  1. Agreed. Mind you last offseason people were terrified to lose him so we kept the band together. One of the things I laugh at on the 2021 season and Daboll is so much of the fanbase wanted him gone... then the playoffs happen and all was well Daboll was the GOAT. I think an experienced OC might have covered some of the holes that emerged by seasons end on offense, but the line play there was no saving from. This to me is like Josh year 2, they are going to invest in the OL and a WR or two to help with targets. Time for Dorsey to take the next step with his play calling and design from there and evolve. The Frazier criticism I understand far more by comparison.
  2. I 100% get that and agree. KC loss the 1st time conservativeness on FG instead of trying for TDs was frustrating, last year it was 13 seconds with how that played out, and this year just flat and the entire team, coaching staff, billy the buffalo stunk across the board. He will obviously get more changes but I do understand fans saying "show us you have learned from this and are not repeating the same frustrations". I have thought the Bills had enough distractions entering 22' as favorites in the media and the amount they embraced it before things actually started going wild during the season. I too have kinda thought as I created in another thread a more focused less distraction driven season might be the right antidote for the team and fans.
  3. I have a buddy who is a huge Steeler fan and sometimes the idea of moving in is attractive because of change and getting different results. On the flip side he knew they were not a playoff team and Tomlin was doing well to break in the new pieces as they transitioned their team this season and Pickett showed some real promise. I think in terms of SB they know it is a little of everything luck, good coaching, roster is set in the right way, and it takes a while for it all to fall together. He thinks it is insane when Bills fans bring up moving on from McD because it really has not been that long he has been the coach by their standards. I think it is far easier though to have patience when you have won a ring (rings in their case). In a different universe if Norwood made his kick I think you would see a far more patient group of fans that wouldn't be freaking as much. Josh and this group has shown this could be the time so everyone wants it now and I get that.
  4. I do not think fans hate him at all. I do think there is a lot of frustration because of how the team lost and some coaching decisions from him. But from most advanced analytics I read he is like a top 5-10 guy there so you would do a lot lot worse. The expectations heading into this year were so heavy SB or bust, when it didn't happen someone is the fall guy. Mind you in the weeks prior most fans wanted him to be coach of the year for what they did overcome lol Lets be honest it is easier to lose in a heartbreaker like 13 seconds where your QB looks like god and you are so close then to fall so flat vs CIN. That loss just seeps into you because it opens far more questions (some valid some not) when it is possible you just had a bad day which overexposed your flaws. Countless examples of football teams having a bad day at the worst moment; with the expectation's and what happened McD becomes target 1. Again to me camelot still existed in some form with the team and coach into this year. That is no longer there, but people have swung a bit too far the other way too.
  5. He is the crux of it and people will spin the context for support or against him how they want it. I think it 100% accurate to say the honeymoon is beyond over and the proverbial hot seat at least is in the city even though it might now be here now. If the team keeps winning I doubt he goes anywhere even if they cant crack a SB birth. It gets very interesting if they were to regress though and where ownership goes. Right now they are printing money, they are relevant as heck, and they are a contender in the big league eyes. The only way I think they move own is if those things start to change.
  6. This is where I lie and why I have stayed clear since the CIN loss. Did the Bills fail their goal, the fans dream, most predictions of a SB win? Yes. Are there things they need to improve on and legitimate questions ranging from coaching to draft? Yes. Did they still overcome a sh*t ton of obstacles in every possible and win a lot? Also Yes. And as you said would most fanbases take having McD, Beane, & Josh? Yes outside a select few who happen to also be really angry they lost or didn't make the SB or your KC. I know people want it to be a black and white thing but like many things in life it is a far more complex grayed story and analysis. I have said numerous times I have zero issue with being objective on things the Bills need to work or and legitimate questions including whether the DC should stay, why the head coach tenses in playoff games, and most importantly why they just came out so flat in a game at home in game that would've give you a neutral field shot to slay the dragon. I think that is fine to discuss but it needs to be articulated with some logic not "Fire this guy" "burn it down" "Without Josh their the worst team in football" etc... Everyone complaining about McD but worship Reid forget up until 2019 Reid was considered a good offensive coach who couldn't close the deal. 2 SB wins later and now he is brilliant and that doesn't matter. Heck had the Bills won the SB this year all the people ignoring the injuries and adversity would've wrote it as part of story on how this team overcame. I am happy that the standard for many is SB or bust as opposed to just being happy they made the playoffs. They have a good team, they have a great QB, and they have a pretty good coach and GM who you should want more from. But find a healthy ground of reality also and maybe step away that football isn't the end all be all and your not fixing everything or winning the SB in one second.
  7. Dude I am with you. I login right now and its like a bunch of teenagers that are melting down. Many of the posts are nothing constructive or they are duplicates of the same crap. You can have a well reasoned argument for both side of the coin but the anything remotely positive is destroyed with the anger of a 1000 suns. "We have Josh Allen he is really good and top 3 in the league" , response "It doesn't matter he won't be the same, we are wasting him, he won't even beat Mahomes etc". It is freaking insane. Also we have the FA and the Draft and camp then training camp for the 2023 team to form. There are a billion things that will change the outlook in that time. I am 100% in for objective criticism and with the way the team finished it is warranted. But were a universe past that with a lot of people.
  8. Score more points then the other team
  9. The SB has morphed into a show for the rich and corporations. It is a whose who event and regular fans are left in the dust because of it. I would love to see each team get 5000 tickets and they are lotteried to season ticket price for season ticket holders but that is never happening.
  10. I have been of the belief for the NFL it should go to just 2 division being the East and West. Merge the East and North divisions as the new East and the South & West as the new West for each conference. It would put a premium on winning the division for home field and give wildcard teams a more fair path to the playoffs so an 8-9 team is not hosting a game. Additionally I would do the schedule where you play your division once (7 games) plus one rotating game against one of your three former division foes (1 games), four of the teams in the West (4 games), four of the opposing conferences team so you would play the foursome of the NFC East or South now it just rotates (4 games), and a cross over game with the other conference as is now (1 game). It would balance things far more where you would play 75% of the conference yearly and play everyone a home and away within 3 years vs now where it can be 3-4 years before you host KC for example.
  11. Carries the juice.....?
  12. Agreed. I really like that she was a champion for women in sports, I love Amy Trask and her stories when she was with the Raiders. With Kim as president it felt like the Bills had a real presence in league circles and were cutting edge in many ways. I have three nieces and for them I thought that she was a great role model for where women can go. I would love to see Jessie do the same in the future IF she wants to as she seems to have much of the passion and charisma her mother has.
  13. Not sure why you are arguing with me on this. Of course ratings play a role into how the schedule things, but teams are allowed a say on preferences for things and literally that has come from the mouth of the dude at the NFL who runs the whole setup.
  14. To be honest I think the Chiefs are alone as the alphas. CIN lucked out hard in the 21 playoffs between Tannehill throwing insanely bad INT's and the Chiefs failing to close. I think CIN is really really good, but KC is the top and then everyone else.
  15. I can't even imagine. In April 21 my wife ended up getting COVID in what was what seemed like the harshest strand and it hit her pretty hard where she went to the hospital. having her go and your not allowed in and don't hear for a bit was gutting. Thankfully it worked out ok after a few days and she home fine, so I can understand a little. Happy your wife is healthy and doing fine. Things get incredibly real and so much don't matter when drastic unexpected events happen.
  16. Terry is quirky but seems like a decent dude and like you ^ as dad/husband
  17. It explains quite well now why she hasn't been seen and I hope people understand and respect that. I always really liked Kim and it is gutting that she won't be the same as she was, but I am happy for the Pegula's that she seems to be doing well enough to still enjoy life to some extent as a family and a mom.
  18. They also have rings. The pressure from the fan base, media, etc.. to get over the hump exists. Someone made a great point that if Rodgers career reversed where he won a ring at the very end how would we have viewed him up to that point and the pressure surrounding it. Josh especially has basically the weight of 60 years and a city on his shoulders and to his credit and why we love him he embraces it. But it gets heavy at times and that had to play a role as every obstacle imaginable appeared this year.
  19. Oh without a doubt Damar altered everything and there is not a fan or player who wouldn't trade everything this season so he lived. My general thought though is as a group the expectations mixed with the media hype and how they took it on may have been a detriment long term. You could never expect the season to have so much wild unexpectedly bad events happen either. Listen to Sal from WGR550 when he interview Mike North from the NFL. Teams directly make requests on what they want, doesn't mean they get anything but it is a factor. Part of the reason the Bills for a long time did not host at night was because they know the fanbase likes 1pm games and many drive from hours away. The team being bad didn't help either, but the team does try to do its best for the fans in that regard.
  20. Thank you and yep. Part of NE getting so many 1 seeds was the fact they routinely were rolling 4-2 5-1 in division yearly. They actually only went 6-0 in division like twice but even so when you are not getting pressed it makes it so much easier.
  21. Agreed. For a team that doesn't have a title they got a lotttt of air time and I think tightening it up a bit isn't going to hurt anything.
  22. 1. Brady 2. Coaching BB as a coach is great 3. Smart FA signing at the right time. Moss & Welker 07, Gilmore 17, Corey Dillon 2004, etc.. when NE went to the FA for a star caliber player it fit their scheme to a T normally and gave great dividends 4. Took advantage of extra draft picks before other teams started doing so which allowed a greater hit rate on players outside of the 1st round 5. AFC East was garbage 6. Secured the #1 seed an insane number of times which allowed a far easier path to the SB. They only lost once at home in the AFC title game (BAL 2012), by comparison on the road they were 3-3.
  23. BBQ City 27 Riot City 23 I think the Chefs get up on the Bird people early and while the Bird people come back from a 14-0 deficit, it is too much as Reid and Mahomes each get their second rings (hopefully making them reallyyyy bored for 2023 lol) SHHHHHH
  24. Not sure they need to go full nuclear, but I do think this past year did go a little overboard. And again having that many primetime window games on off days will eventually catch someone.
  25. As we take apart the 2022 season the major theme that came out of this season to me was chaos and a team that was doing too much. This to me applies to every facet of the team from the offense boom or bust nature instead at points taking the easy play, the defense with some very odd play calls (3 and 4 playing 8 yards off) and guys not being in places they should, to just the overall feeling where things had no normalcy a lot which at points was the not the Bills fault and other times maybe biting off more then they needed whether it be the amount of attention they embraced at times to the schedule they took on. My thoughts: Offense: Daboll in retrospect is missed now, but during his time we all had our frustrations as sometimes he had some odd play calls that made you wonder what he was thinking. The 4th down call against PIT in the opener comes to mind when they ran an outside sweep with Brieda no where near the line or the game plan in general in JAX that took forever to develop. But in general with Daboll he excelled with some great window dressing to a variety of simple play calls like jet sweeps/screens/or just creative ways to get 5-7 yards. Dorsey I get his idea to attack deep as it was one of Josh's best strengths but he went too far at points with overly aggressive calls. Josh 100% shoulders some of this with his nature, but part of being the OC is giving calls that force your QB to follow what is given and too often it was geared towards attacking on mid to long range plays. I would expect this year Dorsey takes a look at the 2019 - 2020 film and sprinkles in more of what Daboll did along with plays geared to take advantage of the situation. That 3rd and 2 against CIN which he called Davis deep is an example of a play and situation where you should be calling a designed run for Josh 2 yards up or having Knox 5 yards up as CIN wasn't stopping him much that game. A better WR2 and OL strengthen will always help, but my hope is Dorsey can grow where the offense is more diversified, situationally smarter, and has a better identity that is not as predictable as they became. Defense: Chaos was at the maximum here and while I don't like using injuries it played a role. The last three games of the season the defense seemed to finally have broken as they were regularly allowing sustained drives as the injuries did seem to catch up and some of the play calls were so soft on coverage it was allowing NE/MIA/CIN to march on the Bills secondary. Personnel is going to change this offseason so what the D looks like is going to impact expectations, but hopefully Tre and Hyde come back to training camp 100%. One of the things I would like to see though is less chaos at the CB spot. I understand they were breaking in a lot of youth and without Tre the CB1 and 2 spots were rotating, but it behooved the Bills to not let Elam have some growing pains and figure it out. When you constantly are rotating that many players around it 100% causes breaks in communication and trust. Like many I did hope Frazier would've been let go so a fresh set of eyes could've come in. With Poyer almost for sure gone, some young D lineman that need improvement, and years of the same defense new ideas would've been helpful. Regardless the defense having a more regular base set of players to work as a unit would be helpful I think in seeing them stabilize as a group. Outside of Von, Edmunds, Milano and the Safeties everything felt in flux with the defense all season and the questions out of training camp never really stopped at certain positions and who was the starter. Again some better injury luck certainly will help, but committing to players and trusting them may also breed better results. Org As A Whole: Part of the harshness of the loss to CIN to me was the level of expectation the team itself set and embraced in regards to 2022. I have no issue with my team embracing the goal of winning the SB and that being public. At the same token Buffalo willing took the media praise and a schedule that was one of a team that was a title team. That has advantages and is fun, it also adds a ton of pressure along with irregularity to the routine players and coaches have. Every NFL coach would tell you if they could have 17 1pm Sunday games they would as it is the most normal routine across the board. In 2022 Buffalo played three games on Thursday, two games on Saturday, and two Monday games; nearly half their games were not on Sunday and they also had to move a home game (not their doing). By comparison Kansas City played just three games outside of Sunday. With that said the Bills actually were 6-0 with an * to the unfinished CIN game so they were good under the lights, but those are exhausting games that also limit the days of rest you get and also keep the media attention and microscope on you. In a season which had plenty of distractions this was just another layer of things to contend with and at points where maybe you want things to chill out only invite more questions. The players are human, at some point that type of thing will start to wear a bit on you. The NFL will do what it wants with the schedule, but teams do have a sizable say in what they would like with the schedule. I am sure the Bills were informed in advance about being considered for Thanksgiving and had an option with that the same with the opening game. In 2023 the Bills already will have a game in London that is an adjustment in itself, but I would bet McD and crew would like to see a bit of scale bit to more of what the Bills had in 2021 three games outside of Sunday itself. The Bills will still be on primetime and national windows as the schedule already has four games that stick out for that (DAL/at CIN/ at KC/ at PHI) not including division games as the Bills had two at night last year, but I can see the Bills wanting to just return to a bit more focused routine based approach to quiet things a bit especially given the way this last year went.
