I don’t think it was as much a roll as schedule. After the bye week 3 of the 6 games were against teams that had lost their starting QB for the game (GB, Hou, and Indy) and 1 game against Cleveland. That was their wins. The 2 games against starting QBs - Pittsburgh and Cincinnati - they lost both of those. The Ravens looked good this preseason, but I think the Media loves Harbaugh and overthinks what kind of a coach he is. I don’t think that team is any better or worse than the Bills right now - to me the difference is home versus away. I anticipate it is going to come down to a couple of teams - Buffalo, Baltimore, KC for the last playoff spot just like last year and the year before. I think the difference in the teams overall is minimal, but with a week to week league that the NFL has become - you just don’t know what team will show up until the game starts.

Where is 0 percent? Anyone that thinks he is going to repeat a historical day should turn in their fan card now. Also he look ok last preseason not good - he was just over 50% completion last year as opposed to 80% this year. He looks totally different from the rookie Peterman. Give him a chance. What to me is more compelling is can he do better in this game that TT did against Baltimore 2 years ago. 111 yards through the air and a whopping 7 points with nothing to show on offense with the Bills down and several drives late when we needed a score.

I would agree, but I believe Lynch is still PS eligible and there are very few guys that fit that criteria with the experience Lynch has. I hate the idea of Lynch being on the 53 - that would make no sense, but if you are working him out with an eye on the PS just to see. Then I have no issue. I would like to think the Bills know who is available and are looking at this as an opportunity to get a guy and maybe use it for a pick later on. Same way a team like the Jets are looking at him.

Breshad Perriman to visit Bills
Rochesterfan replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because Dez has been slow and terrible the last couple of years and we already have the exact same player younger in KB. Dez would be an option if he made plays by being physical, but he seems to get stone hands with defenders around. -
Milano as he is a LB and a position we need quality at. TD Mike gives us nothing over the current backs - he is a JAG that screwed over NE and after 4 games sat on the bench. Thanks Hoodie for the pick.

You should have started a third third thread on a punter with a leg like that. -
The Punter Situation/New Punter
Rochesterfan replied to BillsFan692's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would totally disagree. Colman had talent and potential- they wanted a shot to unlock it. They saw that he was not making it and made adjustments. That is what a team should do - not go oh well he is not going to give us what we need, but let’s keep him anyway and not try to get better. They got a new punter at league minimum. After week 1 they can easily go out and pick up Schmidt or Ryan or any of a handful of veterans without the guaranteed money sticking in. This move was about money and for 1 week go ahead and complain- if the guy is better he sticks and if not they can move on. It does give insight - the team is looking to improve even at the punter position. The Bills are looking to get better and they are looking for talent - this is a way to get a guy in, save money, and leave the window open on multiple veteran punters that they can bring back with no guaranteed mony. Don’t overthink this move. -
I don’t know - it depends upon what they have seen in practice. I think as the winds pick up and it gets colder - there will be more returns of kick-offs this year. It also depends upon what punter they are keeping and the punting plan. Colton seems to be a more directional kicker lacking some of the length - especially lately. If they keep him and punt to the sidelines - then gunner is less important, but if they are going for distance with hang time then the Gunner might be critical to getting a fair catch. Myfeeling is when you are looking at the bottom of the roster a guy that is good at special teams and can help out WR is better than a good WR that is not as good at ST. Holmes or another Gunner will get significantly more plays on special teams than they will at WR for the year.

Sal Carpaccio: Corey Coleman Is In Trouble
Rochesterfan replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is nothing - they have 50 million in dead money - does that 3.5 suddenly put them out of business or something? -
Do ou remember the Bills leading the league in sacks for a couple of seasons (2013 and 2014 to be exact) - what was their record versus Brady? 1-3 with the lone win being the las game of 2014 where they pulled Brady at the half because everything was sewn up. Teams get very little pressure on Brady and Mack would not have solved that poblem. He might help against the Jets or the Dolphins, but Mack makes no difference against the quick passing of Brady.

Whoops looks like maybe you should stop as Sal was 100% on this. -

Yet Cleveland was willing to trade him for a 7th - 2 years out or they were going to cut him. The Bills took a shot - it cost them next to nothing and if his talent was so great compared to his play - the Browns would have gotten more originally. As was stated at the time this was a low risk with potential high reward, but everyone knew this was also a potential outcome. -
Right now, who is the Bills best Qb?
Rochesterfan replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For me it depends upon what you mean by best. Josh is by far the best QB on the team - he has the best arm, can make all the throws, gives you enough mobility to help the offense, but he is not ready to start game 1 and does not give us the best chance to beat Baltimore. Nate does not have the skills or the talent of Josh, but he has easily played the best during the preseason - be it with the 1s, the 2s, or the 3/4s. He has prepared to start in this league and has seen real bullets in an NFL game. He reads the field the best and can get rid of the ball faster than the other 2. At this point he is not the best QB, but he is by far the most ready and gives you the best chance to win. AJ has the most experience, but to me he falls someplace in between Josh and Nate in most QB aspects. Solid back-up, but if you could get something in trade that is fine also. I had higher hope for him in TC, but he just has not been good enough prior to the injury. So for me - Josh is the best QB, but I believe Nate gives them the best chance to win for a few weeks. -
Nope - there are differences in how I consume the NFL now, but my passion is still there. In the past - I would watch pregame shows on ESPN because I loved Boomer and the guys and it was fun - then I would watch the post game to see highlights and anything else I missed - again Boomer and TJ were awesome to watch. Now I have no desire to watch Pre or Post game - the people are just annoying- guys like Irving, Chris Carter, Randy Moss, Faulk, and a variety of coaches just give me nothing at all worth listening to. Post game - you can go on the internet and get stats, scores, big plays, etc both live and after the game no need for sports center or NFL network post game shows. I consume much more NFL right now than ever before - including time on this board - I also have access to way more information than ever before and I think it is great.

Bodine Didn't Bode Well From the Tigers Writers Eyes !!
Rochesterfan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice response - I am his mom because you called out a guy on a play that he did his job and made the TD possible. Just because you are wrong and 90% of the board saw it and called you out to the point you were being ridiculed and the Mods had to close the thread - that is not my fault. Refute the video evidence. Did he not block his guy and move him off to the guard? Did he not then see the blitzing/stunting player come up the middle and stone him and move him 3 feet to the offenses left making a nice lane for Allen to step up and make the throw? Yes after knocking the Browns player out of the way he looks back to see if he can pick up anything else just before Allen makes the throw, but that was after he had already done his job and kept the middle of the field open and gave Josh the space to make the play. As I stated - there are plenty of plays that Bodine gets blown up and moved back toward the QB and the line looks significantly better with Groy at center, but this was not the play to try and prove that. Bodine makes a nice back-up and gives the Bills some veteran depth- I hope the Bills start Groy because I think he is the better player. If Redmond learns how to shotgun snap - maybe he beats out Bodine and we can cut him, but right now the difference between Bodine and Groy is not huge and may have just as much to do with who is at QB as it does with their actual play. McCarron is a sack machine right now. -
Bodine Didn't Bode Well From the Tigers Writers Eyes !!
Rochesterfan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is because it it was a horrible take for the play in question. The several film clips added to that hot take proved you totally wrong. Most people in the thread agree that Bodine is not a great player, but on the play you called him out for - he blocked his guy and moved him off to a guard and stoned a second rusher that was coming through the middle and knocked him 3 feet out of the way and then he turned to see if there was anyone else to pick up toward Allen. On that play you called him out for he not only did his job, but was exceptional as he helped moved multiple people out of the way allowing Allen to move up in the pocket to avoid the pressure from outside. That play did not illustrate your point at all. The funny thing is there are many other choice you could have made that do support your take, but the one you made was flat out wrong - which is why people went after you and the thread got closed. Overall back to the original point - this is not a surprise nor does it mean he can not work out, but the line looks better with Groy at this point. -
Teams don’t agree to do the show. They have not had volunteers in years. Teams have been voluntold you are doing this - the NFL had to create a set of guidelines to force teams into the show. The NFL loves the publicity- the teams do not seem to like the drama and the light they are put under, but try to make the most of it. I think it has made some teams (Dolphins under Philbin - Cle this year) look like absolute train wrecks.

Former Seahawks Punter Jon Ryan to visit Bills on Tuesday
Rochesterfan replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would not think so. I think they were legitimately hoping the injured punter showed a lively leg to make the team better and with that injury - I think they are looking for help. Schmidt is pretty good, but he has very bad moments. If they can find someone that eliminates the bad and is able to maintain the good - a replacement will happen. -
Agreed it it is a difficult thing and my heart and prayers go out to him. The problem is losing his dad did not trigger this. This was was triggered by something much earlier as the first real indication we had was the bizarre twitter rants. Something changed prior to that that triggered that behavior and since then it has been a spiral and this latest death just pushes it further over the edge. My hope is now maybe in a controlled situation- he can get some help he needs to get everything back under control with his mental illness. The players have reached out to try and help, the family sounds like they tried earlier to help, now maybe Richie with this arrest at a low point will accept the help and get whatever he needs to get through this. If not at this low point - the next lower point is a very dark place indeed.
-
What are you talking about - wanting back. The Bills had him under contract - he flipped out fired his agent on twitter and retired via twitter. His health was so bad he “could not” play - his kidneys were shutting down. When he decided he wanted to play - then his contract was a problem and he wanted to be released. The Bills granted that. We do not know what kind of help was offered to him, but we know several Players reached out and I imagine the FO did also, but Richie was gone by then and within days he was throwing dumbbells in FL. This is not on the Bills at all as far as I am concerned. They got lucky and got out of the line of Fire for something that was coming regardless of if he was still on the team or not.
-
We had a signed contract with him. Not coming back was his choice. The Bills, his agent, and Richie agreed to a new contract and everything was there. A month later Richie decides on Twitter to fire his agent and retire. He had football, but something went off and that is on him. From what you hear - family, friends, teammates have all reached out, but if he doesn’t want help there is little you can do. Since then you have had the incident at the gym, his bizarre twitter support of Shady, his weird interaction on social media about the Vikings including calling a respected head coach a liar and other nasty things - including the fact that he does not want to be a part of training camp. Now you have the death of a father and then this outburst and arrest. It is sad, but it was not about Buffalo - all of this is on Ritchie and if he wants to get right he will need to accept help.
