Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread
Success replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Man, was Chris Jones annoying at the end. The Chiefs are an easy team to root against. -
I think McDermott is a very solid coach, and we had a lot of adversity w/ the injuries. But this certainly seems like the ceiling w/ him. To win a SB, we'll need a lot of luck. I don't think he deserves to be fired. But we may be at a point where we just need some new energy. This team has almost too much psychological baggage at this point, and a change at HC could be a catalyst for a whole new direction & attitude.

We missed Bernard, too. Both of those guys were just leaders on the field. And playmakers. No one on D made an impact play yesterday. I don't really count the goal-line fumble; that was kind of flukey. No one had a sack or big play.

We get to see all of that in slo-mo replay. Allen had about 2 seconds, and saw Shakir open. -

Allen's detractors (the people who thought he'd be a bust when he was drafted) are really seizing on his decision to go to Shakir at the end as more proof that he blows it & can't win big games. This, to me, is insane. First, it wasn't a bad decision at all. Shakir was wide open. It wasn't "hero ball." Beyond that, he carried the team the whole game. Who else made a big play in that game? Shakir & Kincaid had nice plays & catches - but no one on D really made a play, outside of the goal-line fumble. No sacks, no INT's, blown coverages. That was Allen's game from start to finish. To point out one decision he made as some sort of "proof" of anything is holding him to a ridiculous standard. -
I think we would have had a good shot. We wouldn't have the psychological baggage we have w/ KC. Seems like the Ravens' year, though.

Maybe a weird post - but I was both excited about this game, and dreading it. I was excited because winning would have been euphoria - but I expected losing to be completely devastating. As it always has been for me. I'm actually shocked that I'm in decent spirits right now. It's nothing like previous losses in high-stakes games. I usually can't sleep, but I think I'll sleep fine tonight. Trying to figure it out. Do I just expect this kind of stuff now? Just curious if anyone else has a similar thing going on....

I think anyone who second guesses that just second guesses a lot of stuff. Life isn't in slow mo - JA made a decision to try to win the game there, and the play was open.

Man - being a Bills fan isn't for weaklings. Our losses are brutal. Always. And then we get ridicule from the rest of the league, all the time. It's never easy. -

I think we should have a statue outside the stadium of a fan just shaking their fists at the sky. -

This will be just like 13 seconds. A bragging rights game that will mean nothing, because KC doesn't have as good a chance of beating the Ravens as we would have. -

Worst game I've seen from our defense this year. Almost immediately, my hopes that the backups could fill in okay were dashed. It definitely hurt that we were so banged up. -
Yeah - same. We just don't know right now. Allen is better than Rivers ever was. But it might not matter. Seems so hard to even get to a SB right now.

What else can we do? We have, at least, an informal family here in Buffalo. I feel pain right now - but I know there are thousands of people right there w/ me. Allen is still young, we'll always have a window while he's playing. There is a rich history in sports of great players who kept hitting a wall year after year, until they broke through. Just keep hoping. And stay away from the media. I made the mistake of checking Nick Wright's initial reaction - what a wonderful example of a sore winner. But it will be a brutal week w/ the ending being a wide right kick. Just steer clear. Life is still good. We still have Josh Allen.

Is being a sports fan "fun"? Doesn't feel like it at moments like this. -
What is your gut telling you right now?

Mahomes pick 6 to start the game. That's what my gut just told me. -
Lions/Bills Super Bowl. Let's make it happen! One team gets their 1st.

We need both lines to be great today. Protect Allen, clear some lanes for Cook, get to Mahomes = Bills win. -

The Niners will NOT scare me if we get to the SB. Obviously a very good team - but not what they are hyped to be. -

So, we're gonna have to watch Gronk in every other commercial for the rest of our lives? Is that the deal? -
Great game so far - Texans can win this. I have massive respect for the Texans, Stroud & Ryans - but they're not beating us in Buffalo in January, in their 1st AFCCG.
