Mini rebuild. Why is anyone that surprised?
Success replied to Blackbeard's topic in The Stadium Wall
The overreactions on this thread & board right now border on comical. While it isn't all "we're fine," we lost on a long FG w/ regulation expiring, on the road, to a top team. I feel like people just started watching the game. The Ravens game was bad, but everyone knows we were starting to roll until that trick play. I can probably go back and look at the last 20 Super Bowl finalists, and find much worse losses & stretches in their regular season for most of them than what we've had here. -

It's football. Practically every game comes down to a few plays. What if Brady doesn't call the trick play last week? What if we don't pass 3x yesterday? We can beat anyone. I'll stand by that. -
What's on your Mt. Rushmore of Halloween/Horror Movies?

Hereditary The Vigil (kind of obscure, but I would recommend for anyone into the genre) Blair Witch Project Nightmare on Elm Street -
This year feels like our best opportunity w/ Allen yet. Not because of our team - but because the rest of the AFC and really the league as a whole just isn't all that. There is no one I think we aren't able to beat on a good day. It's why Beane should get aggressive on the WR market. That feels like the only thing that could hold us back.
-
That's kind of extreme. The Texans are probably the 2nd best team in the AFC and they needed a 60 yard FG to beat us.

Do you approve of the job Brandon Beane is doing?

He's at worst a top 10 GM. I think I saw him ranked 6th in a recent poll. It's easy to focus on the misses and mistakes, but overall, his drafts have been really solid, and he's decent enough in FA. The one area I would critique is giving some players better contracts than they deserve. -
I'd give up a 3rd in a heartbeat for Adams. I'd give up a 2nd if they took on all or most of his contract.

Gotta go 4-1 over this stretch. 5-0 would be great, but 3-2 would be a missed opportunity. The schedule gets harder after that.

Eh - I still say we're as good as anyone this year. The league is very average right now. -
Of course. They came back to tie the game...no?

He looks great to me. Yesterday was rough, but he had more pressure on him than usual, a few bad drops by the WR's, and guys didn't seem to be getting open. Literally 2 weeks ago, he was consensus MVP to that point of the season.

That has to lead the league. -
We were down 20-3 to one of the better teams in the league, on the road. Once again, we came out of the half looking like a different team. The defense made some key plays - the stop on 4th down, the pick by Bernard, and generally getting the stops we needed to keep the game close and give the offense a chance. Overall, outside of the long TD, the defense actually held it down well all day. It was a great road comeback, and it's all we'd be talking about today if the coaching staff didn't let the team down on that last series. I thought calling 3 passes there really disrespected the effort that the whole team made to get that game back to a tie. We had the momentum at that point - we just needed to get to OT, and it's likely our outlook would be very different today.

This is part of fandom, and what makes it so great in a way. Think of Red Sox fans who had to wait from 1918 to 2004. Obviously, a lot of them never even saw a title, but in 2004, that was about as blissful a feeling as a fan could have. There is something to be said for enduring epic heartbreak before you finally break through. Personally, I love the journey. I'd probably be more discouraged if we didn't have Allen, but that guy is going to get a ring, and it keeps me hoping.

My happiness with Brady will increase exponentially if he starts to realize that you can actually throw a pass on 1st down.
-
We have a close game problem. It really does seem to be a "tightness" thing at times. The coaching just botched that last series yesterday. It felt like panic.
-
I'm kind of curious if he's already done that - he looked a lot bigger to me yesterday, but that's just an observation watching on TV.

Which play was worse yesterday, Coleman or Davis
Success replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
People made such a big deal out of Coleman's play. He's a rookie - that kind of communication can take time. That was more of a classic rookie mistake, and I read nothing into it. -
Josh Allen Performance Yesterday..a Redux
Success replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Drops, more pressure, guys not getting open - I really don't put too much of this on Josh. I wouldn't even call it a bad game for him. He ran really well too. The few angles I've seen of the whole field on some plays, it's stunning how covered our receivers are. We don't have guys who are great at separation - but Brady can scheme some of that, and hasn't seemed to crack the code on that one. -
10/6/2024 - Bills at Texans post game thread.

One thing I'm super-grateful for tonight - when Josh was down on the ground there, and they showed the replay, it was easy to think the worst. When he came running out & putting his helmet back on, it was such a huge sigh of relief. The season is still on. -
Have you ever quit following a sports team?
Success replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in Off the Wall
I'm Knicks first, but when they were bad, I started following the Suns w/ Steve Nash, and loved some of those teams. I was pretty into them for quite a few years there. As soon as Nash moved on, I lost interest. I'm a 'Cuse grad, and don't follow the football or hoops teams much anymore. We never got too into the football regardless, but for a pretty good stretch I knew all of the players on the hoops team and watched avidly. -
Concerned that Joe Brady may have crashed back to reality.
Success replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was disappointed in the playcalling today. We passed on 1st down a few times in the 1st quarter - but after that, it was all north/south kinds of runs. It was very predictable, and put us in 2nd & 3rd and long all day. -
Can it be Bishop and Rapp when Rapp is healthy again? I'm clueless as to whether FS can move to SS and vice versa...

The Ravens look like the team to beat this year. I think we can beat them, but I'd favor them against us & in every game. They seem to have figured it out.
