Ragland, Alonzo, Milano, Washington, Brown, Bradham, Carrington, Moats, Kelsay, etc. We never seem to truly strike greatness in the draft, but have done much better in FA or trades. Takeo Spikes, Mario Williams, London Fletcher, Lorenzo Alexander, Jerry Hughes, and more have all been great, standout contributors for our team. Mack could be the next, and possibly greatest, in a long line of successful Bills trades/acquisitions.
  12. What dream? Did he get his Raiders deal worked out?
  13. Well, here's more details about it... The incident is even crazier than I imagined - http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/police-report-ex-bills-ol-richie-incognito-wanted-deceased-dads-head-cut-off/ar-BBMlAho?ocid=ientp Wanting his dad's head cut off? The guy is clearly feeling the affects of years playing football and/or undisclosed mental illnesses.
  14. It's only overrated here on these boards. Just what fans tend to do. Overrate their own team/players while simultaneously being upset they're not getting the recognition they deserve. This defense will probably play fairly similar to last season's D. Doesn't look like the run-D has improved much, but it's gotta be better than it was right??? Even just a little...
  15. Peterman has a lot of promise. He's got the skills, intelligence, work ethic, etc. but has lackluster arm-strength holding him back. Any non-biased observer can tell you Peterman has performed the best so far this preseason. This has been broken down pretty well by numerous outlets in detail, especially with the quick, timing based offense we've been trying to run this preseason. That doesn't mean he's some great QB, but he doesn't "suck." And we if we're being honest, out of any of these guys, McCarron has had the most success of any QB on our roster (as sad as that is to say) in the league and in college. But since between our 3 QB's they have virtually no experience, that's not saying much. Either way, we don't know jack about how good or bad McCarron is. And let's not pretend his performance last preseason game means anything. Our O-line got handled. But the title of your thread leads me to leave you weren't looking for facts, evidence, or an unbiased perspective... It's to be expected though. Any team that ever drafts a QB in the 1st round will have a growing contingency of fans that impatiently demand to see that player immediately, regardless of circumstances.
  16. I mean we COULD...but we could every year and something always goes wrong. When Brady is something like 33-2 in games that he started & finished against us, that just shows how dominant him & Ol' Bill have been against us. Hell, remember last year's Christmas Eve game when Dennison coached probably the best game of his life, yet we still lost? Man...so many perfect opportunities and amazing play calls that just got ruined by poor execution... So many potentially awesome drives ended with FG's instead of TD's, and after half time, our defense couldn't hold out anymore. It's always something with the Pats... The saddest stat I remember hearing a year or so ago was Brady had more wins in Buffalo than any Bills QB since Jim Kelly.
  17. I'm just going to throw this out there...don't freak out like so many others do when I simply state some obvious things that don't toe the insanely optimistic Allen opinions, but that Chargers game is very unlikely to be a win IMO, regardless of who's starting at QB. - Chargers were 5th in the league in sacks - Chargers were 3rd in turnover differential - Chargers were 3rd in passing yards allowed per game - Chargers D-linemen destroyed our O-line last year (remember how many angry posts there were about the mic'd up Chargers linemen laughing about how easy it was?) ; Joey Bosa & Melvin Ingram are great players With how our line looked last year when we actually had a solid group, combined with how our line looks now without those players so far, it's hard to imagine a scenario in which they don't run rampant in our backfield play after play...making whoever's QB run for their life or get knocked out of the game. On the plus side, we're playing at home, which will be huge. We're only 3 - 9 against the Chargers since 1985, but 3 - 3 at home in that time against them. Much preferred over traveling across the country.
  18. There's been a lot of talk from sports outlets about our O-line play thus far, and just as expected, it's not looking great. Anyone that wasn't trying to lie to themselves & scream "11-5 record easy!" or "playoff repeat!" because we drafted a talented, project QB in the 1st round, noticed that our O-line would be worse just by losing the 2 best players on the unit (arguably 3 with Glenn). And as I've stated several times, look at our O-line play in 2016...it was pretty darn good. Look at the regression last year. Now subtract the definitive best players on that unit, and somehow we're going to do better!?? How many long-time players, coaches, and know-it-alls spout off "games are won & lost in the trenches?" It's true...We've seen bad O-lines kill QB's across the league & ruin them permanently (David Carr comes to mind)... We always talk about how the run game is supposed to be our bread & butter, but without talented players we're going to face a lot of 3 & outs (and we were 1st or 2nd in the league in 3 & outs last year). Teams probably won't even have to stack the box if they can consistently get pressure with their front 4. Everyone can drop back in coverage & try to make our QB's work much harder struggling to convert those 3rd downs.
  19. That's great news for now. Hoping he can keep that up when the competition steps up. Hopefully he can earn a spot with the starters & stay healthy.
  20. "Shill for Peterman?" Are you serious? That's like calling everyone on this board who want Allen to start, and post about it daily, "shilling" for Allen. Can't people just have opinions? Tasker's are more educated & close to the situation than ours, so maybe, and I know this sounds crazy, MAYBE it's simply his opinion? So when the topic comes up (which it does DAILY), he's not going to flip his opinion, and state who he wants to start and why.... That's how those things work.
  21. Flacco's been getting a lot of praise this offseason, and the Bills haven't been a good road team in what, nearly 20 years? Coupled with the fact we lost the past several times playing in Baltimore, have a worse team than last time, and our QB situation is one of the least experienced, if not the least experienced in the league, yeah...6 points is generous, expecially considering the home team usually gets -3 off the bat.
  22. LOL ? Fortunately for her, I'm the forgiving type. But she knows better now! I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner. Apparently her father, and another friend, had been using it to watch games since half way through the season. Only somehow those games never lined up with Bills games, so I never noticed. I'm pretty sure it was the 1st Miami game we missed...So luckily I knew we'd win!
  23. I'm going to state right now that it's a good deal. Streaming quality is top notch as long as you have a good internet connection. One thing to note: DO NOT give your password & login to anyone at any point ever.... Yes, this allows them to watch games, but only one person can be logged in at once. If at any point, you want to watch while someone else happens to leave that open, you will be denied access. Even if you want to force them out by changing the username & password, it will do nothing until they have manually logged out. Even contacting DirecTV will do nothing. They have no way to kick the other person off. I don't know who had my password (I think my wife gave it to someone), but I missed one of the last games of the season due to this. I even had DirecTV cancel & resign me up for Sunday Ticket hoping that would help, but to no avail. Still never figured out what A-hole was using my login, but I know now to never, under any circumstance, let someone else use my account.
  24. Ok, I agree with the ejections when the player is engaged with another defender already, but the ones where it's 1 v 1 and the offensive player is going low so the defender goes low to meet him I disagree with.
