Flutie, Bledsoe, Taylor, Fitz, Orton Flutie- Ok, physically he was opposite of an NFL quarterback, but he he played hard and got the team to the playoffs more often than not. Bledsoe-A star QB, last of his era where mobility wasn't needed. Wasn't necessarily bad, but could not get it done behind a bad O-Line unless a 500 record was OK with you. Taylor-Jury is out but every fan of any other team now tells me that Bills fans are too picky and that Taylor is actually pretty good. They are the same people that always ball busted me on the Edwards/Losman etc type. Fitz-A poor man's Flutie. Was a welcome relief after the nightmare they we know as the Losman/Edwards era. Often threw the interception at the worst time but then again I can see the gunslinging mentality, what QB could compete with the Chan Gailey defenses on the other side? Orton-2014 was the one year the Playoffs could have happened in the past decade. The defense was firing at all cylinders. All we needed was an average stop gap level starter QB and not a screw up. Orton almost was that, but sadly at 9-7 fell short,. Even more unfortunate is that this is still good enough for number 5 in the last 20 years.

Jump the gun a little OP? Maybe this team wont be good, but it is week 1. You never know what a team is going to do in a given season. There are always one or two teams that shock everyone. Rooting for a tank is dumb because a QB is never a guarantee even at #1. Doing it at week 1 is even worse. I will pull for this team and hope for playoffs as long as there is statistically a chance.

After thinking through this whole weekend, the only two things that I don't get is J Williams being cut and the insistence that Ducasse should start over Miller. As far as the WIlliams trade, I think there will be more to this story in the next couple of days. If a suspension is coming or an upgrade at running back via trade or sign is in the works, it will make sense. If not, than it doesn't. Regarding Ducasse, I have a feeling that they will figure out sooner rather than later that Miller is the better option. I just hope that it is not at the expense of Taylor or Peterman's health.

Funny, I joked about this on another thread about 3 or for hours ago. I would take him over Yates though.

And if Luck was under this current regime, they would trade him to a team for a 2020 6th round pick after agreeing to a contract with Joe Webb.

This would be the dumbest move of all. Even if the team for whatever reason feels like the Russian turnstile is worthy of starting at right guard, you are dumping a third year player drafted in the 3rd round who has at the very least been average when starting. Miller would certainly be a better backup option than a preseason cut waiver claim on the panthers........right?

This is one that I do not get. If this team is truly tanking, I would rater see what Jonathan Williams can do than a few career backup RB's in their late 20's and early 30's

Another thought that I have. Even if Clay is a great returner, it is not going to matter if there is a flag before the he has the ball for more than a second on 80 percent of returns. Buffalo needs to have more discipline on special teams than they did in the preseason.

I think that Spiller would have been better suited being groomed in a Sproles/Woodhead/Gillislee type role. Its too bad that Buffalo saw him as a top 10 draft choice and tried to treat him as that franchise back that could endure 20-30 carries every game. . It seems like KC would have been one of the few situations where he may have had a chance if there was anything left. With Charles gone from the team and Ware hurt for the year, he still could not even crack the roster. This may be the end for him in football. I hope he does well for himself in life.

My questions are. Could we have gotten this guy anyway after the cuts? Does he bring anything to the team that Tate or Reilly couldn't bring? If Seymour was going to be cut anyway, I get trading him, but why not for a more relevant pick instead of a player who appears to be a lateral move from our cut receivers and a 7th round pick two years from now.

I don't think that this is always a bad strategy for a team with a new coach that still has talented players on both sides of the ball. You just have to follow that up with a few good drafts and strategic adding of the right players in following seasons. Buffalo had epic bad drafts during the Jauron era and overpaid for mediocre free agents like Dockery, Walker and Stroud. That was what resulted in team failure and a complete lack of talent on the team when Jauron left. Hopefully the drafts during the McDermott era add more talent.

Ive seen enough Fast Freddy Smith, Drew Haddad, Martin Nance, Deonte Thompson type preseason star WR's to know that most of these disappointing cuts end up turning out as nothing more than 5th receivers or practice squad players. Reilly I think will be different. He seems to have what it takes to have a solid NFL career somewhere down the road. Hopefully, we can stash him on the practice squad.

This is logical. Play Wenning for all of week 4, keep Peterman safe. Prevents a disaster in week one and gives Wenning a little experience.

And how will Kaep do that any more than the quarterbacks that I mentioned? They are all stopgap starters/backups at best. If you are in a position where you need a player at that level, you will pick the one that doesn't alienate fans or add unnecessary drama to a team.

McCoy is right. Kaep has done more than kneel at the anthem. He wore a Castro shirt. During independence day, he was in Ghana stating that he could not celebrate independence day because he didn't have freedom. Many see the latter two as anti American. This will put off a lot of people. He has the right to express it but free speech comes with consequences. If he did have top tier talent, a team may deal with it. he doesn't. Why sign someone who will anger your fanbase when players like Jay Cutler, RG3, Brock Osweiler and Fitz give you the same caliber QB without the controversy. McCoy should not be getting heat.for this.

I don't think that Bortles is that good, but Marrone and Hackett should never be let anywhere near a young QB unless that quarterback is being punished for something. .

Paying 15 million for a safety who has never played the position before would be perfectly logical.

Buffalo did show a lack of discipline on thursday, but there is no doubt that Hochuli is terrible. Not just against the Bills, but whenever I see him.I notice three things. 1) He always favors the large market team 2) He calls an excessive amount of penalties.compared to most other officials 3) He gives long winded explanations that are mostly unnecessary, as if he gets commission for how long he talks. I do not even want to watch a game when he is the official. You know that you will get a longer slower paced game where a high percentage of big plays for both teams will get called back. He is the poster boy for what is wrong with NFL officials.

10-15 years ago, a few friends and I went to Niagara on the lake twice a year as a tradition. There was a bed and breakfast which doubled as a restaurant, they had good indian food but they also had a great afternoon tea, which the girls in the group enjoyed. Unfortunately they redid their format and did away with that. If Buffalo could build a tea like that, than it may make the rebuilding year better for some.

Long term may not be bad if handled properly. I think that Buffalo signed Groy with Wood being closer to the end of his career in mind, If Glenn stays healthy, he is a good left tackle. Incognito has a couple of years left. Miller looked bad today but has had a good career so far. Glenn, Incognito, Miller and Groy are a base to start from. Dawkins looked awful today but he is a rookie, and that can happen in preseason. He has time to develop behind Incognito and could be a good interior lineman by the time Incognito is gone.. Tackle depth is the issue at hand. I wish that Kujo didnt screw up his career, he was actually a solid backup left tackle last year. We certainly could have used him tonight. You could survive if your weakest link is Mills at RT, but that paired with Henderson at LT was a disaster. Short term, I would say sign Albert or the best available veteran tackle. Long term, there are a lot of draft picks, if you add at least two lineman including a high pick on a tackle it is a good start. Of course you never know if a lineman will get hurt or a draft pick will be a bust but long term, Buffalo could have a base of. Glenn-Incognito/Dawkins-Groy-Miller-Draft pick with another draft pick and maybe a solid veteran as backups.

This post makes no sense. Today was ugly, but there is too much talent on this team to tank. If the team was in tank mode, than why did they sign Boldin,than ask for Matthews and Gaines instead of more picks during those trades? You would not get much for Tyrod anyway. Not nearly enough to be worth going through a season with an unknown Peterman and a lower end backup in Yates as your quarterbacks. If there was an argument to trade anyone, it would be McCoy. You could get more for him and there are enough other running backs to carry the load. I am not advocating this, but it would make much more sense. Taylor looked awful today, but no QB could have done much behind that line. I am very concerned about that line.
