It's more about the vitriol directed at him by some. He's a Bill, and this is a way for people to send some positive energy & lift him up in the face of that. -
As you alluded to - it's a small # of fans. Probably very small. Same is the fans who throw snowballs & that kind of stuff. Yes - we're the best fans.

Great QBs and the # of SuperBowl Victories

I didn't used to think this way - but I'm closer to there than where I was before. I'm just enjoying Bills football while we have someone as good as Allen. It seems like he's too good to not get a shot or 2 at the big game - but if he doesn't, I don't want that to be the arbiter of whether I spent my time or emotions well. Just enjoy the moment, always. -
You say it yourself w/ the bolded. That might have been the ONLY time a TD was that open. How many times have we seen a big pass to somewhere inside the 10 yard line - and then the D tightens up and the offense can't get a TD? As for the "end result" conclusion - not even sure how to address that one. It's kind of preposterous.

Man, I hope Allen just wins 4 SB's in a row, to even up the record, and shut EVERYONE up. It's exhausting being a sports fan these days. I try to tune everything out, but terrible uninformed takes are ubiquitous.
-
I give you credit for being able to listen to that guy. I was watching that show for awhile. But like Bayless made his career off of hating Lebron, Wright is doing the same w/ Allen. And hopefully, he'll look like just as much of a fool when JA ends up w/ 4 titles. But I will not know, because I will not listen to him. His act is obvious, pitiful, and a disgrace.
-
So, you don't think a QB should go for a TD when it's open?
-
Well put. That's the mystifying thing to me. I just don't see single plays dissected like this for other QB's, unless they're massive mistakes or turnovers.
-
I think we're kind of soft when it comes to certain things. I think they are extremely reluctant to move on from McDermott - it's almost like a family or something. As long as we're winning division titles, they don't want to rock the boat. To win it all, you sometimes have to be ruthless & uncompromising. We're not like that. But not every title-winner has been, either. We might get lucky.

Allen was legendary (even better than 13 seconds Allen)
Success replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thank you!!!!!! Countless comments the past few days (not so much here - but nationally) that Josh was playing "hero ball" again at the end. Just couldn't help himself. A 30-yard pass to a wide open guy isn't "hero ball." -
I really don't care about this. Allen does more for his team than any QB. Anyone who watched this season, and watched on Sunday, can see that. He gets almost no help at times. And that's what an MVP is to ME. But Lamar had a great year. He'll win it, and he's not undeserving. And Allen doesn't need anything else to inspire the media class & other fanbases to start hyperventilating about how overhyped & overrated he is. I hope we can go into next season being more underestimated and less talked about than we have been.

Looks like Leonard Floyd won't give the Bills a discount to resign him.

Can't see him staying. A team w/ more cap will offer him more. He was awesome for us, regardless. Wish him well wherever he may go.- 83 replies

I'm kind of an old timer. This kind of nitpicking of every play and nuance in a game simply didn't happen in the ol' days. The level of scrutiny on JA is at such a ludicrous level. It adds so much pressure w/ each passing year. I wouldn't even be able to function w/ that, personally - not sure how anyone plays in front of millions w/ it.

Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread

And it's the ultimate hot take that many are now rating Lamar over Allen. I love Lamar's game, and he has had a great year. But in no way do I take him over Allen long-term. -
That's a good view. It is clean. I just hate what it's all become in an age when everyone can watch replays in slo mo for days, from every angle, with close-ups & all that - and a bunch of people on a couch can say "why didn't he do this or that? So easy!" I get that "it's what separates the great ones." But I've seen the great ones miss big plays, too. Mahomes missed a guy wide open in the EZ earlier in the game. Both QB's do what they can in the moment.

I was avoiding this because I knew it would bug me. And it didn't disappoint. It's amazing how many people in the media fail to comprehend that football is a TEAM GAME. -
The bolded doesn't compute w/ me. Once you get in the red zone against a good D, nothing is guaranteed. I swear, if JA did the "small chunks" thing, and we got stopped, or something worse happened (penalty, turnover), pundits would have spent the past few days talking about how he had an easy TD w/ Shakir open in the EZ, and didn't take it when he had the chance.
-
We're all so scared of Mahomes because of 13 seconds. And not that he couldn't have done that again. But if Josh hits that TD - the crowd would have been absolutely insane. He did 13 seconds in KC. I think there is a shot he could have scored a TD there - but no way that's a given.
-
I actually don't remember Brady doing that at all. They didn't fear our offense.
-
I am beyond tired of the national hand-wringing about that play. It was THERE. I've actually heard fans argue that what Allen SHOULD have done is to just keep picking up small chunks, and then score a TD with just a few seconds left on the clock. As though you can script something like that perfectly. Then there is a holding penalty, or sack, or turnover, or you just can't get in the endzone. Allen saw Shakir wide open for 6, and he went for it. And, as we all know, if Chris Jones gets there a half second later, that's a TD and we're likely up by 4. I'm like, is that the best that you've got, Allen haters? The guy plays a great game, should have had at least 100 more yards and another TD if his receivers could hang onto the ball - and you're saying "same ol' Allen" because he went for an OPEN TOUCHDOWN. And I hope Mahomes throws 3 picks this week so we can all see the double-standard. It won't be nearly as analyzed and dissected.

For some, that is the only metric. Drove me crazy when people were comparing Brady & Manning. I happen to think Brady is better when all is said & done - but he did get to play w/ the GOAT coach and teams that had much better balance & construction, while Manning went through 5 coaches and often had average teams he had to carry. People talk about it like it's tennis. -

If you showed me TOP and turnovers before the game - I would have been ecstatic. 100% would have thought it meant a Bills win by several scores. -
Oliver took a step. Epenesa took a step. Hopefully Groot can too.

Mix and match Allen/Mahomes and Reid/McDermott
Success replied to Lifefan1's topic in The Stadium Wall
I shouldn't generalize like that. I'm sure that's true. I'd amend my remarks to "quite a few online fans." And I get that they're a different demographic than the whole of a fanbase. -

Success replied to Lifefan1's topic in The Stadium Wall
KC fans talk about Allen the exact same way that Pats fans talked about Manning for years. It's not just that "Mahomes is better." Josh Allen has to be total trash. No in-between. No, 'oh, they always have great games, and both are great, but to this point Mahomes has gotten the better of it.' It's lame. Now, of course, Pats fans hype Manning up - because they want to make it seem like Brady had some resistance on the way to "greatness."
